Dumb, Dumber, Dumbest
— andy

Presented for your consideration are three exceptionally stupid links.

First up, we have perennial HQ whipping-boy Matt Taibbi on Mitt's NAACP speech and "free stuff" == teh racism. Or something.

Next comes Jason Whitlock on how the Penn State scandal was caused by sexism and lack of "gender diversity". O RLY?

And, finally, we have an interview of Meghan McCain by a person named Chelsea Handler who apparently has a show on something called E! (video below the fold).

Your challenge, should you decide to accept it, is to read/watch these and vote for the dumbest. But beware, your MENSA membership is at risk, because it's very nearly impossible to run this gauntlet without shedding some IQ points along the way.

Meggy and the dumb blond (but I repeat myself) are the "dumbest" just because they are both flat out dumb.  I frankly couldn't watch more than about 30 seconds of it.  That sort of thing on E! is pretty standard.  Tosh.O is at once funny in an absurd sense and juvenile - stupid.

Taibbi is calculated stupidity and partisanship, so it's a spit and a hack above Meggy Mudhead.  Taibbi is a dumb flack but probably spend hours crafting the inanity that he wrote. He was probably mentored at it by some crack-addicted Mexican janitor.

Whitlock's article, while it has a silly problem, is not intellectually insulting.  He at least lives in the same place as many people in noting the mendacity of the Penn Staters that overlooked what Sandusky was up to.

20 Taibbi is okay.

He's been all over the JEF's crooked bankster friends - honestly, he does the best job of publicizing banksterism of anyone in the mainstream media.

In fact, he so scared the Chicago Mob that they had to send out Newton Minow's daughter, Nell Minow, to try to discredit him.

Really? The guy who celebrated the death of Andrew Breitbart? I believe a lot of us have him on the list of people to slug if the opportunity ever arises.

I read his bankster book. Of the dozen or so books I've read on the subject his was the least useful because it was so mired in his lefty hatreds going in. If anything, being able to point to one of theirs as down on the banksters just provides protective cover for the Obama gang.

56 "Taibbi is lower than dog shit."

I'm telling you people - the banksters put the JEF in office [they intentionally sabotaged the McCain campaign via their contacts in Hank "Bankster" Paulson's Treasury Department], they own the JEF lock stock & barrel, the JEF knows that they own him, and they have been grooming the JEF for higher office since at least back in the day when Timothy Geithner's father, Peter Geithner, financed all of Stanley Ann Dunham's lunatic fantasies in the turd world.

Matt Taibbi is just about the only journalist in the mainstream media who has tried to shine the light of day on the banksters and their banksterisms.

BTW, in case you folks aren't aware of it, the banksters own all of us, as well.

In fact, this nation is rapidly disintegrating into a duopoly of banksters [on the one hand] and everyone else [on the other], where "everyone else" is a polite euphemism for "all you serfs out in flyover country".

57 I've had my dose of fuckitall so I'm going off topic right now in response to the worst post I've ever seen here, the (now dead) one by DrewM. titled Mitt Romney: Attacks Are "Beneath [Obama's] Dignity":

Unfortunately the tone Romney struck yesterday was not very helpful. Instead of going on the attack over the Bain stories, he seemed defensive. Talking about Obama's alleged "dignity" and demanding apologies that will never come (Mitt never gave any to his GOP opponents) seemed weak.

What a crock of nuclear grade stupid horseshit. The author of this drivel must have the brains of shit stained underwear and the historical perspective of an aborted fetus.

Let me s-p-e-l-l it out for you:

Obama has very high personal likeability rating.

Attacks against presidents with high likeability ratings always do irreparable harm to the attacker.

Case in point: the GOP tried to impeach the high likeable President Clinton. The result? They lost their asses in the 1998 elections. 1998 was the polar opposite of 1994 solely because the GOP was stupid enough to go into a full bore attack mode against a highly likeable president.

WTF?

The people who sign onto the premise presented in this thread must be either too young to remember 1998 or dumb as shit.

The best way for Romney to handle this is to educate the voters, particularly the moderate, low information voters, on the lies these attacks consist of. Preferably with a bit of humor while likening it to the kinds of lies everybody has experienced against themselves during their lifetimes.

Romney is doing just fine.

And he's best off by totally ignoring the red meat base (who, BTW have been rendered insane by their rage) and the Eeyores.

If he does those two things he can't lose.

If he doesn't, the election is his to lose. And he will lose it.

90 Serious question: recommend a good female comedian?

I don't really dig comedians in general, with some exceptions. Like Chappelle. But I don't think I've ever seen a woman get up on stage without some disturbing sex obsessed routine.

96 Taibibi's effort gets my vote. That was a stupid article. Stupid, as in being in an ideological, sanctimonious stupor. In this particular interview, Meggie Mac actually came across as cortically functional. It's all in the framing. Next to this Chelsea Handler clown, a sliced parsnip would look half-smart. Whitlock's article is misguided and inept, and his call for "diversity" as a solution is pathetic. But he doesn't quite sink to the depths of knee-jerk dumbery that the others do.

