— CAC 50-46. Red states Romney 56-40. Blue states Obama only 52-44. Swing states Romney 50-47.
Last week, Romney +2, to which PPP tweeted:

From the Pew Research Center:
Six-in-ten voters say they watched at least a little of last Thursday nightÂ’s vice-presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan at Centre College in Danville, KY. Among debate watchers, as many say Biden did the better job (47%) as say Ryan (46%). Â…
Republican voters overwhelmingly say Ryan did the better job in the debate (88%); a comparable percentage of Democrats (89%) say Biden did the better job. Among independents, 50% say Ryan did better, 39% say Biden.

Hey, look at that--something that finally indicates that the 2010 mid-terms did, in fact, happen.
I believe the record shows that I called this six months ago on this very blog and further more I said that it would not be close. Mitt's going to land in the 54-ish range nationally. OH, VA, FL, CO, NV, IA, WI, NH, and MI will be in the fold. PA will be thisclose.

Silver is a former Daily Kos diarist who is basically a 1-hit wonder for saying the Gallup poll in 2008 was accurate despite the McCain campaigns insistence the race was closer.
Yeah, some big "cut through the bullshit" guy he is, former Kos Diarist.

Anyway, "Go for it Champ."
Please do, please.
Because not Bachmann, nor Perry, neither Cain, nor Santorum and certainly not Gingrich dared challenge Romney on his flip-flops during the primaries--such calumny would have been too far out of bounds.
As Senator Clownfart says, "I was there!"
If they really think calling Romney on his flip-flops is a fresh, new attack that Romney won't be able to explain or counter, well, could we really be so lucky to have such opponents?
On the other hand: I suspect a double-down on the Biden Strategy is really the play they are going for here. No, not the "be an asshole and a jerk." No: The JEF is going to try to get ad and teevee news footage at all costs.
The JEF is probably going to try to fluster and stymie Romney; he's looking for a clip of Romney stumbling and stuttering. And he is going to go all out to get it. He needs it, he has to have it, the "comeback" narrative requires footage of him getting Romney on the ropes.
Problem is for Mr. Debater, better men than he came at Romney and not a one so much as made him sweat. He smiled, maybe a little chuckle, then completely ruined them.

Linky no say so. If used for that it would have to be REQUESTED, so the WOMAN would want it. No one has mandated an invasive ultra sound anywhere. In infertility cases, where a woman WANTED a child, I can see that being done.
I suspect bleeding in an early WANTED pregnancy would be a concern for a parent and they would request it.
My neighbor spent $10,000's to get pregnant, I suspect she would of had an ultra sound like this, since she had lost several implanted eggs. She now has three childern!

Billy Bob, you obviously never had children (or like me, had a pregnant wife who went in with her to identify the sex of the child). Don't be insistent once you're shown to be ignorant. It makes you an ass.
You're wrong, move on.
Sticking a wand in a woman's hoo-haa is pretty damn invasive. Concede the point, or just admit that yeah, some things the state does are invasive. But don't argue that an internal ultrasound doesn't exist or is only for abortions or whatever. We don't have to be DU.

No one is surprised that Obama and "Rev" Wright have deeper political ties. Nothing that happened before the 2008 election (as far as Obama goes) is going to move the needle. His adherents either don't believe or don't care, his opponents already oppose, and the middle is going to think, "Well, why didn't you bring this up back then?"
So even if you do find something truly explosive, before long, no one is going to check in when you say you've got some "explosive revelation," because they're going to remember all the nothing burgers from before.

Problem is for Mr. Debater, better men than he came at Romney and not a one so much as made him sweat. He smiled, maybe a little chuckle, then completely ruined them.
Not to mention that Jugears is passive-aggressive. He's a tough guy when no one's there to challenge him. He folded like a cheap suit during the debate but at his rally the next day he was cocky and all snark. I don't think he has it in him to be forceful and aggressive without seeming desperate, nasty, or just plain phony.

Kos explains the PPP poll demos in his final paragraph:
Finally, a demographic note—in this poll, 44 percent of respondents were conservative, compared to 16 percent who were liberal. In 2008, 34 percent were conservative, and 22 percent were liberal. Now this could point to a bad sample, or it could point to depressed enthusiasm among our base. Let's really hope it's the former.

Why does Mitt Romney want to kill old people?
Why does Mitt Romney want to rape women and force them to keep any pregnancy that might result?
Why does Mitt Romney want to stone gays?
Why does Mitt Romney want to kill sick people?
Why does Mitt Romney hate teachers?
Why does Mitt Romney want to lynch black people?
Why does Mitt Romney want to push illegal immigrants into big ovens and set them on fire?
Why does Mitt Romney belong to a cult?
Why is Barack Obama such an awesome guy?

