— DrewM You'll never guess who made this racist statement about implementing the DREAM Act amnesty by executive fiat.
"There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to simply, through executive order, ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as President."
Nope, you'll never guess in a million years. (the link is hit and miss, I think they are getting slammed by traffic which is great)
Via @Gabrielmalor
ICYMI in all the DREAM Act fun- Mitch McConnell ripped into Obama as a "dangerous radical" and that was before Emperor Barack I acted today. I understand he really knocked Obama around in his speech today.

More than 100 jubilant college students and graduates -- some of them undocumented -- rallied in downtown Los Angeles on Friday in support of President ObamaÂ’s decision to halt deportations of young illegal immigrants.
At the L.A. Civic Center, the demonstrators chanted, “We are the Dreamers, the mighty, mighty dreamers” and moved off the sidewalk and sat in a long train blocking Aliso Street, from Los Angeles Street to Alameda Street. They were also blocking entrance ramps to the 101 Freeway.
“Ain’t no power like the power of the people 'cause the power of the people don’t stop,” demonstrators chanted. Others yelled, “Obama you can court us, but you can’t deport us.”
The protesters were then hit and run by an illegal who didn't have a driving license or insurance....

Yep. It is manifestly stupid politics and I can't figure out why Rubio was so hot on it. The only thing I can consider is that he knows some people or has heard from constituents who are in the "came to the US illegally as minors and are illegal in a country that is their home" category.
Even if this were a good idea, the fedgov has completely discredited itself on the issue of immigration and these kinds of measures don't do them any favors.

Please continue doing your damnedest to wean of the Americans of African decent block off the teat of their plantation masters. I'd like to reiterate and thank you for the insane policies below, and offer a few further suggestions:
1) Redefining the word 'marriage' to include homosexuals.
2) Keeping the unemployment rate, particularly for this block -so- high.
3) Now using Fiat to cause more strife at the bottom rungs of the ladder via 'work permits'.
If you'd like to help a little more, you could lean on the churches somehow, perhaps to -force- churches to marry homosexuals.
Regardless, your lame duck session is scarier than Russia. Particularly if we manage to displace another Republican Senator or two.

I have family members that have this mindset. An uncle's parents came to Texas from Mexico back in the 40s or 50s. Although he was born and raised in Texas they were illegals and so for personal reasons both he and my aunt would be considered pro-amnesty.
I think that there are ways to square this illegal alien circle but blanket declarations and mass amnesties should be non-starters. In fact, I think our whole immigration system is broken and needs a complete overhaul.

I'm thinking of a daisy. A daisy growing in a nice, peaceful green meadow. A cool breeze blows over me. A stream runs through the meadow. I kneel by the stream, dipping my hands into the soothing water. I watch as the red swirls into the azure depths, creating a sparkling mosaic reflecting the interwoven tapestry of our destinies. The birds sing, their melodies blending smoothly with the whimpers and pleas for mercy that are carried on the breeze. The scent of jasmine provides a counterpoint to the coppery tang wafting through the air.

So basically any illegal immigrant under the age of 30 who can gin up phony documentation claiming they were here before their 16th birthday and can pass a GED would get amnesty.
Oh, and by the way- you can take the GED in Spanish. In other words, any illegal under 30 who isn't too dumb to pass a GED and obtain a phony phone bill backdated before their 16th birthday would be able to stay.
The only possible saving grace here is that without a law on the books, ICE agents on the ground might not feel particularly obligated to go along with Obama's little dictat.

I was listening to Chris Plante this morning and a caller called in that was originally from Guatemala, but was now a successful man running several businesses in the US. He was well-spoken and eluded to being in touch with Boehner and the Republicans telling them to be ready for this, that it was coming and they needed to get in front of the ball on it. I gathered his contact was much more than just being a letter-writer. He said (paraphrasing) that there is a big misconception that Hispanics are all on board the amnesty train. He also said that, because our handling on immigration being the snafu that it is....that he knows young Guatemalans that have no skills and no desire to make anything of themselves, are just going to live off their parents' $ until they're ready to basically "live in the United States." He asks these young people, what are you going to do to support yourself, what are you going to do with your life?" The answer is such that their career, as it were, is to come here and live off the handouts.
Now I have to go change the pads on my eyes. The blood just keeps shooting out, no matter what I do....

