— DrewM House races have been getting short shrift this year and since I'm tired of "What About Your Gaffes?", I figured I might as well focus on some races that are either potential GOP pickups or seats we need to defend.
First up....Vernon Parker who is running in the newly created Arizona 9th Congressional District based around parts of Phoenix and nearby cities and suburbs.
Parker is a self made guy who was raised by his grandmother and then put himself through college and law school. On the issues he seems to have all the key boxes checked from the economy, abortion, Second Amendment and national security.
The GOP considers Parker such a rising star they tapped him to give last week's GOP response to Obama's weekly address.
Parker's opponent, former AZ state Senator Kyrsten Sinema, is probably one of the most radical leftwingers seeking election this year.
She's a former Ralph Nader spokesperson, Green Party official, pro-tax hike and self described "Prada Socialist" who opposed going into Afghanistan in 2001 but has been, um, evolving to a more center acceptable Democrat recently (remind you of anyone else you know? Say a guy from Chicago who now pretends to be President).
Take for example what Sinema thinks of stay at home moms.
"These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism because they're choosing to live that life. That's bullshit. I mean, what the fuck are we really talking about here?"
The funniest part is progressives seem to distrust her because of her apparent move to the more acceptable mainstream. So, either she's a hardcore lefty or a political hack. Either, she's not someone who should be in Congress.
This new district is considered a swing district so Parker is going to need help to get over the finish line here.
You can donate to his campaign here and if your in the Phoenix area contact the campaign about volunteer opportunities.
For more on Vernon Parker, follow him on Twitter or facebook.

"leeching off their husbands" =
presumably raising children?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that longterm one of the only things most people do that matters in any way is raise children.
Obviously in her perfect world you'd drop the kids off at the government school-farm at age seven and stop by to see them periodically.

You know, when I was a kid my mom stayed home and she wasn't "leeching off her husband" and "just cashing the checks"- she was making sure that the salary my dad brought home went far enough to house, feed, and clothe our family and pay all of the bills. They used to call that "home economics".
I'm not surprised that it is a field of endeavor that is denigrated by people who are unable to believe that a government should live within its means.

If progs like Sinema actually had the courage of their convictions, they'd commit suicide. In doing so, they would help Gaia heal from the "cancer" of humanity.
Why exactly, is it that they all want us to conform to their beliefs when they don't even believe their shit themselves?
....
Don't answer that. I already know the answer.

No, that woman's just an unfortunate victim of conservative oppression. The true feminist would've had three abortions and then proudly worn a t-shirt proclaiming it.

Last Friday an assailant shot pellets at Czech President Václav Klaus [center-right] seven times during
an official visit in Chrastava: video footage showed the presidentÂ’s security team oblivious to any danger, failing to
react.
The assailant successfully departed the scene and was even able to grant interviews to two TV stations before being arrested. The head of the presidentÂ’s security team has stepped down over the incident.
Left wing psychology has shifted from assassination-fantasy pie and glitter attacks to plastic BB gun assassination simulations.

Why are we focusing on House rances now? Senate's lost? Romney going down in flames?
What?
Take a look at the link Ben dropped in the middle of his list there. Pollsters reach 9% of the callers they try, and that doesn't even account for the millions (like me) who don't have landlines.
If you believe all is lost for Romney, it's because they want you to believe it. And you let them get under your skin.

Kyrsten Sinema is the nitwit who called for Sean Hannity to be arrested for illegally crossing the border in southern AZ. Hannity did a show a few years back at a 4ft. high barbed wire boarder fence in disrepair. He stepped over the fence to the south (Kyrsten, that's toward Mexico) and back again, to demonstrate the fallacy of the so called boarder fence. She saw this on TV and immediately call for his arrest. The stupidity of her overreaction was the fact that the boarder fence in located well within the US boundary. In fact it is 50 ft. north of the actual boarder.

