Up, up, upbeat.   GREAT crowd at the Wisconsin State Fair today.   Romney looked, not just energetic, but happy, and LOOSE.   He knows he's four days away from winning this thing.   They have the internals to show it.   I can just feel it.

27 I'm in the freakout column, because I think -- as I predicted -- Sandy has swung momentum back to Obama, and recent polling supports this. Like William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, a brilliant guy, I think that's a real phenomena. Also like him, I agree the only solution is to ignore that fact or even be spurred on by it and get out the vote. Mitt Romney was winning before the Sandy inflection point, and hopefully by enough to carry it out. Maybe my fears will prove unfounded. I still think Romney will pull out a narrow win. But I have in fact overestimated GOP performance for the last 3 elections, while I've seen the commenters here as a group have way, way overestimated perfomance during the same period -- even during those elections the GOP won. So this realization is kind of a drag.

The Sandy bounce for Obama is about to turn into a Sandy disaster.   He did the photo ops, so he owns the hurricane recovery, and over the weekend you are going to be hearing stories about people defecating in halls, no food, no power, no gas, angry people, violence, shootings, etc., and Mayor Marathon will increasingly look like an albatross around the One's neck.

52 I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

60 The fact that such a failed, irresponsible, unworthy, lying, leftist, anti-American president is in such a tight race against a such plausible and competent opponent, instead of facing the certainty of a Carter-type repudiation by the electorate, is a very sobering indicator of the state of our country. It confirms the view, held by some on the right, that America has already been transformed into a different country, Even if the Republicans manage to pull out a victory this time, and in office slow down the countryÂ’s leftist march somewhat, and in particular stop the imminent catastrophe of Obamacare, all of which I very much hope happens, America in the long run is still lost. Our future is to be a country ruled by a coalition of  parasites and   leftist scum.

64 So I had to google this Nate Silver guy to see why some posters on another blog I read (non-politics) think Obama is a shoe-in based on his predictions.  Let me get this right.. he accurately predicted 49/50 states in one presidential election (200 , an election that wasn't even close, and that makes him some statistical Nostradamus? Take out the solid blue/solid red states (which aren't difficult to guess), and we're talking about accurately guessing at most two dozen state results right -in one election that, once again, wasn't close- and that's supposed to make his predictions gospel?

Statistical significance.. I don't think it means what you think it means.

I think that whatever 'bump' Barky may have gotten from his grandstanding on the Hurricane stage...will soon be over.

We're only in Day 3 of the aftermath.

It's getting ugly...and it will continue to get ugly.

Fox is going to be on the air all weekend, doing coverage of the Election, the ongoing nightmare of NY/NJ Aftermath...and updates on Benghazi.

This should help.

I remain...hopeful.

Not freaking out.

Not pre-gloating.

Worst case scenario -- Barky wins?

We will survive it.

It will get bad, but we will survive it somehow.

We have to.

Romney is going to so many states that I never thought we would spend a dime in that I can't keep up.

ItÂ’s like calling three consecutive time outs before we were about to kick the winning field goal." I.e., this is why I wrote, "Like William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, a brilliant guy, I think that's a real phenomena." Further, he OBVIOUSLY thinks it's a real phenomena, because he went on to write this: "ItÂ’s tough though not to get completely sidetracked. But IÂ’m trying really hard." http://goo.gl/HSxMO So yeah, LI did say what I claimed he said. And in the end, he's right. One minor note from the Wisconsin State Fair rally:

Romney talks without notes, without teleprompter, but he remembers and mentions everyone's names who has spoken before him or has helped him with the event.   Very impressive.   He's 65, but he doesn't look it, and he doesn't look tired at all.

201 I don't see much confidence on the left, either. I see a lot of bluster without much evidence to back it up. They are clinging to polls that just last week they dismissed. They are failing to acknowledge that Obama, Biden, and Clinton are not drawing large crowds. They are still dismissing Romney as if he isn't worthy of respect even though he is even or ahead in the data that matters. They are spinning a strategy that they used in 2008 as completely hopeless. Playing on someone else's turf in somehow a sign of weakness in 2012. And lastly, they don't even attempt to make a case for Obama.

287 That michigan poll with 41/30/29 only has Obie winning MI by 52% with a head start of 41% D's. That means, he only gets 11 from 29, I's. Romney is up 63 to 37 with I's in Michigan, that's the takeaway. If the DRI is closer to 35/30/35, that's only 48% for Obama, 52%R wow. again, depends on what a realistic DRI for MI is

I know no one in my circles (church, homeschool) who wouldn't vote for a Mormon (unless that Mormon was Harry Reid). One woman on the local homeschool listserv I subscribe to was apparently dithering over whether to vote for Romney or sit it out. When she announced that she was voting for Romney, she was greeted by a flood of supportive responses. I'm sure they are out there, but as someone up thread pointed out there is a lot more evangelical enthusiasm for Romney than there was for McCain.

My pulled from thin air says that at least 1% that voted for him to "be a part of history" won't be doing it again, at least 1% that voted for him won't because the economy still sucks, and at least 1% o that voted for him because McCain sucked so bad won't. 308 Also, worse case scenario is Obama wins in a squeaker. You think he will be effective? LOL! He will hate being prez for the next 4 years if he wins. Best of all, the press will lose it all. If Romeny wins, they can claim they are holding those in power accountable, but if their man wins, they will have to chug cock for 4 more years until even the brain dead get it,. So, if Romney loses, don't freak out - the money is running out and when that happens the Dems have no clothes. Romney will win if everyone gets out the vote and kicks ass. Just keep one image in your mind...Nov. 7th...won't it be sweet to watch the libs analyze their complete loss?

