Don't Get Too Excited
— CAC

But remember that weirdo, boring, way-too-young Republican who is running to unseat Sherrod Brown in Ohio?

Psst...he's tied in a poll coming out from Rasmussen, (updated) 43% to 43%, in a D+3 poll.

Republicans already lead in enough states to flip the Senate with one to spare.
If the Ohio race has become a toss-up, the national scene is shifting from a desperate attempt by Democrats to stop losing control of the Senate...to a very desperate attempt by them to stop Ebola 2: Election Bugaloo.

Extra Goodness: Public Policy Polling (D/DailyKos/SEIU/SuperEvilLiberalPollstersWithDeadOnFinalPollAccuracy) finds Bob Kerrey's pathetic attempt at trying to hold Nebraska for the Democrats a totally lost cause, with him trailing every Republican by double digits and drowning under a 51% disapproval rating. Nebraska is done. +1 R on the board for those playing along at home.

Figured that Sherrod Brown was out this cycle and was wondering why polling wasn't bearing this out.

He got swept into office during a massive wave election in 2006, along with a ton of other Dems in Ohio, and they've royally screwed the pooch since then.  It's not like Brown has done much to distinguish himself from the rest of the fuckups the Dems put into Ohio back then.

(Though I have to say, I would do a mighty big happy dance if Brown ended up on the curb with a cardboard sign that reads, "Will Legislate Poorly for Graft.")

27

Frankly, I’ve had it—not just with Ace of Spades but with the entire “conservative” movement. And it goes way beyond the shilling for the electable “progressive Republican”.

The last straw was seeing so many people on our side endorse an abject surrender of the United States of America in Afghanistan to terrorists it vowed to destroy after 9/11. Surrendering under any circumstances, even if it wasnÂ’t to terrorists who want to kill us, should have been totally out of the question, given that it would be such a disgraceful humiliation to the honor prestige of a great nation. Surrendering to terrorists, however, brings it close to treason.  Obviously Obama bears a lot of blame for refusing to give his commanders the troops they needed, but that isnÂ’t an excuse to quit.

Quit pretending youÂ’re tough on national defense. You arenÂ’t. You want us to wave the white flag because an all-volunteer army is suffering some of the lightest casualties in American history. Anybody saying that the commitment is too costly is quite frankly a fucking liar. We lost over 30,000 killed, 20 times our losses in Afghanistan when our population was half the size it is now, to bring the Korean War to an acceptable stalemate against 500 million Chinese Communists. If we could protect South Korea while fighting a limited war against 500,000,000 Chinese Communists, then donÂ’t fucking tell me that success is impossible in south Afghanistan.

As for a lack of justification, the fact of the matter is that this war is more justified than any other war in American history, including the Revolution and World War II. The British just wanted to raise our taxes slightly. The Axis Powers never struck our homeland and slaughtered our civilians. In the fact, they were totally incapable of it. The terrorists and their enablers by contrast want to kill us all, and have launched a bloody attack on our homeland. One of the reasons, of course, that they havenÂ’t done more in the past 10 years is because theyÂ’ve been deprived of sanctuary in Afghanistan.

LetÂ’s move on to homosexuality. Homosexual ideology represents a dire threat to the nation, because if it is brought to its logical conclusion it will result in an unacceptably low birth rate, greatly impairing our future. Yet, all that I read, day after day, is that conservatives are increasingly bowing to the homosexual lobby. The recently deceased Andrew Breitbart was one of them. In fact, many are accepting such a disgusting and depraved lifestyle as legitimate, which is, of course, a precursor to recognizing it via marriage. Around here, itÂ’s treated as some sort of joke, which it isnÂ’t. It deserves to be taken at a level of seriousness on par with the debt crisis. I donÂ’t want to live, and I donÂ’t want any future children to live, in a society which accepts homosexual perversion as normal.

Meanwhile, there’s immigration. Stopping immigration, legal and illegal, should be the number one priority for the Republican Party, given how it threatens to destroy it. If current voting patterns continue, with the white vote in terminal decline, the Republican Party will be extinct on a national level in 20 years. Yet no one here seems interested in discussing this very real prospect—the destruction of the Republican Party, along with white America—at all. So what’s the point of winning now? I mean, there isn’t a shred of evidence proving Hispanic voters will become more Republican over time, just the opposite in fact.