I don't trust Drew or his motives.
The reason the House doesn't get talked about is because it doesn't do the left any good to talk about it. Remember 2 years ago? Everyone on the right was fired up about how many seats would be gained.
You can fight for this seat or that one, and some people need help getting over the top, but it strikes me as defeatist (from Drew?? NO WAY!!!) to suddenly decide we have to salvage what we can from this election.

This is tangential, but the Dem candidate reminded me of it. I'm depressed. I posted on FB last night "when did free birth control become the woman's issue of our age?", taking issue not with the birth control part but the free part, and now I'm in an argument with a good friend accusing me of being against women. This is a conservative Air Force officer currently serving in Basra (Maybe she's projecting the local attitude onto me?). I've told her several times that I don't care what people do sexually, I just think that they should take the responsibility of paying for their own birth control, yet I get told to "be honest, it just chaps your ass that there are women out there controlling their own sexuality". I've know her for decades! She knows that I don't feel or believe anything even close to what she's accusing me of. Now I'm rattled. Maybe this "war on women" BS is taking hold in the general population. Certainly she's the last person I would have expected that reaction from.

As an Arizonan, I can assure you that she has NOT "evolved". Devolved would be a more accurate description. That quote doesn't begin to describe how leftwing she is. She is pretending to have evolved because she no longer has a guaranteed win thanks to redistricting. I'm sure they were convinced she could still win even with fewer demo-drones to mindlessly pick the D on the ballot.
We got hosed on redistricting. A while back we tried to turn the makeup of the people who drew the boundries less partisan. The dems still founs a way to game the process. They got one of their people to pretend to be an "independant" which gave them a majority. So democrats got to re-draw the boundries. It's why we've had some Republican congressmen running against other Republican congressmen.

One dark and stormy night, in the quiet dormitory halls of Smith College, a young woman pondered her immediate future. Having run through the whole month's supply of "D" batteries in a week, and having energy to burn, she set off for a walk, despite the stormy weather. After a walk of a mile or two, the Northampton night sky was suddenly laced with lightning striking far closer than Julia Vagge had ever experienced before, almost following her. She scurried to the nearest shelter, a small disused Church by the side of the road. She had just placed her hand on the large iron door pull when a bolt of lightning smashed into the small steeple atop the Church, sending a rippling wave of energy through the building and into young Miss Vagge, sending her flying, unconscious, to the sodden ground....

