Eric Holder's Perjury Defense Is Crumbling
— Ace

NPR actually reported on the contents of his Friday Night Document Dump -- to wit, that he was apprised of Brian Terry's murder by Fast & Furious gun on the day of his death, not a "few weeks" before his May 2011 Congressional testimony.

Here's NPR's version of the news:

The email messages show the former top federal prosecutor in Arizona, Dennis Burke, notifying an aide to Holder via email on Dec. 15, 2010 that agent Brian Terry had been wounded and died. "Tragic," responds the aide, Monty Wilkinson. "I've alerted the AG, the acting Deputy Attorney General..."

Only a few minutes later, Wilkinson emailed again, saying, "Please provide any additional details as they become available to you."

Burke then delivered another piece of bad news: "The guns found in the desert near the murder [sic] ... officer connect back to the investigation we were going to talk about — they were AK-47s purchased at a Phoenix gun store.

Oh, and skip down to "Motives Doubted" in this profile of key Fast and Furious figure (fall guy?) Dennis Burke for a media broaching of the "deliberate scheme to assault the Second Amendment" theory.

I am SHOCKED that NBC reported on anything from a Friday document dump.  That's the whole point of dumping the documents on a Friday!   So the MFM can pretend like nothing happened and anything important can just be swept under the rug.  I'm pretty sure it's written in the "Journalism for Dummies" handbook.  I KNOW it's in the most recent revised edition of "Politics for Dummies."   So again, SHOCKED.

But I guarantee I'm not as shocked as Holder was.

25 There are a number of perjury raps that should be going here. And these are not the "perjury traps" that they tried to get Cheney on and did get his aid in a shitty jury decision. This is real perjury to hide actual crimes committed.

But perjury is not the only crime committed here. We have numerous violations of law going here. We also have wrongful deaths caused by those violations. In most legal wonk terms, at a minimum that would be manslaughter.

The big question is what is Issa going to do? We know it goes as high as Holder on the perjury, but is he the one that originated the illegal activity to begin with, or was it Hillary or Obama?

Will they pursue this? I am beginning to think not. They are playing it for politics and not legality. I no longer have any confidence at all in any of the House or Senate Republican leadership.

The old-school media is of two minds about this story: on one hand, it's damaging to Obama; but on the other hand, it's that Big Story that they all went to J-school to break.

I remember Anderson Cooper covering it briefly a month or two ago, and the dude looked like he wanted to puke the whole time. Restrained and accepting of everything the Arizona sheriff (not Arpaio or Dupnick) was saying.

Obviously, the Obama-loving side of him is currently winning, but any journalist worth their name is facing that Big Story moment.

Hell, he could just say it slipped his mind. (His program got an agent killed and it just didn't rate with him.) But that will be good enough.

From the beginning, I've suspected Fast & Furious was conceived as an attempt to buttress anti-gun legislation and tighter regulatory controls. Ace called this 'The Big Theory' and more or less discounted it because it would mean the violent, bloody deaths of 300 people and counting were ultimately the point of the program, not an unfortunate result of a well-intentioned gun tracking operation gone awry.

Dennis Burke won't talk unless he's facing serious prison time, and maybe not even then. Without further corroboration, Holder won't be successfully impeached--emails are simply not strong enough evidence to successfully remove (or ideally imprison) the US Attorney General. So unless a major player at a high level comes forward--Obama's equivalent to Nixon's Howard Dean--then there won't be justice for the dead and their families. It is what it is: tragedy then farce then tragedy again. No justice for anyone.

Like it or not, the passage of ObamaCare was accomplished by a Democratic majorities and a Democratic President in the White House, both branches elected by a majority of our fellow citizens, which makes Mike Vanderboegh's calls for vandalism and intimidation on the passage of ObamaCare inexcusable; e.g., bricks through windows, threatening phone calls, cut gas lines in private homes. 70 Note that NPR lied when they claimed the program was intended to track guns to drug gangs. They know full well it was designed to get around such tracking, to prevent it, and that agents were disciplined for trying to keep control over those guns - the entire reason why this *IS* a crime and not a bungled investigation, the very reason we're still talking about it. I really could not have more contempt for so-called reporters and their lies. They are regular accessories to crimes, as long as it supports their ideology in some way.
