Dude's Freaking Me Out
— Ace

A guy in DC tweeted that a news crew was down on his street, covering the hurricane. He tweeted (paraphrased) "Hey maybe I'll put on a horsehead mask and swimming trunks and run out in the rain and see if I can get on TV."

It would just be a typical dumb Twitter nonsequitor except he did it.

horeseheadnbc.png

Here's the guy back at home, reviewing his "victory." This is where he begins to play games with my mind:

horseheadathome.png

Creepy, right?

So many questions. So many questions I don't want to ask.

Stunt aside, I hope everyone in the storm's path has relocated to higher ground. It's looking grim.

Via Curbed, thanks to The Lopper.

Unrelated, But Also Strange: A woman claims she was "raised by monkeys" and then later caught by hunters sold into sexual slavery in Cucuta (a Columbian city), only to be saved by a family which adopted her.

I don't think I buy this at all but "raised by monkeys" gets an automatic link.

An extraordinary story slowly emerged: Marina had been abducted as a small child, then abandoned in the jungle where she lived alongside colonies of monkeys, foraging for food and sheltering in trees.

Even after she was found by hunters and brought into Cúcuta, her ordeal continued. She initially lived rough in a park with other homeless children. She was then taken in by an abusive family who treated her like a slave.

But her odyssey did not end with her adoption by NancyÂ’s family. For the little girl up the mango tree is now Marina Chapman, a Yorkshire housewife, married to a church organist, mother and grandmother, volunteer and enthusiastic cook of South American cuisine.

I  get concerned too,  but    the Obama campaign is in struggle  mode right now.

What  Obama looking   presidential the last   few days before the election will  sway things  so much?  The only thing that will hurt Romney and help Obama is if Romney voters stay  at  home on their fat lazy asses.  Vote people in swing states!  Vote!

Me? I've got a hundred year old maple with a six foot diameter base, six feet from my foundation, and the last time I measured it was 100 feet tall. There's a bunch of easy-to break 60 - 80' poplars all over the front yard. Needless to say, tonight I sleep under a steel beam, in the basement.

One time I got hit by lightning and six poplars got hit. There was nothing but foot long shards all over the property. All the way down to the base -- gone.

BREAKING: Sean Penn rushes to rescue NYC from Hurricane; Bloomberg confiscates his 20 ounce red kegger cup

Posted by: kbdabear at October 29, 2012 03:41 PM (wwsoB)

Do y'all remember Sean "rescuing" people after Katrina and his boat sank?

From a blog (hyscience 9/5/05):

Sean "John Wayne" Penn, infamous actor turned want-a-be journalist/political activist/hurricane rescuer badly muffed his "appearance" as a Katrina rescuer when he forgot to put the plug in the bottom of the boat he was "piloting" - it sank!

EFFORTS by Hollywood actor Sean Penn to aid New Orleans victims stranded by Hurricane Katrina foundered badly overnight, when the boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.

Mr Penn had planned to rescue children waylaid by Katrina's flood waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.

The actor, known for his political activism, was seen in what appeared to be a white flak jacket, and frantically bailing water out of the sinking vessel with a red plastic cup.

When the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to use paddles to propel themselves down the flooded New Orleans street.

From the article, comes the defining question: "With the boat loaded with members of Penn's entourage, including a personal photographer, one bystander taunted the actor: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"

Sean's "Kodak moment" sank with his boat.

Your grim situation is being repeated here in SE Michigan. There's OCCASIONAL light rain here and LOTS of GUSTY WIND. The LEAVES ARE OFF MANY TREES!!!! Eleventy!!!! It also also garbage day here, so there are numerous empty garbage cans rolling in the street.

Our weather anchors are not allowed outside generally, but instead, are in the studio, giving us apocalyptic warnings of wind. Yeah, WIND.

Yeah, what we have here is a disturbed person who makes up shit as an attention-getting device. This is not infrequent. Some years ago, a woman (I forget her name, I think it was Lauren something-or-other) turned up on the Christian self-help circuit as a "Satanic ritual abuse" victim. Then some years later, she appeared on the non-religious self-help circuit as some sort of Holocaust survivor.

Of course, there was no evidence that she was either. Made a bunch of money, though.
