Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, December 24, 2012. On this day in 1814 the Treaty of Ghent was signed ending the war of 1812. The only thing the U.S. gained in this war was the national anthem, rubble in Washington DC, and the onset of "The Era of Good Feelings." The British viewed the war as a sideshow in the overall Napoleonic Wars. The fact is that the U.S., like all the rest of the wars down to WWII, was not prepared for this war.
Once again one of our "allies" kills us troop. More die to protect Obama's ass in a mission with no target.
Are unions on the decline? It looks that way but lets not start washing each other's cranks yet. True the unions have lost several major battles in blue States and their membership is on the decline, but. Every single time we think we have the socialists and communists on the ropes they find some way to bounce back, usually through assistance from their lackeys and partners in the Demo-commie party. Keep in mind that elections have consequences and the NLRB will continue to be stocked with labor toadies who will rule exclusively in favor of unions no matter what. It took court action to shut down the board in the fight over Boeing in SC.
Prepare for a tax increase at the end of the year folks. The Sunday talk shows featured everyone blaming Republicans as the MFM continued its war on the country.
Our current battle over the border patrol and lack of enforcement due to the EPA is ludicrous. Why has congress not acted on this? Because the House has passed a bill and the Senate is filled with idiots who view illegals as future voting blocks. We can't patrol large swaths of the border because of "environmental" restrictions on vehicles but the Mexicans cross at will, build campsites, and generally trash the area at will creating a much larger problem.
Is ICE finally implementing something I have long called for? Well, to some extent they are. They are doing a lot more audits of companies and fining those that purposely hire illegals. What they lack is jailing multiple offenders. This is really the only way the flood will be stopped. This and halting all welfare and assistance payments to illegals (which the Demonrats will never do).
Idaho Senator charged with DUI in Washington, DC. Yes, a politician was charged. Unlike the Kennedy who had a DUI with accident and let go, he will get the shaft. What is the difference? He is a Republican. He is also a Mormon who is not supposed to be drinking.

A glimpse of what our enemy has in store for us. Notice that they must have had the Alinksy Machinery already in place for the next mass shooting. They'll rely on holding the N.R.A. to its own standards, i.e., we're not the Klan and we won't come for them in the night. Probably, just the reverse.

The NRA, the most powerful gun lobby in the United States, ruled out any support Sunday for greater regulation of firearms or ammunition magazines after the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre.
As I said previously, why is it that people who revere the Constitution are “lobbyists” while gun grabbers are “concerned citizens”?

Merry Christmas Eve, ‘rons and ‘ronettes.
Every year there are a lot of recommendations for Christmas movies, specials and music. IÂ’ve already shared some music a while back. As far as movies, I donÂ’t care for either ItÂ’s A Wonderful Life (one of CapraÂ’s worst movies, I think) or A Christmas Story (which, IMO, except for Darren McGavin, isnÂ’t nearly as funny as people insist it is).
My Christmas tradition is White Christmas, sappy and unrealistic though it is (no matter how much they loved “The Old Man,” would all of General Waverly’s outfit really drop their plans to get to Vermont only two days before Christmas?). I don’t have any stories connected with the movie, but a few little notes:
Rosemary Clooney was Bing’s own choice for Betty Haynes, his romantic partner; he casually mentioned to Paramount executives that she was a “cute kid” with a “nice voice.”
Danny Kaye was actually the third choice for Phil Davis, Crosby’s partner. White Christmas was originally planned as the third film in an unofficial Crosby – Astaire trilogy, following Holiday Inn and Blue Skies, but Astaire didn’t like the script and demanded out of his contract. Donald O’Connor was then signed, but fell very sick before shooting began, and Kaye was assigned to the picture, being given 10% of the gross to sweeten the deal.
All of Vera-EllenÂ’s costumes in the movie have a high neck, to hide the effects of her anorexia.
When the sisters show Crosby and Kaye a photo of their brother – known as “Freckle-Face Haynes, the Dog-Faced Boy” in their outfit – the picture is that of a minor actor named Carl Switzer, better known as “Alfalfa” to you Little Rascals fans.
Clooney couldn’t really dance (which, she says, contributed to the coolness between her and her “sister”) and Vera-Ellen couldn’t dance. Most of Clooney’s footwork in the “Sisters” number is very basic, in order to hide her deficiencies; similarly, Vera-Ellen’s voice in the song was dubbed by Clooney herself.
And now, let me leave you with a favorite Christmas passage of mine, courtesy of Mr. Dickens:
“There are many things from which I might have derived good by which I have not profited, I dare say,” returned the nephew, “Christmas among the rest. But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas-time, when it has come round - apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that - as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good; and I say, God bless it!”
A very Merry Christmas to you all. I wish you all that you wish yourself, and may God bless you.
See you on Boxing Day.