97 No. 2 actually had something worthwhile to say, he just wasn't too good at saying. Sexism wasn't the right word. No. 3 was two bimbos on TV being bimbos on TV. It was low rent "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" with a queen bee (Megan McCain) dissing an off-camera rival (Ann Coulter) to the delight of an audience of bimbos. But they didn't pretend it was anything else. But No. 1 was Paul Krugman-type political hackwork ranting trying to hide behind a veneer of Rolling Stone cool. The whitest magazine in the world, after perhaps Polo World, essentially says, any guy stupid enough to hang with those coloreds is no friend of mine.

117 1. Sugar Tits is what/who she is. It's in her DNA and she can't help it. Pity we much, and hope she doesn't breed.  2. Jason Whitlock: "The Penn State tragedy is a disaster rooted in sexism and manÂ’s lack of sexual control. We think with the wrong head."  Well, yeah, in general. But, Jason, did you know the ongoing interpretation of the Koran and Sharia (Islam in general) by 14th century Muslim men time warped into the 21st century is nothing but centered around the heads of their dicks? I can't wait to read your column on that, eh?  3. RS's Matt Taibbi had me at ""courting black support" was enough to turn even the strongest stomach", and gets my vote. Only a truly racist person on the left would allow themselves to believe Mitt Romney was at the NAACP event to 'court black support'. I mean, he didn't even pull out the boisterous black preacher voice, or revert to a cross between Ebonics and deep south plantation lilt. You see, after over 4 years of these same idiots throwing down the race card for every little thing in order to cover Obama's ass, when it might be actually useful (in a deceptive sort of way) it's so dog-eared and groan-inducing at this point people just stop reading after the "Wow." because their peripheral vision sees the rest coming in the next labored breath.

122 I'm not going to risk my IQ on all three, but I skimmed (the odious) Jason Whitlock's article. There's a *grain* of truth to it, but not as a man-woman gender politics thing. IIRC one of the principals involved (the university president, I think) has a somewhat odd background - professional and personal - that suggests he's got some out of the ordinary sexual mores. I can't remember what it was that came out (several months ago), but at the time several folks thought it looked odd. Checking his wiki page, you find this: "Spanier contributed to the publication of ten books and over 100 scholarly journal articles while a researcher. As a family sociologist, demographer, and marriage and family therapist, he was the founding editor of the Journal of Family Issues.[5] Spanier was also an author of a study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior concerning the practice of mate swapping, or "swinging".[6]" I'm starting to think there is merit to the rumors about a circle/network of adult men taking advantage of those kids. Even if one accepts that premise--which I do not--only an idiot cannot distinguish among Woods, Clinton, and Sandusky.

Few, if any, men would think Woods or Clinton deserve death for their sexual affairs. Sandusky, on the other hand....

Moreover, many men care as much about their football team as they do partisan politics. But I haven't heard any male Penn State fans saying, "Let's cut old Jerry some slack. He coached for *our* team after all."

Really? He kinda lost me with the column where he called everyone in the management and coaching staff of the Indianapolis Colts--in the freaking Tony Dungy era--racists, because  45% of the team was white, including *gasp* wide receivers (one was Cuban, but there's good Hispanics and white Hispanics...). Generally teams run about 25% white.

They couldn't have possibly signed white guys because they had skills or smarts or anything.  He didn't actually call Dungy "self-hating" or "acting white" because that would be career suicide, but it doinked into the goalpost like a Vanderjagt kick in the playoffs.

Obama has been groomed by bankers for higher office since he was a small child? Are you completely insane?

The bankers will get behind anyone they think is going to give them the best conditions for their activities. That candidate could be a complete unknown up until a year or so before the election. Back when Carter was elected there were still people on November 5th saying "Jimmy Who?" Or it could be someone who has been in the political spotlight for decades. They don't care.

The idea they would invest decades in raising a candidate from childhood is just silly. The world provides plenty of pliable politicians for them with no cost before they become useful.

Pretty good, actually, although I can't imagine eating it for breakfast.

Well, so far the only administrator I've heard of at PSU who challenged Joe Pa's authority was a woman, the gal (VP or whatever) who was in charge of student discipline. And she wound up resigning in protest.

I don't think this is a gender politics issue, but it may be a gay politics one.

Knowing academics, it's much more likely that she hated the football program generally and just got "lucky" that she was right about it.

Ron White is a Texan and he is for the death penalty.  He pissed off a crowd in New York in one of his stand up shows (for about 30 seconds), but then he had them back in the palm of his hand.

He smokes cigars and drinks Scotch during his routine, and the language is pretty hard -R sometimes, but he is insanely funny.

Jim Gaffigan is just as funny, but so dead pan and clean.  He seems pretty normal as a human being and has his head screwed on straight. Never seems to stray in to "blue" humor.  Makes fun of everything, including himself.  Seems like a crazy Scottish ginger.