I've been following the California Congressional races and I'll post my district by district assessments below. Like Arizona, our so-called bipartisan redistricting was stealthily and fraudulently infiltrated by the Dems. In an attempt to expand their #s from its current 34-19 split, they've had to cut the margins pretty slim and have already been ambushed in CA-31 as a result. I'll post my rundowns on the competitive districts below. The top four races to help at this point based on closeness and quality of candidate (on both sides) are as follows:
CA-7 http://www.danlungren.com/ Incumbent
CA-26 http://www.tonystrickland.com/ Challenger Incumbent district
CA-41 http://www.johntavaglioneforcongress.com/ Challenger New district
CA-52 http://bilbrayforcongress.com/ Incumbent
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 09:56 AM (lTmpG)
CA-7 Inc Lungren (R) *** http://www.danlungren.com/ vs Ami Bera (D) Lean Repub. RCP tossup One of 5 Cali districts labeled toss up by RCP, Lungren got 52.7% to Bera- 41% in the primary. Bera's got lots of $, is a big Obamacare lib, and has a slightly more Dem district than in 2010 when he came within about 5 pts. Nonetheless, I say Lungren whips him again. Lungren is not the fiscal hawk that his neighbor Tom McClintock is, but I've always liked him, even with his bad campaign for Governor vs the evil Gray Davis back in 2002. A fairly solid conservative vs a monied liberal Dem, he deserves all the support he can get.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 09:57 AM (lTmpG)
CA-9 Inc Jerry McInerney (D) vs Ch Ricky Gill (R) ** http://www.rickygill.com/letterfromricky.html Lean Dem. RCP tossup. Can this 24 year old son of Indian immigrants take out McInerney in this Stockton based Central Valley & suburban bay area district? Maybe Stockton's bankruptcy will give them a jolt. Gill and one other Republican garnered 52.2% of the total vote in the primary so its definitely within reach. However, some Kos wannabes report that he's down in one of their polls and take issue with his real roll and responsibilities in the family business. He just graduated law school at 24 so I don't see that as a a real issue, other than the fact that Gill is pretty wet behind the ears. Also, he's reportedly got "moderate" views to go with his family's money, so I'm less excited about this guy than I was at first. Listed as a tossup elsewhere, I say McInerney wins.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 09:59 AM (lTmpG)
CA-10 Inc Jeff Denham (R) http://www.denhamforcongress.com/ 8** vs Ch Jose Hernandez (D) Lean Repub. Fortunately for Denham, Hernandez is Dem's B team candidate, or is that the CA-21 Hernandez? I get confused. Woops, this one is the astronaut, so Denham has a race. But, in primary, Denham garnered 49% of vote + 15% for independent Condit (son of Gary, remember him?).
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:01 AM (lTmpG)
CA-16 Inc Jim Costa (D) vs Ch Brian Whelan (R) ** http://whelanforcongress.com/ Likely Dem. Comparable to CA-3. The "bipartisann commish dips the district lines into urban Fresno to pick up just enough Dems to probably, probably seal this for the donks. Repubs picked up 47.7% in primary vs 52.3 for Dems.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:02 AM (lTmpG)
CA-21 Ch David Valadao (R) *** http://valadaoforcongress.com/ vs Ch John Hernandez (D) Lean Repub. Son of Azorean immigrants, young farmer Valadao should beat Hernandez, the Dems leftover mistake candidate with little funding in this otherwise Lean Dem district. Newcomer Valadao picked up 57% of primary vote. One little proviso- the fact is, the Inland California Latino Dems tend not to vote in the primaries or in off year elections, but do tend to come around in Presidential general elections which the KOS guy explains too. Of all the Dem constituencies, latinos are staying most loyal this year (by about 2 to 1) compared to 2008. The question will be turnout vs 2008, of which I'm skeptical. Kind of an ultratypical latinoDEM district, the population is 71% Hispanic, 49% Hispanic as measured by propensity to vote, or VAP, and with a 46 to 35 Dem registration edge. And yet this will probably go Repub in the fall for one of 2 GOP pickups that weren't supposed to happen along with CA-31 and hopefully 41.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:03 AM (lTmpG)
CA-24 Inc Lois Capps (D) vs Abel Maldonado * (R) Lean Dem. RCP tossup. No linky for Liberal turncoat Repub Maldonado here. In their effort to maximize Dem delegation, the commish actually did the right thing, shortening and smoothing and competivizing this snakelike central coast district formerly running from Malibu to Monterrey. Maldonado & son of Robert, conservative Christopher Mitchum picked up 51.2% of vote in a fairly close race compared to 46.4 for Capps in the primary. The question is whether we RWers or Mitchum's voters can stomach uberRINO Maldonado causing the same mischief in the house as he did in Cali Senate & as LG under Ahnuld. Capps is relatively harmless dim bulb of a Dem, so for me this is one of those strategic non-votes serving the needed purpose of whacking the RINO's peepee as a warning to others. Too bad, its a winnable district for a legitimately moderate Repub one of these years. Abel's family's got tax troubles too.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:05 AM (lTmpG)
CA-26 Ch Strickland (R) http://www.tonystrickland.com/ *** vs Ch Brownley (D) Lean Repub. Another district labeled tossup by RCP, I can't see us losing this one. Primary breakdown was 44.1% for Strickland, 37.8% for Brownlee and other Dems, and 18.3% for former liberal Repub now independent Parks. Strickland has represented most of the district in State Senate and has backing of Repub establishment like McCarthy. The KOS guy thinks Strickland is too socially conservative for the district, but in fact Brownlee is a liberal carpetbagger from Santa Monica. The thought of Brownlee sinking her claws into this swing district is too much to bear.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:06 AM (lTmpG)
CA-33 Inc Henry Waxman (D) vs Bill Bloomfield (I) A Libertarian Special for Rob Long http://bloomfieldforcongress.com/about-bill-bloomfield/the-district/ * Likely Dem. I was unaware of this one until looking a little closer at my old Congressman's new district and opposition. Waxman's representation has spread westwards across West L.A. like the plague from my days as a teenager when he was first elected representing Hollywood, the Wilshire district and my old Silverlake neighborhood . But now, ultralib Henry has moved himself into Bob Dornan's old haunts in the South Bay, to go with his more familiar liberal ghettos of Malibu, Santa Monica, Rob's Venice, etc. But the South Bay doesn't know him, and he has a Libertarian leaning registered independent with money and a great business background running against him this year. A longshot, yes, but oh would this be sweet!
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:07 AM (lTmpG)
CA-36 Inc Mary Bono Mack (R) ** http://www.marybono.com/ vs Raul Ruiz (D) Lean Repub. Likely Repub per RCP. The commish didn't have a choice other than to lop off heavily black & hispanic Moreno Valley from California's most overpopulated district, making the rump somewhat more favorable for Repubs while helping to create a new, marginally Dem district in CA-41 (see below). Given that my Congresslady, Ms BonoMack won narrowly by 5 pts in 2010, you'd figure this borderline RINO would be in relatively good shape after beating the well funded openly gay Palm Springs Mayor Pougnet that year. Well, except that she's now running against Harvard educated, up from his bootstraps Dr. Raul Ruiz in the 35% or so hispanic district who's getting help from DCCC. There's a PPP poll showing him down 3 pts FWIT. Mary, as we know, made her way to the top the hard way. Girl must be a regular cougar between the sheets. See Bono, Sonny or Mack, Connie and the guy in between these two. So, she may be OK, having won the primary ballot with 58% of the vote, or she may not, if Ruiz & his backers inspire enough hispanics to the polls in November. Mary voted for Cap n Trade & some other RINO crap in this windmill infested desert, but she's no Maldonado. So she gets a linky and my vote come November. My stylus will be less than firm, however.

