— Ace I linked a clip of these guys explaining Kenny Roger's horrifying "Coward of the County" earlier in the week.
Another funny bit from this same show is a woman calling in to explain her "sexceptions list," a list of five people her husband has agreed she could sleep with should she ever get the chance. On her her list are people like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Ben Affleck. Her husband's list is more... practical-minded, and she doesn't understand why he's "wasting" his list by filling it with "lame" picks like "the girl from the Safeway deli counter, the girl at the gym with the big boobs..."
But the whole show is funny. If you've got something to do while you play it in the background, I'd just go ahead and play all ten parts, starting with this one. It's about 100 minutes total, something like that.
This is from before the 2008 election, and they also both signal they're dislike of Obama. They don't talk much about it, and it's tentative and not flame-throwing like actual red-meat conservatives would give you, but it's nice to hear someone in entertainment not digging Obama before not digging Obama was cool.
Funny stuff. Bear in mind it's unrated and there's a lot of cursing and some sex talk in there.

I would say the almost 40 minute gap between these indicates where it got taken down and theat the prior comments were fully restored.

For the first few months Obama was included on the list of possible 2008 candidates, I thought Barack Obama was Kwesi Mfume.

I just listened to the Kenny Rogers link...
I shit you not, ace, I had this conversation with my best friend in 1994. I had a copy of this in my car while we were on a road trip. He remarked on the presence of a KR tape in my rig and I threw it in...he proceeded to tell me how this was his favorite song when he was little, because his sister's name was Becky.
He hadn't listened to it since he was like seven or so.
Needless to say, that was how we got on the very same subject as he had no idea the song was, in part, about a rape of a girl named 'Becky'.

Anyone know where I can find this on podcast?
BTW, some historical trivia on the Kenny Rogers song. Way back when people read newspapers, the top 10 songs of the week were listed in small type in the Sunday entertainment section. Since the list came off the wire, I guess the editors never proofed it. For weeks, "Coward of the County" appeared as "Coward of the Country," which made the protagonist sound even smaller than Rogers intended.

I don't get the Coward of the County hate. Yes, it's about rape, but it's also about beating the shit out of rapists. So, happy ending.

It's not a short story or a fable, it's a song. A song with a catchy little tune.
I mean, was he sitting around one day thinking of rape and thought HEY! What great subject matter for a song!?

He did always make clear that he didn't think electing Obama was going to change a damn thing. So at least he didn't buy into the Hope and Change personality cult.
