Big items:
Wisconsin US Senate race. I say Thompson by 5 with Hovde/Fitzgerald a 2nd/3rd.
Florida US Senate race. Mack by a mile.
Florida CD-7, where blog favorite Sandy Adams is up against John Mica in a Republican incumbant-on-incumbant fight. Currently Mica leads 62-38% with 42% of the vote counted.
We will also be watching Republican turnout for the primary. If it is higher than what we saw during the Walker debacle AND the Presidential primary, I'll be dancing. On par, I'll be politely clapping the Badger State GOP.
*update- AOSHQDD calls FL SENATE R for Connie Mack IV. In R v D primaries, Democratic Incumbant US Senator Bill Nelson has 79% in his own primary, Mack has more votes (in a primary with 4 choices) than Nelson outright.
*update- AOSHQDD calls FL-7 R primary for Mica.
*update @ 8:08pm EST: AOSHQDD calls CT Senate primaries: Linda McMahon will be the Republican, Chris Murphy the Democrat facing each other in November. Murphy is favored to beat McMahon currently by 9 points.
*update @08:14pm EST: AOSHQDD calls FL-9 R primary for Todd Long, who wins the right to embarass Alan Grayson in November.
*update- I have Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington numbers up and ready to read, these counties will likely dictate who wins the primary. I'll be making projections ahead of the AP for the US Senate primary race after sampling a few other counties.

Hovde leading Thompson by about <1% with county results I have seen so far, 6% of precincts in. WOW beginning to trickle in. (calc'ing numbers slightly different from AP, so there may be a lag in overall numbers) Dane County is favoring Thompson, Brown favoring Hovde.
*update with 0.7% in, Fitzgerald is out.
*updated with 4% tracking, Neumann is out.
*updated- Thompson is losing Ozaukee county, barely trails in Waukesha County. Brown almost all in.
*Update- here's the deal: Washington, Ozaukee and Waukesha has the highest concentration of Republican voters in the state. Regardless his performance in Dane county, if Thompson doesn't leap ahead in the WOW, Hovde has won.
*Update- Thompson enjoying a 34% to 31% lead over Hovde.
Waukesha outstanding. Washington not in at all. Dane rolling in for Thompson, Ozaukee rolling in for Hovde (BARELY).
*Update Thompson has taken a narrow lead in Waukesha county with 64% of the county still outstanding. If he carries it, Hovde is doomed.
*Update- #AOSHDD call for WI race imminent.

DENVER—The rigors of the campaign trail have not kept Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan from his intense workout regimen, a daily tradition he observes religiously in the wee hours of the morning.
Ryan was spotted Tuesday in the gym of the Renaissance Denver Hotel working out to a P90X video on his iPad.
"I'm going to keep myself in shape, that's for sure," Ryan told Yahoo News on Monday when asked if he plans to keep up the habit while campaigning for vice president.
A former personal trainer, Ryan leads a group of members and staff in grueling pre-dawn workouts in the congressional gym in Washington, D.C., when the House is in session.

It looks like Mack is going to win with about 60% of the vote, and that will be enough to outpoll both Nelson and his no-name opposition combined. I like our chances in this one.

2. That we did detect it, but have stripped the fast attack fleet so thin to the point that we couldn't get someone underway to tail his ass.

3. Sosus needs funding. The only way it gets it is if Americans want to detect Sub incursions. The only way they get that "want better sosus" is if they are told when the bad guys come-a-knocking and we don't detect them.

In Florida, Rep Frederica Wilson (D) has landed the endorsement of President Obama in her racially tinged matchup with Haitian-American candidate Rudy Moise.
Wilson is African-American but represents the most heavily Haitian-American district in the country. She beat Moise 35 percent to 16 percent in a crowded field in 2010, but this year, itÂ’s one on one.

Thompson is the obvious choice in WI. The others are far less equipped for a general election. Mack has a very tough row to hoe, going against a multi- term incumbent, but at least he'll put up a helluva fight. Allen of course is a very strong candidate. Rehberg is a A+ candidate. Heller didn't have a primary. Lingle might actually make the Dems sweat in Hawaii of all places. Aiken is a very strong candidate and McCaskill is DOA. This time around there were not the likes of Angle, Buck, Miller or O'Donnell. You have to give Sen. Cornyn a lot of credit. This is the best slate of GOP Senate candidates in years. Excellent recruiting. Not too many self-defeating primaries. They've got a real good shot at retaking the chamber.

No you don't want that either. If your monitoring umpteen ships doing stuff back at the HQ you don't want 8 gazillion reports saying a bunch of vessels that weren't anyplace important, still aren't anyplace important. You assign a likely area of ops to a ship. You only want to know when the ship leaves that area, and where he is going. Once that information is had, it may be impactive, it may not be. So you evaluate and assign a new likely area of operation. Either way, it is impractical for the intelligence center to brief every dang pilot on the whole intelligence picture so they can understand exactly what kind of behavior is important and what kinds weren't. Maybe crossing the line is a BFD, just the result of which doesn't involve that plane but are involved in a much more complicated picture of both assets and diplomacy. So pilots need to be professionals and do their job and not lose focus because they don't see the fireworks response they want. Letting your planes crew get down on the mission. That is poor leadership, by the pilot.