CA-41 Ch John Tavaglione (R) ** http://www.johntavaglioneforcongress.com/ vs Ch Mark Takano (D) Toss up. Rated Lean Dem by RCP. Like CA-31 Another inland district designed to have just enough minorities to elect an hispanic Dem. Of course, leave it to the Dems, Takano is of Japanese descent, and openly gay. Still, he's naturally a member of BOTH the Asian-Pacific islander something something and the Assoc of Latino CC trustees, so there! More to the point, he's a teacher and a Community College Trustee AND the one true "progressive" per the KOS wannabe's report, who has a realistic chance as a DEM challenger in California. I'd say Brownley is pretty progressive too but I guess KOS people have pretty high standards. Similar to AZ-9. As for Tavaglione, he's represented the Riverside part of the district as County Supervisor, has the endorsement of the main Riverside paper (no mean feat) and likes to "be open to compromise with the other side" so, ah, yeah. Still, a squish beats a prog in a district designed for a Dem and is probably a necessary evil in this case. Also I don't sense that Takano's as harmless as Capps while Tavaglione has yet to commit real treachery, unlike Maldonado. In the primary, Tavaglione & fellow Rs beat the Takano led Dems by 54.5 to 45.5. Takano has an internal poll showing him up by 42-38, which is actually encouraging to me given the source. That said, the Dems should win here as the district is about +6 Dem registration and everyone else I've read have this as likely or lean Dem. So this is my upset special-Tavaglione.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:14 AM (lTmpG)
CA-47 Ch Alan Lowenthal (D) vs Gary DeLong (R) *** http://www.garydelong.com/# *** Lean Dem. Again, this Long Beach/OC district is designed to have just enough DEMS, at least if your name is NOT Laura Richardson, which its not, by district design, it seems. Still, DeLong & fellow Repubs pulled 50% of the primary vote, and the Long Beach councilman would appear to have the local connections & savvy to pull an upset if things swing against the Dems this year.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:14 AM (lTmpG)
CA-52 Inc Brian Bilbray *** (R) http://bilbrayforcongress.com/ vs Scott Peters (D) Tossup. Ya gotta hand it it to the "bipartisan" commish. They created three, countem THREE potential Dem districts in San Diego County, where with any reasonably compact good government set of lines, there would be ONE. CA 51 snakes from Imperial Valley into the DEM portions of San Diego city and is all but lost, tho at least we'll be rid of the evil Bob Filner. With any luck this commie wackamole will get pounded righteously by the good citizens of San Diego in their upcoming mayoral contest. This is key for the prospects of pension reform in the city and state btw. As for Bilbray, he may be the most endangered Repub incumbent this year, not to mention a pro choice Tea Party supporter. Probably a good fit for his new gerrymandered coastal district. I say "may" because even tho he and his fellow Repubs failed to even clear 50% in the primary of his new district now packed with Issa & Hunter's dirty Dem leftovers, there are a couple of caveats. 1) Peterson & his primary opponent Lori Saldana ran neck & neck and now hate each other, and 2) It appears Mr. Peterson & wife may have had some interesting financial dealings involving her company while he's been on SD's council. So stay tuned & lend him your support. He needs it and his opponent has been the ultimate crony living off the teet of his wife's state enabled brokerage, figuratively at least.