310 Michael Barone's prediction for Ohio (1 . The anti-Romney auto bailout ads have Obama running well enough among blue-collar voters for him to lead most polls. But many polls anticipate a more Democratic electorate than in 2008. Early voting tells another story, and so does the registration decline in Cleveland's Cuyahoga County. In 2004, intensity among rural, small -town and evangelical voters, undetected by political reporters who don't mix in such circles, produced a narrow Bush victory. I see that happening again. Romney.

334 Nevada Early Vote Update (One Day Left To Go) After the second to last day of early voting, the Democrats have a lead of 45K raw voters over Republicans; this shrinks to less than 40K when absentees that have been turned-in already are included. After 13 days of early voting in 2008, the Democrats had an advantage of 76K in Clark County. The Democrats raw vote advantage is down 79% in Clark County from 2008, though the total number of votes has increased by about 11%, relative to four years ago. This results in a 71% reduction in their vote advantage compared to 2008 for early voting. Absentees are coming in at about 1/7 of the early votes. At this 71% reduction in advantage for the Democrats, their projected early vote lead will be about 15%, or about 66K in Clark County. Assuming that early votes are about 70% of the total vote, and with an 80% turnout, this would give a lead for the Democrats in Clark County at about 75K, if a similar reduction in advantage for election day vote advantage is applied and assuming that 2012 trends like in 2008 (with Democrat vote advantage shrunk to 71%, and 112% of the early voters). Washoe county continues to trend towards being an overall wash (pun intended) with a less than 1000 vote difference between Republicans and Democrats. The strong GOP turnout amongst the rural counties is the only thing that is blunting the Democratic raw vote advantage in Clark County of about 60K. With Washoe coming in about even, and the rural counties coming in at perhaps 25K (They are already +17K for the Republicans so far) in favor of the Republicans total, this would result in the Democrats having a raw vote lead of 50K. With an 80% turnout, this would result in a lead for Obama of just over 5%. This is good news for Sen. Dean Heller, who has been polling 4-6% ahead of Auton-American Shelley Berkley (D – Nestene Consiousness). This is assuming that 2012 will play out similar to 2008 when it comes down to relative advantage between early votes, absentee votes, and election day votes. For example, the advantage for the Democrats in early voting (22% on the 13th day of early voting), dropped to 14½% by election day. Perhaps a more ominous comparison then 2008 is actually 2010. In 2010 the early vote spread matched up with the total vote spread, being 8%. If 2012 follows 2010, than the Democrats would a voter lead in Clark County of over 100 votes, with a total statewide lead of 75K votes, all else equal. This would result in not only an Obama victory, but could clench the Senate seat for Auton-American Shelley Berkley (D – Nestene Consiousness). Ironically, even though 2010 was a good year for Republicans in Nevada (Harry Reid’s reelection aside), the turnout trends would be worse if applied to 2012. If it is true what the RNC is saying, and the Dems have burned through far more of their high propensity voters, than a 2008 trend might be the more plausible one. Democrats depend heavily on margins in inner-city Milwaukee (population down) and the Madison university community. But early voting is down in university towns in other states. The Obama campaign is prepared to turn out a big student vote, but you don't see many Obama signs on campuses. Romney. Oregon (7), New Mexico (5), New Jersey (14). Uncontested. Obama. Michigan (16). First, Sandy isn't doing anything for JEF. Or Bloomy, for that matter.....he's just cancelled the marathon.... At best, it serves as a shiny new squirrel to distract us for a few days. The picture of Bammy carefully avoiding any actual people as he 'tours' a stretch of beach, while people in Staten Island are pooping in the halls, is not something anyone is going to characterize as good optics.

So, yeah. I'm pre gloating. This hurricane demonstrates yet again what a wishy washy dithering idiot TFG, (and supporters like Mayor Bloomy), is/are. Staten Island is a microcosm of what he promised the rest of America....little, or no fuel. Scarce electricity. Local produce only. All his bigger/better government is doing what, exactly?

365 Katrina: Oh your poor people
Sandy: Suck it, 1%ers

That's something I've been hitting on all day. My family had a second
home at the Jersey shore. My wife's family had a second home at the
Jersey shore. Everyone we knew up and down the (barely there, now)
street, it was a second home.

Obama and Christie shed a whole bunch of fake tears over second homes.
While the people in NYC are powerless and Obama has gone back to
campaigning.

I'm not sure if Obama's 'base' gets it, but I do.

366 Ah, the 90s... waiting two weeks for test results, and still not being sure.

****

I showed up at the clinic for my results and they took me into a tiny little room and asked what I was going to do if the results were positive. They also asked if I was prepared to provide a list of all my sexual partners.

THEN they told me it was negative.

Brilliant tactic.

368 "But did Romney shift 9.5 million votes his way overall between '08 and now? Not so sure."

16 point shift in Independents alone is a 6 million vote shift.  Obama won by 9.5 million.  You only need to move 4.75 million.

President Romney.

415 Okay, I'll do the eeyore-ish freakout for everyone. Smart guys with tons of experience are telling me that Romney will win; not counting Dick Morris because that guy's predictions are like crosses to vampires. And the more confident everyone sounds, the more I get worried. Imagine that everything is lined up for a Romney win and then TFG wins reelection. It was bad when McCain lost, but everyone really expected him to lose. But a Romney loss after so much optimism would be traumatic, which is why I'm freaking out right now. Heck, I can barely sleep at night because I'm so worried. And I want nothing more than to be proven dead wrong on election night. If PA flips to Romney, I'm going to bed to catch up on sleep. I will of course record MSNBC so that I can gloat over the gnashing of teeth and rending of clothes that will be sure to happen.