I highly doubt the incredible apparatus set up to save Walker was dismantled in any way. It is humming for Romney and for whomever the R's pick for US Senate.
Wisconsin will be this year's embarassment for Obama much like North Carolina was for Republicans in 2008.

The State Constitution does not allow a person to be on the ballot twice, with the exception being if they are also on as Vice President or President. So he can keep his seat while running with Romney. If they were to win, his vacant seat would be chosen by special election.

The beautiful thing about Wisconsin is that not ONE R candidate for Senate abandoned Walker during the recall.
Total unity even if they all hated each other and wanted their spot.
Wisconsin is a state that Republicans have tried for years to turn red. Think what the Democrats have done in Colorado or Virginia. That level of intensity is pretty obvious in the Badger state.

Now that Obama's trashed the space industry here, and it probably being a good year for the GOP, it's very possible Bill Nelson will not win.
Connie Mack, while not a whole lot like his dad, is at least pretty fiscally conservative - and the name still commands a certain respect in FL.
It will undoubtedly be quite a contest.
My money is on Mack, FWIW.

John Glenn, what can I say about him? He admired the Kennedy's and wanted to be just like them (I call that naivete, he was never that rotten). His fundraising alter ego was a guy named Paul Tipps, who you would never know about outside of Ohio. Big Democrat party apparatchnik, made a lot of money building government housing, a real political hack. Onetime chairman of the Ohio Democrat Party. Actually not a nice person ....at all. And he and John were close political allies. That's what political ambition can do to you.
Frank Borman was extremely critical of Glenn's mission on the shuttle in 1998, and called it a political payoff for his ability to screw up Fred Thompson's hearings about Clinton fundraising shennanigans in 1996.
At the end, that's all Glenn is, a former Marine pilot (very admirable combat record in WWII and Korea), first American to orbit the Earth, and then an ambitious politician who eventually became a man that I think a young John Glenn would not like.
A few years ago I saw him at the Columbus Airport, and Maxine Waters was there at the same time, boarding a flight. There had been some big Democrat Party fundraiser, and Joe Biden was leaving on Air Force Two or something like that, and messing up the traffic that day.
So that's who Marine hero John Glenn runs with in his golden years. Maxine Waters and Joe Biden.

Ohio has had voter ID law for years.
There was a great amount of irregularity with the last Secretary of State (Democrat protege of Sherrod Brown, US Senator) and provisional ballots. Each county in Ohio has an equal number of Democrats and Republicans on their county voting commission, that works out local conditions for polling places, etc. The Secretary of State sets standardized voting practices. The Ohio Secretary of State just has to clean up the whole early voting policy, which has been, at times, somewhat muddy.
This is just some hyperbole tossed out there to be repeated by the mouth breathers on cable news.

I must be thinking of a different part. I don't recall that. If you mean the Daenerys character, basically she was bartered off by her brother. More of an arranged marriage than a captive. And that I do call marriage - I see marriage as primarily an economic construct, with the seriousness and finality of a blood pact. Whether it comes to be via an agreement born of love, or some kind of calculation, matters not to me.

Honestly, if he can just keep it *close* in Waukesha then I expect him to pull it out. That's the critical mass of conservative, committed GOP votes right there. Out-state, Thompson should have enough of a margin to hang on. (Though his numbers in Green Bay do puzzle and worry me.)
Hovde is too easily painted as a carpetbagger, and the charge WILL stick in the general election. I have my qualms with Tommy, but this ain't Charlie Crist we're talking about and you'd have to be foolin' yourself to think anyone else has a better chance of taking that seat away from the Dems.

Sure, but Hovde isn't exactly Ron Johnson Mk. II. He's a Washington DC lobbyist who moved back to the state last year after living in the DC for over a decade with the sole purpose of running for the Senate seat. It'll play pisspoor (understandably so) and there isn't a margin for error here.

Tommy was in the forefront of reforms in Wisconsin before reforms were cool. Maybe he's old school, and maybe he's a half-step behind where the conservative movement is today, but he's a solid Wisconsin Republican. And he can win this seat for us. In the end, in this cycle, it's about getting the win and flipping the Senate. And he can help us do that.

I'm a Fl voter but didn't even vote in this primary today as my district was really voting for Senate only (and a couple other local races that were not in doubt) and I knew Mack was going to win.
So you can probably add several thousand like me in noncompetitive districts to the Mack legion which has more votes than Nelson to make it even a larger victory for Mack in Nov.
Yeah, I should have voted in the primary but wasn't that inspired by the choices.

Unfortunately, Grayson will likely win. The district he's running in has been redistricted to be heavily Democratic. It would be a huge upset for Long to defeat him. Our best bet to get him off the national scene would be his head growing too big and him thinking he can win a statewide race for Senator or Governor or something.