Finally, there’s the debt crisis itself. While I see that people are constantly bitching about it, I rarely if ever see any specific constructive solution being proposed. I found out why—polls show that most REPUBLICANS don’t want to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Defense, or even welfare. The Ryan Plan doesn’t balance the budget until 2040. Let me repeat: the Ryan Plan does not balance the budget until fucking 2040. So the whole idea that “conservatives” want to balance the budget is a sham.

So since conservatives are fundamentally uninterested in defending the nation, stopping the homosexual agenda, mass immigration, or balancing the budget, I honestly see no reason to continue. Thank you, and goodbye.

43 Security measuring intelligence...or lack of common sense...but don't get too excited.

"Last Friday, two Romney campaign aides left their rented SUV in the Horton Plaza parking garage while they got dinner. When they returned, someone had grabbed all their belongings, including two iPads, two handheld radios and two laptops with detailed information about Romney's presidential campaign. Police said there was no sign of forced entry on the SUV. Romney's campaign spokesman told 10News the burglary is unfortunate and is an inconvenience. He added that he is not concerned about the stolen information."
San Diego CBS 10News

"Not concerned about stolen information." Really.

There's concern about the executive administrator's choice of appointments, selecting aides to strategic intelligence appointments, people so stupid as to leave their computers with data in an unlocked vehicle in a parking garage while enjoying dinner inside a hotel. No mention made from Romney's campaign other than "not concerned".

Isn't it interesting that the 4 hardcore libs on the court are simply expected to vote to uphold, whereas all of the other justices that are considered more to the right (in some cases a little, in some cases a lot) are the big question marks. So the supposed knuckle dragging conservatives are actually going to listen to the arguments and ponder the constitutionality of this, and vote based on that, as opposed to what their ideological or preferred policy preferences are, while the leftists vote reflexively ideologically, not matter what. It is time for one of those lefties to remind me how smart and nuanced the left is, and how dumb the right is, and how those rednecks see everything in black and white. This may be a commentary on the more honorable nature of the right, however it seems a surefire way to lose in the long term, if you follow the rules and your opponent doesn't. It's like bringing a knife to an actual knife fight, and the left shows up with a tactical nuke.

From the linked article: "The Supreme Court just wrapped up the second day of oral arguments in the landmark case against President Obama's healthcare overhaul, and reports from inside the courtroom indicate that the controversial law took quite a beating.

Today's arguments focused around the central constitutional question of whether Congress has the power to force Americans to either pay for health insurance or pay a penalty.

According to CNN's legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, the arguments were "a train wreck for the Obama administration."

92 From the Dems nightmares

The Queensland election results from this past week

"Labor has gone from 51 seats in Queensland to just seven or eight, leaving it without an automatic entitlement to party status and the extra staff that brings. What a disaster.

The Greens vote fell from 8.4 per cent last time to 7.4 per cent. Good."

Maybe, maybe not given into whose hands the laptops are found.

And yes, people make mistakes. But when Romney claims to be the smartest guy running, yet keeps showing the fallacy of that claim, his lack of concern stimulates a lack of confidence in those who expect the powers of reason and good judgement in a presidential contender.

104 The last straw was seeing so many people on our side endorse an abject surrender of the United States of America in Afghanistan to terrorists it vowed to destroy after 9/11. ------------------------- I don't see it as a surrender; I see it as an acknowledgement that Afghanistan is a sh-thole that isn't worth any of our blood and treasure. The Bush Administration strategy of focusing on Iraq has been validated. At least, in Iraq, there was the possibility of a modern, civil society. Afghanistan has been a syphilis sore on the ass of human civilization for 3,000 years... that ain't changin.'

Were that not a joke, it could be taken in a context of the constitutional right to vote being given to illegal aliens, whether the non-US-citizen would be less inclined to vote according to constitutional legitimacy given that alien's possible conflict of national interest. Being a phoenixgirl, perhaps your inclination on that measure bears some resemblance to mine.

None of which is to say that US Citizens necessarily care about the US Constitution, whether more or less than legal aliens or  illegal aliens.