I haven't heard any indication she knew about Sandusky. From what I've heard it was far more of a jurisdiction battle and the main incident of contention was a party attended by much of the team that became a drunken brawl with much property damage.

I have no problem imagining a female athletic director trying to exercise the same level of power over other school officials and getting away with it so long as she won games and brought in the cash.

The real enabling failure here was worship of something as dumb as a football coach. I have no used for school athletics myself. I'd happily do away with the whole lot and the absurd athletic scholarships as well. Schools should teach. If you want to play games do it somewhere else.

That may have been the case but it seemed as if she was seriously concerned about football players breaking the law not having to answer to anybody but JoePa.  There comes a point when somebody who has absolute authority out in the middle of the sticks loses perspective about right and wrong.  Paterno was waaaaaay too fucking old to be dealing with urban athletes.  Starting with the Rashard Casey incident when Joe bent his own fucking rules for an athlete who'd had trouble with the law (I'm too fucking lazy to look it up but I think it happened in the early 90s) I figured he'd jumped the shark and it was gonna be downhill for him after that.  Little did I realize what the ultimate would be though; I don't think anybody did.  Paterno lost his one contact with reality when his brother died; they'd take walks together and his brother would let him know if he was fucking up.  I still think a reason he stayed on as long as he did was because his crone wife was worried that JayPa would be unemployed without his father running the show.

173 A group of men would not normally conspire in such a way either. But we know that women as individuals will cover it up (look at all the wives who look the other way and sometimes even assist with their husbands). Look at the mothers who brought their children to Michael Jackson. I could be wrong, but I don't think fathers were doing that.

And that's the important factor here: these men felt they knew Sandusky. That they were colleagues and friends. Their gender was not the determining fact, but where their loyalties resided and where their self-interest was.

It's not, as Whitlock argues, males have more tolerance of it (as we might in a *genuine* sexual harassment case). Hence my point about wanting to kill him, versus Clinton and Woods. A woman might be more likely to say Sandusky needed help and counseling, in fact.

A couple of other points: This is the football team, so his solution isn't really practical in any case. The person who spotted the abuse would have to have been a male, because a woman would not be in the male shower room, regardless of her position. If we assume men are going to turn a blind eye, then, there's no remedy for that. Carrying it one step farther, it's hard to envision the head coach being anything but male.

Second, don't you think women found out along the way? Did none of these men mention any of this to their wives? Plus, we're looking only at Penn State, but I bet the Second Mile had women in its hierarchy. The athletic department had evidence of Sandusky's molestations, but they were not really who was providing him with prey. The foundation had to be in on the cover-up, too, and I bet some women knew the suspicions there--and did nothing for the same reason the men didn't

A last quibble: He also undercuts his own attempt to suck up to women by his example of Pat Summit. That is, he says we need more women like her who are willing to say openly they dislike an opponent. Males in athletics don't evidence this problem. Well, if men are more eager for confrontation than women, then he's contradicted himself. A man should have been eager to call Sandusky out.

We already have a lot of men who are like Pat Summit. He didn't say we should hire more women just to give them jobs but because they (in his view) have strengths men don't have. Bringing in only women who are more like men isn't real diversity.

Which is why I questioned you cognitive function. Such comic book conspiracies are the sort of thing that provide fuel for the opposition, giving them material to dangle in front of the fence sitting voters to convince them the right is made up of insane people.

Problem is, in your case they'd be correct. Take your nonsense somewhere else.

176 My last comment was long and not as tight as it should have been. Mainly what I wanted to say was a normal man would be at least as disgusted as a normal woman by Sandusky's actions and would have zero identification with him. The primary determinants of the Penn State response were not gender but relationships and perceived self-interest.

"There are exceptions. People could still sit in parks, on the sand of Clearwater beaches, at sidewalk cafes and while watching parades. People who were having a medical emergency wouldn't be arrested for sitting or lying down in the midst of those emergencies."

195 Whitlock and Posnanski were colleagues at the KC Star back in the 90s/early 2000s when the Chiefs were consistently AFC West champs (or close). They played good cop (Joe P)/bad cop (JayDub) on the sports page. The city had one of the best, most consistently recognized sports sections in the country, mostly because of those two. But it was Posnanski who won all the awards (thus Whitlock's "male sportswriter's sportswriter" backhand) & was (still is!) beloved of the town; Whitlock liked to shock & awe, and paid dearly for it, losing friends, readers, and jobs. I've read Posnanski's take on the situation, which sounds pretty dark-night-of-the-soul-ish. Whitlock doesn't know what that book is going to say. No one but Joe does. And all those years of bitterness and slights (real & perceived) are tainting what might have been a fair enough critique of Posnanski's response to date. (though Joe has gone on record saying that if he found out JoePa knew about all this, he'd hold the man accountable.) I still retain a shred of affection for Whitlock, because I loved, and loved to hate, his columns for so many years. But the Posnanski slap? He's being a bitch. Why don't you practice a little "full disclosure", Jason, and footnote your column with a paragraph about how PERSONALLY connected you were to the man you're mocking?