The most infuriating of all mutations of this is Vietnam fatalities. John F'ing Kerry and many others provide a number of people killed by US in Vietnam that is accurate only if you include eveybody killed by the VC and the North as well. So when that VC killed the school principal in Hue during Tet, castrated him, and put his testicles in his mouth, that was us.

Actually, I think we could, if we would. The "hard" left is (predominately) situated on the coasts (and not even all of that, really) and in the North (recent developments notwithstanding). The "hard" right is in the south, especially (not only, but especially) between the Appalachians and the Rockies.
So, if Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama formed a "core" of a Constitutional Union (or somesuch) I think you could get the rest sorted out fairly easily. Well, as these things go, anyway- I think we could avoid the worst of the bloodbath, not avoid it completely.

Not just immigrants looking to become citizens, but all legal aliens. Every foreigner who followed the laws to come to this country to work, to become an American, or both has just been screwed. The legal immigrants I've spoken to about this have been uniformly opposed. The most bitterly opposed was one whose parents had immigrated legally from Mexico back in the 80s.

I somewhat admire their ability to strategize but, unlike 2008, their strategy has so many holes in it. In this case: They may have taken Rubio out of the running, but to many, such as myself, that isn't a loss anyway.
The big picture remains the economy and jobs, but a runaround the congress can't NOT be a story.

There would need to be some displacement though. Many Yankee immigrants would need to be deported.

I have a crazy theory about Rubio and why he was pushing the DREAM Act.
And Rubio's reaction today kinda confirms what I've suspected: Rubio has been playing a part in Mitt's presidential bid all along.
It's no secret that the GOP has a desire to pander to the latino demographic. Whether we like it or not, the GOP thinks they need to pander to them in order to remain even with the Democrat party.
So they send Rubio out to pay lip service with this Dream Act stuff, thus swiping the issue from Obama. Later, Rubio was to be chosen to be on the ticket...as a friend to both conservatives and latinos. But Obama just out-maneuvered the GOP and went ahead with an XO, taking Rubio and the GOP by surprise.

Certain US pols immediately throw out the welcome mat for them and try to get them assimilated by saying they'll give them free shit in return for their political support. These aliens were actually slaves in their former lives and are fully aware of what is going on and categorically reject all instances of handouts, instead they turn out to be ultra conservative, preferring to go their own and work on rebuilding their new lives. So now these certain US pols are in a bit of a bind, realizing they can't use any of these new "citizen" as a voting block and in fact they will certainly vote against them in the next election. The hilarity starts when they try to make the aliens more illegal than other "aliens", and try to limit their rights.

You can join the military as an enlisted person, but cannot be commissioned as an officer until you are a citizen.
I looked into this when I was in ROTC in college. Being a non-citizen, I could only complete the first two years of ROTC, because the junior and senior years made you formally commit by signing a contract. One of our cadre NCO's was from Cuba. He, like Tony Montana, came to FL on a raft and eventually joined the army and worked his way up to E-7. Before coming to America, he was in the Cuban army and saw action in Angola.
You can enlist, serve your time, and then apply for citizenship afterwards.

The United States government was spending two and a half million dollars a day more than it took in. If that continued, America, like any other bankrupt, would be unable to pay its bills. If bankruptcy came, it would bring what had happened to Germany: hideous inflation, wheelbarrows of dollars to pay for a loaf of bread, meals doubling in price as the diner ate, the end of the middle classes, Bolshevism.
Together, Hoover and Mills formulated the most brutal peacetime revenue bill the country had ever seen. The bill called for a rise in estate taxes from 23 percent to 45 percent, an increase in personal income taxes from 23 percent to 45 percent, a rise in corporation taxes, a sales tax, a drastic modification of capital gains advantages. With the unheard of taxes must come ruthless reductions in government expenditures: a cut in the pension paid to General [John J. "Blackjack"] Pershing [hero of World War I], a one-week vacation without pay each month for the majority of government employees, decreases in the salary of each member of the Cabinet, $12,000 instead of $15,000, and of the President, $60,000 instead of $75,000.
At this time Republicans were firmly in the "progressive caucus" too. It took Goldwater to start the shift to the right. And we still have too many R's who are like Hoover.