That wand shit was the worst fucking part of that bill, and will keep getting dredged up until it is clearly rejected by conservatives, or justified. I think it can be justified, but not by saying it doesn't happen or by minimizing it.
This is a life we are talking about taking, so yes, it deserves more than a passing mention. the mother should be required to look at her child. It is a moving experience.
The response should be that the Left only opposes it because it would reduce abortions, and that they are done without thinking of all the consequences. That is a bad thing, not only for the babies, but for truly informed "choice."

Oh, and besides the craziness of saying "pre-abortion procedure is too invasive", there was this little inconvenient fact:
>>In a 2003 study of Planned Parenthood and other independently owned abortion facilities, 99% of these clinics admitted that they either "always" or "sometimes" perform an ultrasound in association with a surgical abortion. Further, it was stated that vaginal ultrasounds were "always "performed before the early surgical abortion at 83% of these sites, 16% "under certain conditions" , and only 1% "never" did them.

I love abortion debates on Ace. I'm not surprised with the Times editorial. Frankly that is the only arrow they have left. Vote for Obama or Roe gets overturned. It's ok if that is one of your issues, but when it is your only issue, it probably won't work. For the reasons they fear, the Times knows that a majority of the people in this country favor some abortion prohibitions (if not an outright ban).
Regarding the ultrasound, I understand from a pro-life position why you would want to require that. Pro-lifers pretty much all agree that ultrasounds have helped the pro-life cause. And while I would agree that if ultrasounds were required, there would be fewer abortions, I'm not sure it is the best way to move the debate. From a libertarian perspective, we should not be pushing procedures (invasive or otherwise) onto people, particularly pregnant people. I worry that this could potentially set back the cause that IMO, we are winning. Why give abortion proponents some sort of hammer to use.

That's part of the lie. Abortion providers were already doing ultrasounds, and (at least in the TX sonogram bill) the number of times that the transvaginal ultrasound is required are incredibly rare.
Again, these sonogram bills are not forcing the providers to do anything they weren't already doing- and if they weren't already doing them, they should have been for health and safety reasons, if nothing else. All they're requiring is that the women be fully informed of what they're doing- including the actual stage of development of that human being inside them.
In TX, they don't even have to look, but the provider does have to describe. Even there, the woman can waive that, but she has to actively elect to do so (including signing a form).

@305/311.
305 is right. It doesn't matter whether you have this "invasive" procedure at other times. It is who is doing the mandating. If government is mandating it, it is a problem.
311 - you may be right about the particulars of the Texas bill, but it still has the appearance of being a mandate of some sort. So from a political perspective, I'm not sure it is beneficial to the cause.
Believe me I am torn on these ultrasound bills. I see the benefit to them. But I much prefer the "counseling" angle over this, such as describing what your baby looks like, how big, what has developed, etc. I believe that more effective anyway, but have no way to prove it.
All are making good points.

Out here in Barakastan I'm seeing more and more brave souls putting up Romney/Ryan yard signs, and amazingly they outnumber signs for Barky.
Barky signs tend to show up in yards that have signs for all of the downticket candidates as well, which makes for a cluttered display.
Romney/Ryan signs tend to stand alone.

We are going to clean out that nest of shit, it will take some time.
Or as Jesse Helms suggested, we will just build a fence around it to keep them from infecting the rest of the state.

That's how the Kermit Gosnell horror chamber was allowed to continue for a dozen years, unsupervised, unchecked. Complaints from local ER physicians and other personnel went unheeded. (These were the professionals treating the women who suffered uterine perforation and other damage during a Gosnell abortion.) Forty six lawsuits filed against him, and it never raised a red flag.
The only reason he was busted was because the feds were onto his prescription drug pushing scheme. The state "oversight" agencies had let him continue to maim and kill all those years.

I met then-candidate for the US Senate from Illinois - aka Barky - back in 2004. Actually I didn't get to "meet" him, several of us were introduced to him at a public event, and he took one look at us, said something insulting, and stormed off.
Afterwards, whenever I would tell the story, people would think I was making it up, oh noes Barky isn't like that, Barky's a politician, he loves meeting people, look at all those events where he's smiling and meeting people.
I'm here to tell you Barky does NOT like people, and the sneering, hateful side of his personality that occasionally comes out really is the true Barky.
