I wonder what New Hampshire looks like now.

Or dare I say...New Jersey

updated: race with leaners. without leaners, Obama 49% Romney 45%; same poll finds McMahon behind Murphy by 5%

If these percentages were to match the 2008 race...

That means Obama has shedded 100k votes while Romney has gained 100k.

A nearly 300k vote gap between Obama and McCain has become 100k.

Again, this shows just how big the next 3 debates are.

We string those together then...

Pudding.

I'm a former New Yorker now living in CT for 15 years.  CT often toys with the Republicans.  Polls will show that you may have a chance, but then come election day...Boom..the big cities of Hartford, Bridgeport, New Haven bring in the Dem and Dead vote....and you find you lost by hair.  I had high hopes that my congressman Himes would lose in the Republican wave of 2010, but no luck.  Even the clueless Dan Malloy won as govenorship (mostly due to keeping the Bridgeport polling places open a couple of hour later than rules allow).

Maybe this year will be different and we elect Linda McMahon (R) as Senator.....but I'm not holding my breath.

5 Pretty sure Bridgeport will be able to generate enough voting irregularities to ensure CT for Obama.

yeah, they always find the ballots in someones trunk in bpt to push the dem's over the top. I don't think we'll go republican in the presidential this time around, but I do think mcmahon could conceivably win, as long as she pulls ahead to be outside the margin of cheat.

Good news would be polling showing it closing up so that team O has to waste money running ads in the hartford (or better yet) ffld county market and throw a ton of money away that would otherwise be spent in actually competitive races.

44 I just don't see how Obama wins if you have Blue States that should be easy double digit wins becoming squeakers. Connecticut being a 5 point race would be like a 5 point race in South Carolina or Texas for Romney.

Posted by: Sallie at October 09, 2012 09:32 AM (r1Z+O)

45 Give Sully some credit. His meltdown during the debate was spot-on. I'm sure he was fixated on body language, and he knew Romney was the alpha, and Barky was the beta. He'd never admit it, but his ass was probably itching for Romney that night. In other words, Barky's huge lead with women went bye-bye that night.

Posted by: Spike at October 09, 2012 09:33 AM (I4NNt)

46 So, maybe that's what the Romney campaign has been doing to spook (I know, I'm denounced) the Obama campaign:

They've been giving them rock-solid, no BS polls from some blue states, states the JEF figures to win by double digits and, instead, he's only up by 3% or 5%.

56 Well, not to bob on my own knob, but FYI the Connecticut thing was known   to some of us many weeks ago.  Back in August, while the chattering classes   still were OCD'ing about tax returns and contraceptives, and before WaPo,   CBS/NYT and krewe started their coordinated effort to depress conservative   turnout and to suppress Romney's fundraising, Quinnipiac came out with a CT   poll that showed Obama up by 7 points.  Nobody cared about it.  Nobody   worried about it.  I'm not entirely sure that anybody knew about it.  But think   about the tell-tale signals that that poll was sending.  Back in '08 Obama won   CT by 23 points.  No GOP Prez candidate had taken CT since 1988.  The Q   hardly is a Republican-friendly polling service.  So obviously if Obama in CT   only was up by around 7 points that meant he was behind nationally and   behind in the key swing states, most notably OH and FL.  If at this point   Obama only is up in CT by around 4-5 points then that explains a lot of the   desperation we've seen recently from Team Obama.  That all said, however,   elections are not over until the final dead felon votes 2x in St. Louis, if you   catch my drift.  It still will take a herculean effort to oust Obama from office.    He won't go quietly into the night.

Malloy is very unpopular, McMahon has a shot (Murphy is a terrible candidate), but if CT tightens to a few points, then the cascade theory is in effect for the rest of the country
