Indeed.  Yet I, a dirty western barbarian in their eyes, had no trouble working with some fairly arrogant Japanese, and even enjoying drinking with them.  Imagine this novel idea - I did not expect them to love me or identify with me.  Without the burden of needing their adoration and validation I was actually able to live my life without giving a crap that they saw me as inferior.  It was even sometimes funny to see them looking down on me even as they had to look up at me.

The game like society, has changed radically. It's become less of a sport and more of a venue for Correct-Think. (CT)

If a female announcer can add some insight into the game, great for her. If she's there just because of her gender, it's CT. If players are sincere about raising awareness about terrible diseases or people in need, let them express their views off-air, if it becomes only one or two causes that are highlighted by uniform changes, it's CT.

If rules changes are legitimately brought up by players, they should be addressed. If these changes are being promoted by other entities, it's CT.

The worst change in the game became the concept in announcing that "controversy sells". To a limited degree within some boundries, I agree.

The problem is that there are no longer any boundries.

The 90% figure (98% for Obama) isn't from votes, it's from exit polls. Now you can argue that blacks feel pressured to tell a pollster that they will vote Obama. But even taking that into account, I'd say the black vote is at least 85-90% and for Obama around 95%.

345 342 Sorry about missing your post up thread. Wilson actually married his high school sweetheart who started out at UGa and ended up in Raleigh. Russell is as stand up as they get. I saw him play a bunch in high school....hands down the best high school player I have ever seen. What kills me about these black journalists is that they only care about 'the cause'.... whatever the fuck that means. I guess we really know what that means....gangsta, multiple times a baby-daddy and devoted to the race baiting cause. 350 337 Mr. Moo Moo The 90% figure (98% for Obama) isn't from votes, it's from exit polls. Now you can argue that blacks feel pressured to tell a pollster that they will vote Obama. But even taking that into account, I'd say the black vote is at least 85-90% and for Obama around 95%. But that's my point. If the black D vote was "only" 85% instead of 90-95%, that would be enough to change some election results.

A poster above said that said his name bugs some blacks, like this asshole who can't even talk, is right.  RGIII suggests the young man has a father and a grandfather who didn't run off and let a baby momma raise him.  That pisses off those who come from dysfunction because it sounds so...so...so...so WHITE.

 

I'll add that what's really bugging that asshole is that RGIII is an articulate young man who doesn't want to play the racial spoils game. He wants his abilities and his character to speak for themselves.  He is refusing to be a symbol of race.  He'd like to be a symbol of excellence at his chosen profession.

Bugging asshole the most is that the kid has a mind of his own, thinks for himself, is bright.  "Uh, oh, we got ourselves a bright one here, a bright black man who just might not do and say what we want him to.  What we do about this?  Tear the mfucker down, that's what we do.  Make him look like he be a white-boy who just mighta voted for Romney or whatever.  After all, he be goin' wid a white girl.  He be wantin' to lift hisself up and look down on us."

This asshole has  a big problem.  He's praised RG for his smarts and now he's found out that those smarts might just have led RG to different political conclusions and to different behaviors than REAL black men ought to have.  Uh huh....big problem...gotta tear him down.

Hilarious...and true!

When I was going through Navy aircrewman school, I saw a shipmate of mine, who happened to be black, swim the mandatory mile swim.

He was not a swimmer.  He would sink like a stone, but by keeping that forward motion going, he was able to stay within striking distance of the surface.  This guy literally swam the whole mile underwater, struggling to the surface once in a while for a quick breath.

When he got out of the pool, I had to shake his hand.  It is one of the gutsiest things I've ever seen.  He REFUSED to give up!