GOP shootout in November
CA-8 Ch Greg Imus (R) **** vs Ch Paul Cook (R) *** http://www.joinpaulcook.com/ The one Cali district which can naturally expect to accomodate 2 Repubs over 1 Dem in the Jungle primary. I expect Assemblyman Cook to handily beat Minuteman Imus. Which almost makes me a little sad. We need a few GOP wackadoodles in elected office if for no other reason than to make the regular Tea Party conservative types like me seem normal to our vile, corrupt media and political establishment. I say almost makes me sad because in fact, the GOP does need to at least rhetorically reach out to hispanics in this state and others, and I doubt Imus would help there. But, I'd take either of these over our previous earmarking Republican whore Lewis any day of the week.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:21 AM (lTmpG)
CA-31 Inc Gary Miller (R) http://www.garymillerforcongress.com/ vs Ch Bob Dutton (R) http://www.duttonforcongress.com/ This is too delicious for words. As part of the Dems evil scheme to surreptitiously gerrymander and pack the California delegation with their evil kind, they created not one, but two majority latino/Dem districts in San Bernardino county, swiping a good chunk of incumbent Joe Baca's constituents in the process. Surely, the sharp, ambitious hispanic mayor Pete Aguilar of suburban college town Redlands, would be one of two candidates to be in the final two in the very first "jungle" primary vote to ever be held in the state. And sure enough, Pete bested his fellow Dems handily with his nearest Dem challenger Justin Kim behind him by almost ten points. Meanwhile, on the Republican side, they stupidly ran two, fairly equally matched competitors against each other, each garnering some 25% or so of the total primary vote. Only problem for Mr. Aguilar was that if there's anything one of their aspiring pols love to do, its run for office. And bless his heart he had two other fellow Dems besides Mr Kim who wanted to keep him company. Now, had the largely latino Dem primary voters turned up like they were supposed to, this would likely not have been a problem. But, in the end, this whole math thing turned out to be a little too hard for them. IE, getting sufficient votes for 2nd place when splitting 50% of the vote 4 ways is not easy, leastwise when the 2 Repubs were splitting their 50% almost evenly. So, a perfectly drawn Dem seat is now a whadda they say, a stone cold lock for the Repubs. The only question now is which Repub? For we Repubs I'd normally take whoever's the most Neanderthal in this situation. Of course the Dems who manage to stick their stylus in the machine for one of the Rs may think differently. But in any case we now have one guy (Miller) who went from royally screwed out of a viable district near his OC home, to being a longshot carpetbagger with some campaign dollars, to now running against a fellow Republican (Dutton) who's been representing the area in the State Senate for the last eight years. For us, I don't know that there's that much to choose from Tea Party/RINO wise. I don't sense either of them is either of these categories. But Dutton's served the area, has tons of local supporters, and seems like he could actually hold off the designated Dem come 2014 and beyond with a little money raised as an incumbent. The KOS guy says Dutton is soliciting Dem support, which is actually OK by me in this case given the district. My guess is that the candidateless Dem voters may tend to vote for him this November to their later regret. For Miller, his experience in the House will serve as a negative for the district Dems come 2014. My endorsement FWIW, Dutton. Oh, and as a bonus, Baca is now facing his own Dem opponent in a district that's less than his ideal.

