— Open Blogger I don't get the hand-wringing over Boehner's latest episode of stepping on his own dick. He's an ineffectual and therefore inconsequential Speaker, and I have no idea why anyone held out hope he'd come up with a political "win" here.
As if the passage of plan B was going to ever provide any significant political cover.
We, America, lost the war for the Economy on Nov 7.
Trying to find tiny nuggets of "Win" at the base of the of the mountain of DOOM seems a pointless attempt at face-saving and hope-casting. There's no face-saving in passing legislation you know will never see the light of day. And as the saying goes, "Shit in one hand, and hope in the other, and see which hand fills up first."
Screw"show" legislation, and dork false hope right under its double-rainbow tramp-stamp.
The Right has lost the battle of the checkbook. The Senate hasn't passed a budget in 4 years, and the country voted to continue this lawlessness.
May the Senate eternally sink on the barbed cock of Satan.
There was no possible "Win" available in plan B that would not have easily been ignored or recast by the dominant media to a fatuous electorate that has become addicted to reach-arounds.
Screw the Media, and the trite electorate they lead around by the nose.
Matter of fact, that goes double for claiming they can ban "bad" guns and somehow stop crazy people from doing what crazy people do.
If you all have done or are doing what you should be, (i.e.: Exercising your 2nd amendment rights), no gun ban will affect you. If they want to play at Fascism and try a real gun-grab, well, let's just say:
The "Cold, dead hands" Rule still applies, and is 300 million weapons strong (and counting).
So quit your worrying over milk that was spilled and dried up months ago.
It's Friday, and if ever there was a Friday in need of a hearty "Fuck It All", it is this one.
Embrace the FAIL, and remember, you can't spell FAIL without the "F", "I" and "A".
I'm heading back home to Tennessee in a few hours. Tonight I dine, I drink, and I bed my woman. Or she beds me, depending on what we drink.
I suggest the rest of you find something similarly rewarding. That's what weekends are for.

That there is the real answer. Our neighbors, family, friends, and associates have been donking our squeakholes for decades. Party's over.
"We" have no one to blame but ourselves. The Grand Experiment is probably over, too. What will the "mainstream" conclude? It's now time to blame "the purists".

Exactly right. Everybody loves them some "free" stuff from the government, even many of those who consider themselves 'conservative', while simultaneously believing that someone else ("the rich") are going to pay for it. The only way they'll ever see the folly of this is to give them every tax increase the liberals want, and eventually it will hit them in their own pocketbook. Then maybe they'll be change.
We've talked economic theory for over 25 years and they don't want to listen. Fine by me.There are other ways to get our points across.

Personally, I've never been in love with the Republican Party, and I don't tend to make idols out of politicians... any of them.
I realize for some it's like they're going through the stages of grief, so they haven't quite figured out that what is dead is indeed, dead. But they will.
Lots of denial and anger and all that before they reach acceptance, but it'll come.
Who will we/they be when we all get there? I dunno. Not Republicans though, that much I know.

I agree with this, and the first thing we need to do is repeal the Hollywood tax cuts.
The Strategy reminds me of this:
Smokey the Bear heads
into the autumn woods
with a red can of gasoline
and a box of wooden matches.
His ranger's hat is cocked
at a disturbing angle.
His brown fur gleams
under the high sun
as his paws, the size
of catcher's mitts,
crackle into the distance.
He is sick of dispensing
warnings to the careless,
the half-wit camper,
the dumbbell hiker.
He is going to show them
how a professional does it.

And since we obviously have no interest in governing, the left will be more than happy to fill our shoes, especially when 2014 rolls around and they control POTUS, the Senate, and the House. Great job!

Pretty pie crust for pies with a top crust...put a small amount of milk in a dish or glass, about a tablespoon. Using your clean fingers or a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of the pie with the milk. Then take as small amount of sugar and sprinkle it on the damp crust. After the edges have browned, take aluminum foil and put a small strip around the edges of the crust to keep it from burning. Your pie crust will brown beautifully and look like it was sprinkled with diamonds.

You know what happens to a state that reforms their voting process to the point where fraud is non-existent and recounts are a snap. It gradually turns Republican because the Dims cannot win consistently if they can't count on vote fraud. It happened in Oklahoma, we now have it all--Governor, both State Houses, both Senators and all Congress Critters.

Yes, revolvers are fine. It's a matter of personal preference, but I suggest going with a big caliber, one starting with a '4'; i.e., .44 magnum, .44 Special, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .40 S&W. Usually not so much to handle since the weight/mass of a largish frame will absorb most of the recoil. I keep a scary big .45 SA Colt revolver as my bedside weapon.

I get your point. But the vote total was less in 2012 than 2008.
And let's say there are 5 early voting centers for a month and on election day there are 50 voting centers. It seems like for a month it's the same people voting as they do on ED. But in reality it's long lines at a few places vs. long times at a lot of places.
Again, I'm not saying there isn't fraud. I just don't believe Romney would have won even if 100% of the fraud didn't exist.