There is a huge generational divide as to what is considered to be the American Dream. It used to be that any American could apply himself/herself to the best of ability in order to excel while enjoying that pursuit of happiness, Liberty, in this magnificent country, honoring the Constitution as Supreme Law of the Land.

Were you saying that Americans who've given their all to serve our Constitution and nation, once dead are forgotten, I'd note that you'd be speaking for yourself.

Posted by: Trimegistus at March 27, 2012 09:01 AM (v9Kjt)

116 Please, please let nothing happen to Obama between now and the election.  If he even gets a boil on his a$$, the liberals are going to go full metal jacket Trayvon Martin, Jared Laughner, Andrew Joseph Stack III on us.  Anything untoward that happens to him will land in the "Tea Baggers" laps.  Mark my words, the radical left -- not good leftist people, but the corrupt, murderous people that Obama has put into power (see: Holder, Eric) -- are not going to go quietly if it becomes obvious Obama won't win.  What happened with JFK might look pretty good to people that will lose everything if he isn't re-elected, and they've already shown how murderous and dishonorable they can be.

124 Depending upon precisely how many brain dead conservatives stay home and don't vote the GOP looks primed to gain a net of 4-6 seats, thereby taking control of the upper chamber. NE and ND are absolute locks. Tester probably is road kill vs. Rehberg in MT. If Tommy Thompson wins the primary in WI it's overwhelmingly likely that he'll win the general there in Nov. Connie Mack looks extremely strong in Fla. Carnahan is extremely vulnerable in MO. George Allen will run very strong in VA, although Kaine won't go down without a fight. Scott Brown is a fighter and certainly he'll put in the necessary effort to retain that seat. Which BTW is crucial, despite what you might hear from the wingnut fever swamps. Brown vs. Elizabeth Warren is akin to Scalia vs. Ginsburg. Other than Brown's seat and the open seat in ME there is not a single GOP seat in jeopardy. Regarding the latter it wouldn't be shocking for the GOP to hold that seat via three-way plurality split. Linda Lingle will force the Dems to spend time and money in HI of all places. The Dems also have to worry about NM. If I had to make a bet I'd say GOP + 4, with the Dems barely holding onto one seat by the margin of putative conservatives who didn't bother voting in that particular contest, and with one very close contest being decided in the Dems' favor by virtue of systematic and organized Democrat voter fraud.

129 This is the thing, I think pundits are seriously underestimating the mood and anger of the nation. Last election was a bloodbath for incumbents, this one will be too. And there's more at stake this time.
Oh, and while you guys still throw fits over Sharron Angle and so on... its a long process, and getting the deadwood out of congress is always good. Even if they happen to have an (R) by their name. Having those two Republican incumbents in office would not have made a damn bit of difference over the last year and a half. None. What it did do was clear out people who were worthless and actually damaging to the conservative cause.

134 #92  The Australians had some people here in Indianapolis who were looking for business deals with Indiana.  The American ambassador to Australia (some Obama appointee) was with them.   He was kind enough to point out that Australia is booming and has had consistent growth even through the recession.

What he didn't point out was the reason: MINING.  Australia has lots of hard rock minerals (gold silver) and also a ton of coal,  which they sell to China.

Labor has pushed the global warming crap which is going to hurt the mining industry and raise everyone's taxes.  That has concentrated the Aussie elctorate's thinking on having a Labor government.

America is very much like the RV driven by the Good Ole Boys in the Blues Brothers. And just like in the movie, Chicago toughs have glued the nation's political gas pedal to the floor.

Thus I continue to think Dems/acorn/labor/O4A/MSM may end up contesting and litigating the November results on grounds of racially-motivated voting rights discrimination in one or more states if Obama loses a close one.

Ask your Demo friends how cool it would be if they could get "payback for 2000" by any means necessary this year. I dont think you'll be too surprised by the answer.

Not 100% positive but pretty sure Obamanation will not accept the decision anyway if the Supreme Court tosses Obamacare, and that one way or another we're heading for a ferocious political crisis in this country, on top of a growing economic crisis and a multitude of foreign affairs crises.

So buckle up. It gets bumpy from here.