....trying very hard to think happy thoughts.
That story about Captain Nicole Mitchell suing the Weather Channel is a feel good story.
Sounds like she did a good job of saving incriminating emails, showing how NBC people set her up....to 'justify' firing her, from her job at the WC.
I hope she wins and collects millions from those douchebags.

Obama has pandered to black voters with fighting voter ID
-pandered to gays with gay marriage (which hasn't resulted in 1 more gay marriage by the way)
-He's pandering to Latinos with this amnesty
-He's largely ignored or hurt unions with the stimulus and the NLRB
-He's been pandering to Hollywood for 4 years
-He's pandered to the young with student loans and not enforcing marijuana laws.
-He pandered to the enviro-nazis with rejecting the keystone pipeline
-He's pandered to women with the alleged War on Womem
-He pandered to the poor with Obamacare.
Am I missing any? Who does he have left?! Some of these seem mutually exclusive, ie if you pander to one, you alienate another (blacks-gays, illegals-unions, enviros-unions, and so on)
Does this actually look like a 51% coalition that he's assembling? Is this stunt today as desperate as it looks? We've been told for 4 years that this man is playing some sort of 5th dimensional chess game none of us can understand but it doesn't seem to be anything other than ad hoc thrusts.

Oh yeah, the aliens are brown coloured and look really tan. There are no males in their species, only two different types of females. The reproduce by parthenogenesis (born pregnant). They are about 8 feet tall, and resemble a cross between Kate Upton and Adriana Lima. Did I mention they have four breasts and a long tongue? Their former lives were to serve as concubines to their emperor, but escaped. Now they like to mate for pleasure instead of duty, and are compatible with human males. Attempting to mate with one will result in a less than 10% chance of survival for the human male, with the surviving ones permanently crippled.

LOL, they had two people primarying him in 2008 and forced a run-off. The poll people asked me twice if I was sure I wanted a Republican ballot because the Sheriff's primary was between two Democrats and it would be the election since the Republicans were not fielding a candidate. The fix was in. The Graham wing of the State Republican Party was controlling then. The Haley wing is top now.

Enlistment into the U.S. Navy, or any branch of the U.S. military, by citizens of countries other than the United States is limited to those foreign nationals who are legally residing in the United States and possess an Immigration and Naturalization Service Alien Registration Card (INS Form I-151/551 — commonly known as a "Green Card"). Applicants must be between 17 and 35; meet the mental, moral, and physical standards for enlistment; and must speak, read and write English fluently.
Note: The U.S. military
branches cannot assist foreign nationals in obtaining admittance into
the United States. Questions concerning immigration to the United
States should be asked of the U.S. Embassy. Only after immigration
procedures are completed and an applicant is legally residing in the United States may an application for enlistment be accepted.

Senate so a real conservative can be put in his place. And VP is such a
warm spit job he can't do any harm.
--
I agree that removing warm spit while keeping (and adding) strong conservatives who persist in adhering to constitutional duties in their Capitol Hill seats is paramount.
It seems though that you need to consider how malleable Romney is. Unless the point is doomed to be a sell-out administration, Graham (McCain, Hatch, etc.) is the LAST person you want as VP next in line to be POTUS.
To date Romney IS liberally revisionist, a go-along to get-along Keynesian touting his late conservative conversion. If he's looking to fill out his ticket, then solidify with a hard-nosed fiscal hawk who doesn't vote big governance. Senators feel far too entitled and need a Senate President willing to twist THEIR arms and whip them into shape rather than squeeze the citizenry for more tax funds to squander on corruption. Since Romney's likely to vote for global bank bail-outs, put a VP on the ticket who will fight that tooth and nail. The determining vote in a Senate tie far too significant to be relegated to a warm spit job.

They would probably have a better chance of suing under a writ of mandamus to enforce the law which is the duty of the executive department.
However, the way the Supremes have been lately they will probably not grant cert. They will say it is a political question and congress has a remedy in impeachment.
Which will never happen. Not even a majority of the balless Republicans would vote for it.
