“The polling is very clear that the race is certainly up for grabs and Republicans have a tendency to never believe it,” Susquehanna President James Lee told The Examiner. Romney isn’t spending much time or money in Pennsylvania, which hasn’t backed a Republican presidential candidate since 1988.

Lee said Romney has made significant gains in the all-important suburbs of Philadelphia, a ring of counties that helped push Obama to victory in 2008. “Republicans haven’t been able to do that in 20 years,” Lee said. “Romney has made some major inroads.” Lee said Romney also gained ground in western Pennsylvania, where socially conservative, blue-collar Democrats have turned their backs on Obama.

Posted by: Artruen at October 18, 2012 02:20 PM (fDGF1)

85 I also think Romney has Wisconsin. Two main reasons 1) Wisconsinites are very parochial which gives Ryan more impact than he would have in other states (note crazed Packers fans) 2) Ryan is in a pretty strongly Democratic district. That should result in more people flipping from Obama in that district, which might work out to an extra percent or so statewide. (Has anybody through this angle through? It might not show up in polls that well if Obama voters have a hard time admitting that they've flipped.)

108 I told Ace himself back in August when he came near these parts, the Indys and Dem undecideds were not happy about The won. I know 5 Dems who voted BHO last time, 4 women, 1 lifelong union guy, all the women are voting Romney, even the liberal Dem one, and the union guy refuses to say -- even to his wife -- who he's voting for this time. [Hint - not SCOAMF].

There are virtually NO Obama signs here. 98% less than 2008, not an exaggeration, I was counting them every day on my way to work then, and now -- it's easy there are so few. Also few Romney signs.

If Mitt loses PA by 2% that's one thing, if he loses by 0.2% it'll be a disgrace because he's taken his eye off the ball here and not run any ads the past 2 months or so.

111 Eh. This poll is like a nip slip from the hot barista. I'm enjoying the shit out of it but I won't start thinking there's anything there unless it happens again.

112 i have to take some credit for the gallop poll results since i was polled by gallop  on my cell phone friday night. I guess they were hunting a minority and missed

113 I am here in Western PA and despite the mix up of Obama and Romney signs, almost all vehicles have NO bumper stickers. This is NOT 2008. Everybody is keeping their cards close to their vests. I am from PR (hence an American minority) and it's too bad PR cannot vote because they HAAAATE him and wanna kick his ass. His visit there was a total blunder-he only collected about $350,000-enough for a couple of trips on AF1.

Over here tho there's tons of military, active duty and vets, hunters and fishermen. The opposite side of my town I bet it is another story! I participated in a CBS poll and the pollster seemed a bit uncomfortable jotting down my answers. Maybe a memory foam on her seat would've helped.

The overkill is that I am Hispanic, a woman and a diehard Republican news junkie. And a baby moronette to boot.