People were looking for an enormous ACORN-style dead voter invasion,
while targeted electronic fraud in key swing counties is more effective, efficient, and harder to detect.
Something stunk "just enough" about that last result.

There's no reason to keep an empty chamber in a revolver made in the last 20 years or so, with the possible exception of some Old West replicas.
Practically all have hammer block safeties now. You can put the gun in a vise and hit it with a hammer without having it go off unless the trigger is pulled.
The only safety you need is between your thumb and middle finger.

Someone said something about Dingy Harry and a spending bill to take us through the first few months of the year to avoid "the cliff" originating in the Senate in order to put the Republicans in to the wringer. It seems laughable at first blush since all spending bills are supposed to originate in the house. But then that assumes the Republicans ( or the house for that matter) would assert their constitutional authority. Damn I kill me some times....
Of course they could just walk away and shut down the gummint until an actual budget was passed.

275...The WOOF is a heads-up when you and your steak are still 50 feet away.
Yep. Dogs are a good early warning system.
Even the little ones will yap and warn you that something is up.
My dog, thankfully, will not eat or drink anything that I don't give him.
I didn't even teach him this.
He developed this on his own...probably because I was the one feeding him and taking care of him when he was a puppy.
The down side to this, is that I can't leave him with anyone and go away for a few days....or he would go without eating.
Even when my husband feeds him, if I'm not there to say "It's okay", he won't touch the food, no matter how good it is.

I be tired of the gloom and doom. A bit ago, I took spastic lab outside, and wandered around the property, looking at the Christmas light we put up. It's snowing, they look luminescent and beautiful through it. Actually lumped up some looking at them.
It ISNT over, not by half--but the fix will be at the local and state level. Forget DC.
I can't subscribe to LIB, it's as if I were quitting on this country I fought and bled for. While there is breath in me the battle will continue. I understand the thinking behind LIB, but sorry, can't do it.
In any event, please remember the reason for the season and celebrate that.
Merry Christmas, good people.

There gloom the dark, broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toiled, and wrought, and thought with me---
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
Free hearts, free foreheads---you and I are old;
Old age hath yet his honor and his toil.
Death closes all; but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with gods.
The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks;
The long day wanes; the slow moon climbs; the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends.
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
the sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;
It may be that we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are---
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Rapt attention to detail is what replaces fear once there is familiarity.

MUMR, I agree. I also look at where this proud country is NOW, and it boggles me. I cannot understand how and why we are at this stage.
I think we can fix it, but doubt that I'll live to see it. But you MUST NOT give up on it.

All I suggested was that Jake go to a doctor, rather than trying to get over his feelings by himself. YOU, on the other hand, glibly offer your armchair unprofessional opinions that chemical imbalances (which you are NOT born with and I did not say anyone was born with them) are not the cause.
There are actual medical studies about this, you know. I didn't make up the idea of chemical imbalances. I am not in the employ of Big Pharma or its subsidiaries, either.
When I had to plan a wedding, I hired professionals to do the job. When I need wiring repaired, I call an electrician. When the drains are stopped up beyond my capability to repair, I call a plumber.
And when one feels bad mentally for a long time, it's time to call a professional. Depression can be cause by things like thyroid malfunction, dietary deficiencies, pituitary tumors, brain tumors, flu, anemia, and drug interactions. None of these reasons is made up and the information on this is readily available on the internet. All of these causes need to be checked by a physician so that the proper remedy can be applied.
So no, I am not a doctor; I am just smart enough to knowI might possibly need one, and so does Jake.

I've cut myself accidentally more often that I've shot myself accidentally ;->
I use a lot of single edge razor blades and X-acto's modeling. You get bleedy before you even know it happened.
That, and spinning props. Many of my friends have made trips to the emergency room sticking their hands into spinning props. A 16,000 RPM carbon fiber prop cuts to the bone quicker than a scalpel.

Of course it would be finding the right Doc. one that actually deals with meds and patients for a living.
hunt around ask for best recommends of friends.
If you're embarrassed say it's for a long lost sister etc.
(although you shouldn't be)
look depression that last a long time ignored would be like ignoring a heart issue of BP.
you don't have to feel down. a decade is a very long time.

How about post partum depression, which is cause by hormones being out of whack?
I don't know what your definition of depression is, but prolonged periods of sadness, often with suicidal thoughts, is my definition. Symptoms include constant tiredness, loss of appetite, bouts of crying for no apparent reason, loss of motivation, lack of interest in everyday life, lack of grooming and bathing, frequent bouts of temper.
What do you think depression is?

The FSA is on Medicaid. They don't give a shit what Obamacare does or doesn't do. The people that Obamacare is in theory supposed to help are the $50K a year types without health insurance. And these people won't be at demonstrations in DC because they have a job to go to.