THIS is example #1,596,624 of how the left keeps beating the hell out of the right.
Ken Adelson thinks nothing of dropping $130Mil or so on a campaign, when what we need is a few wealthier conservatives to invest in movies and tv shows that make it obvious that the left is preparing the way for the next Caliphate.
BONUS: unlike a campaign, which is like setting fire to your money, some of those movies will earn a nice profit. (Provided no one is stupid enough to name such movies anything like "Hi There, This Movie Is For Conservatives.")

Romney really did not want to be President, so says son.
I keep reading this and I keep thinking, "so what?". The election is over. The only reason to keep dredging this stuff up is to keep people thinking about how incompetent the evil Republicans are so the media can continue to blame them for everything.

Fuck. I meant Vera-Ellen couldn't sing, of course!
And I can't even blame a pre-Christmas Eve hangover. Speaking of which, for any of you Morons planning to swig some Sam Adams Gingerbread Stout - don't. It's treacly sweet, and you end up with a mouth that tastes like a squad of gingerbread men have pissed cider down your throat.

They never tried hard enough to make the "Bush" tax cuts permanent.
They never explained why they benefited everyone.
The fiscal cliff deal was their doing!
They have allowed the President and the Democrats to demonize a class of people and have bought into it themselves by offering, OFFERING tax hikes, going against the foundational principles of their party and alienating the very people who gave them the majority in the House.
I'm sorry the GOP does deserve the blame for their predicament and now we are going to suffer.

The New York Post tracked down Tawana Brawley, she of the false gang rape by white men that polarized New York City back in the New Jack Swing Era. She lives in Virginia under a different name and works as a licensed practical nurse.
Her low profile has nothing to do with the following:
Brawley lost a defamation lawsuit for her false accusation and was ordered to pay $190,000 at 9 per cent annual interest. She hasn't paid any of that bill. In total, she owes $429,000.

Meanwhile, in The Golden State:
A major raid on a cockfight in East Compton led to the detaining of 47 people, the confiscation of about $100,000 in bets and the discovery of nearly 60 birds Saturday morning, authorities said. About 20 people managed to run away from animal control officers when the 8 a.m. raid began, Reyes said. But others were detained and cited for misdemeanor charges of being a spectator, and some of those faced additional charges of being participants in a cockfight.
“It was a high-stakes cockfight,” said Aaron Reyes, deputy director of the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control. He said it was probably the largest one busted in Los Angeles County in several years.
Potential voters just awaiting the right fiscally conservative Republican with a moderate stance on chicken fightin'.
BTW - "The healthy birds were being taken to shelters, but veterinarians could not save the wounded birds and had to euthanize them."

There's the problem of having too much money and too much leisure time. Tagg is so insulated, he's never met people who actually refuse anything to do with politics, let alone campaigning. He's in withdrawal, having spent his adult life "serving his nation" as the Potus Mitt #1 campaigner. And Mitt's so perfect, no one else could take his place as LOSER ... just gotta keep on rationalizing why it wasn't their fault they lost.
Since Tagg insists that his father treasures family privacy most, then Tagg screwed dad along with every moron who voted for Romney by posting the turd that keeps turding under the Christmas Tree in the Romney better-than-thou tradition. Mitt stands blameless, and went as the lamb to the slaughter because no one else was worthy to fit Mitt's slippers.

Tina Brown is such a self-absorbed scrunt.
Betrayed by the Zeitgeist she once channeled, Tina Brown invokes it one last time
Link to Capital New York: http://tiny.cc/x2qtpw
In an interview with Michael Kinsley in the Nov. 26 issue of New York magazine, Newsweek editor in chief and magazine legend Tina Brown gave a big-picture reason for the magazine's failure: "[E]very piece of the Zeitgeist was against Newsweek," Brown told Kinsley, a quote so telling, New York's editors even saw fit to tease it on the magazine's cover, the word Zeitgeist framed by inverted commas...
Tina honey, if I wanted to spend good money to read left-wing commie bullshit, I'd pick up a copy of the "Communist Manifesto" from the used book bin at Goodwill for a quarter. If that's what you mean by the zeitgeist being against your failure of a magazine, then yes, you are correct.