Hot DEM on DEM Action
As a legacy Ahnuld & Abel's none too fertile minds, our State Dems will be faced with, lets see, seven, count em seven D vs D general elections for congress come November. Four of these could go either way or will involve more than one incumbent.
CA-15 Inc Pete Stark (D) vs Eric Swalwell (D) Stark's hippy infested east bay district has been sending his hating, socialist butt back to DC to prey on American citizens for I don't know how long. He got 42% of the vote vs 36% for Swalwell. My guess is that there are maybe 5 or 10% Repubs in the district. I don't know nothin bout the indy Pareja who lost, but my guess is most of his backers will vote for Swalwell and rid us of this vermin. If nothing else, Swalwell's got a great porn name for the hippies to think about. I expect all five Hayward Repubs to vote him in. )
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:24 AM (lTmpG)
CA-30 Inc Brad Sherman (D) vs Inc Howard Berman (D) From the heart of Porn Valley, Sherman garnered 42.5% to 32.4% of the jungle primary. Berman's been in Congress alongside his buddy H Waxman since I was but a pup and he and his baby brudder Michael were slaughtering Repubs with a flick of their maps. Unfortunately, and I mean that sincerely, I think Howard's about to go down to the slightly more smarmy and vile and liberal Brad Sherman. A 9/20 SurveyUSA poll has Sherman over Berman at 45-32%. Too bad, because Howard has actually been fairly solid on defense & foreign policy matters as well as being a reliable Hollywood hack.
Posted by: smokedaddy at October 01, 2012 10:24 AM (lTmpG)
CA-35 Inc Joe Baca (D) vs Gloria Negrete McCleod (D) Baca -45% vs Negrete-McCleod 38% in primary. Truthfully, I don't know who's worse, just that they hate each other, which is good. Anytime Dem pols are raising $ to trash each other as opposed to say, opposing Prop 32 or other Repubs, thats a good thing, at least in these hard core, Democrat packed, urban districts. May even get one or two who solicit Republican votes and are worth engaging in and doing some actual, you know, legislation.
CA-44 Inc Maxine Waters (D) vs Bob Flores (D) Waters 64% vs Flores 36% in primary. I wasn't going to review this one, since Waters should win handily, but her days may be numbered in South L.A. given the black flight. It'll be interesting to check the numbers for the presumably more hispanic heavy general election vs the primary.
CA-45 Inc Janice Hahn (D) vs Inc Laura Richardson (D) Hahn 60% vs Richardson 40% in primary. In the game of musical chairs amongst the seemingly bottomless well of LA County Democrat women of color in Congress, Richardson will lose to the gangsta loving white chick. Couldn't happen to a nicer gal. I used to think there was no one more mean, vile & corrupt in Congress than Maxine Waters, but I was wrong. Hope her abused former staffers get drunk as hell come election night.