Merry Christmas Eve Everyone- May we all have a Blessed Christmas and the Happiest New Year!
Though I doubt it with the current admin, they seek only to ruin the US.
Vic- I get Powerline emails everyday and for a week or so they have made points on how bad Hagel would be. I didn't read yesterday's. I was watching television.
I say Blessed because I mean it in my heart, but I never go to church. I think what is in your heart is more important that your deeds, especailly if they are phony.
I spent almost all day yesterday watching television, on demand. I have Showtime and loved Homeland. It was on a ten pm on Sundays. At nine was Dexter which I never watched. I watched almost the entire first season. It was cold out and I pampered myself and my brohter and I had steaks for dinner. He cooked, he lives in the apartment downstairs. I was going to try a ham for Christmas but we don't want to eat it for days. He doesn't like turkey and I don't like roast beef. We decided on steaks for yesterday and Christmas.

Denver WILL have a white Christmas
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Tough day yesterday with the Sunday editorial pages and news shows flooding the zone over gun control, the NRA troglodytes, and how Obama is doing his best to steer the country away from the cliff if only the evil Republicans would just work with him. Our rag has had two straight days of pure liberal rants against the NRA and anyone who isn't getting with the left's solutions.
The last thing I saw on the internet after leaving AoS for the night was a link entitled "New Poll Says Republicans Are Too Extreme".
Unreal.
But on the way to work, a substitute talk show host offered the theory that we need to do what we can but bide our time. He said Republicans are going to take a short term hit on the financial mess and the cliff, but he's convinced that 2014 will likely be a bigger Republican landslide than 2010 after people have 8 years of unchecked Obama and time for the consequences to sink in and contemplate. I'm not as optimistic right now but was glad to hear it anyway. Remember, if there is anything we can count on, it's that the left is always arrogant and condescending and ALWAYS overreaches. Then a front page headline in the morning fishwrap was "Consensus On Reining In Firearms Diminishes-Republicans join NRA in resisiting altering laws". Great to hear.
Spine stiffening time. Not fun right now, but what doesn't kill us will make us stronger. I've been a conservative since my early teens ( quite a while ago) and this recent stuff is only sharpening any few soft edges there might have been.
This is one of the few sane and "left free zones" around. Thanks to Ace and all the co-bloggers, and commenters here. Not to get too sentimental, but it is the Holiday season after all. This site is an incredibly valuable resource in many ways to many people. Looking forward to much more to come in 2013!
Merry Christmas to all morons and moronettes!

I think he is correct, and that this has been Boehner's strategy all along. Lots of people want his head on a pike, but I suspect he has knowingly sacrificed his tenure as speaker to buy time. As I've said in the past, if the American people don't wake up, it really won't matter what Boehner does, though.
Even the Brits are starting to notice.

From a better land and a better people than ours. This is the sort of thing that makes me wish Jack Finney's fantasies were true:
"DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, 'If you see it in THE SUN it's so.' Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus? "VIRGINIA O'HANLON. "115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET."
"VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except what they see.
"They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.
"Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.
"Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.
"You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.
"No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood."
I've got a lot to do today, so I may bbl, may be not. Merry Christmas to you all.

pep,
I think you may be right about Boehner. I can't say I am a fan, and he has seemed overmatched by Obama and the Democrats, but he has a heinous job (at this stage anyway) that I feel he tries to perform in an honorable manner. Would not have his job for all the $ in the world, head would explode inside of a week.
We trash him here, but believe me, it ain't all DC cocktail parties and elite dinners right now for the guy.

Don't know if you read this in your 'Gen Y' article:
Hallock is the named plaintiff in one of 14 lawsuits against some of the nationÂ’s best-known law schools, including her alma mater, the University of San Francisco School of Law. The civil complaints, filed in 2011 and 2012, accuse the institutions of overstating graduatesÂ’ job-placement results and incomes.

Oh, by admirers of Hitler, I assume you mean Joe Kennedy, right?
And the strongest opponents of our involvement with the war in Europe was the Commie left: remember, their BFF Stalin was Hitler's ally. Those assholes fought Lend-Lease and the draft tooth and nail.
As for conservative isolationists, they remembered 1916, when Woodrow Wilson was elected on a "he kept us out of the war" platform, only to drag the nation into WWI. Some 50,000 dead doughboys later, Wilson went to Versailles and got his clock cleaned by Lloyd-George and Clemenceau. The isolationists were wrong, but it was not irrational to look at the war in Europe and say that they wanted nothing to do with it.
So, asshole, some of us actually do know history.
Merry Christmas!
