Giving thanks... (tmi3rd)
— Open Blogger

So, on this Thanksgiving evening, I wanted to run some things by you about why IÂ’m especially thankful this time around. Reason One is below the fold. First of all, folks, IÂ’d like to introduce you to the newest Moronette. She doesnÂ’t have a name that reduces easily to a cool handle like tmi4th does, so bear with me while I work on a name. Mrs. tmi3rd didnÂ’t like what I came up with, so weÂ’ll just keep working on it.

Lizzie1.jpg

She was born a couple of weeks ago, and she and Mommy are doing great. EveryoneÂ’s home, and tmi4th is really taking the whole big-brother thing very seriously, as is the Wonder Dog. Needless to say, thereÂ’s much to be thankful in the tmi3rd household.

As she snuggles in, it reminds me as well why we do what we do here, and thatÂ’s our little part to try to preserve our way of life. It reminds me that I want to provide as much for my children as I had growing up. If there was ever a time to be thankful for motivation, itÂ’s now.

IÂ’m also thankful for a gift that is extraordinarily hard to quantify, and thatÂ’s the Moron Nation.

The Moron Nation has greeted us everywhere weÂ’ve moved (and thatÂ’s a bunch of places, IÂ’m here to tell you). Every member of the nation has their own story and own idiosyncrasies, but weÂ’re all tied together by a belief in the great nation we were blessed enough to be born in.

As such, this is a mark in history for the birth of my daughter, but also as a tribute to you, my friendsÂ… I sleep very well as a father knowing that my children have thousands of surrogate aunts and uncles around the nation (hell, around the world) who believe similarly to their daddy. It is the combination of them and you that remind me, every day, that I can never give up on our nationÂ… giving up on our nation would mean giving up on you, and I cannot- I WILL NOT- do that.

For this, Morons and Moronettes; for the gift of hope, for the gift of reinforcing my belief in our great nation, I thank you. May God bless each and every one of you on this day where we as a nation pause to thank our Creator for all that we have.

-tmi3rd

In the meantime, I'm going to try to get tmi4th into bed without waking up my little princess. And thanks for the good wishes, folks... again, y'all are living proof that there are many things worth fighting for.

26 tmi3rd, she is beautiful!! Best wishes to mom and big brother as well! I hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving today. My daughter was able to help me cook for the first time in five years, now. She made the pies, which were awesome, and was my sous chef for everything else. Didn't think she would be able to do this, and we are thrilled she is doing well. Thanks to all of you morons and 'ettes who prayed us through the last few years. tmi3rd was far more eloquent than I, but I agree with him-you guys and gals are the best.

The next one in line is 14 who but 10 minutes ago used the top of my head as an arm rest stating "Gosh, mom. You are so tiny!" She is towering over me at 5'8 to my 5'1.5. 67 Congratulations! The world can never have too many Moronettes.

One of the things I am most thankful for this year is my cheap-assed brand new Ainol Novo 7 Fire Android tablet. (the Chinese probably don't appreciate how "Ainol Fire" sounds to American ears when it is said out loud)

The Novo 7 Fire is a 7 inch Google certified tablet that is arguably as good spec-wise as the Google Nexus 7 and a fraction of the price. You can find many comparison and demo videos of it on YouTube.

I bought mine on a lark from an outfit called McBub in the heart of the ChiCom electronics manufacturing district for $159.99. I added an HDMI out cable and it was shipped by DHL and showed up on my doorstep a couple of weeks after I ordered it.

It works great - especially at playing hi-def video (720p & 1080p). I hooked it up with the HDMI cable to TVs in many hotels - it works great. (As many of you know, a  guy gets lonely on deployments and it's always nice having a high-res portable library of  hand  selected video content with you).

http://tinyurl.com/AinolNovo7Fire

Anyway, if you are in the market for a cheap Chinese tablet you should consider this one. And no, McBub and Ainol are not kicking anything back to me; I am just impressed with my latest toy and I want to share it with the Moron 'verse.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Stay turgid, morons.

71 Good Evening everyone. I survived Thanksgiving dinner mainly because everyone was distracted by my nephew. Who's far too young to talk, but I heard him say "Nnn-kl". My libtard siblings were mostly civil except for one point fantasizing about the lulz of releasing bears on the black friday sales campers and destroying the businesses that encourage them.

I bit my tongue and drank a lot, for my parents' sake.

72 She definitely has that "put me back!" look in that photo. I think we all had that look after the election this time. But, just as she ain't going back in, we are going onward.

For me, I'm thankful that my son is healthy, that my husband is holy (not perfect, but trying hard), my dad is still around to enjoy life, my far-flung family is within email distance but not close enough to drive me over the edge, and that we can still afford the occasional bottle of wine.

Who needed this big house anyway? Maybe the next place will be even better.

On the next visit, I will instruct tmi4th on the technique perfected by myself and my brother for when our sister's suitors came calling: it involves rifles, cans and an appropriate seasonal gourd or fruit arranged neatly on fenceposts. It is important to be seated on the front porch when the amorous young man arrives; make sure he has a view of you demonstrating the effect of a well-placed hollow point on a head-shaped object before he enters the house.

Girls are nuts.  I have 2 daughters and one son.  The oldest girl ran the gamut and drug us through hell and got it all out of her system by the early twenties.  The youngest girl was a late bloomer and waited until after HS to start driving us crazy with bad taste in boyfriends.  The boy is a balm on my jagged mom nerves.

Btw, he is tall, good-looking and single.  Just saying.

But not the trolls. They still suck.

In spite of all the kicks in the nuts that Life gives us, we can always laugh at gallows humor and dream dreams of alcoholic bacon boobs in the shade of a thousand foot statue of Ronald Reagan.

99 Checking in- Oh, she's got a name. It just doesn't have a nice snappy blog handle reduction like tmi4th does. As far as boyfriends go, I'm just stockpiling shotgun shellsÂ… every time a new beau comes home, I write his name on a shell and display it prominently on the mantle. Congrats tmi3rd.

I was 22 when my younger sister started to date around 16. I was home on leave when a suitor pulled up and blew the horn. I went outside to his car and dragged his scrawny ass out thru the window. On the way to the door I explained she will meet my father 1st, and my sister is not a "come running girl", as I rang the doorbell w/his head. Naturally my sister was horrified and my dad proud. He muttered that his car needed a starter as he apologized. I showed him how to change it the next day, and paid for the re-manned starter. Turned out to be a good kid.

Anyway they drift apart, whatevs, and meet up 6/7 years later. He came to ME to ask for my sisters hand, after asking my Dad! Now he has 2 daughters. He repeated the story to them today at dinner. "Uncle hutch is gonna be on the porch to greet boys when they come over...he's gonna be our back ground checker and judge of character.....they gotta get past HIM!".

Good luck. You'll raise 'em right, and they won't bring home trash!

Congratulations and so many happy wishes to you and your growing family, tmi3rd!  She doesn't look like Winston Churchill at all!  She's beautiful - whose sweet little chin did she inherit?

I don't comment here very often (but constantly lurk), so I don't want to get sappy, but I'm about to:

I'm sniffing back happy tears right now after reading your post.  She really is beautiful and such an outward symbol of hope after - hell, during - all the turmoil in which we've been mired.  Virtue is not dead!

Tomorrow I see an old (lib) friend who, knowing my husband and I are trying to conceive, told me last time I saw her that having children in an overpopulated world is the "ultimate expression of hubris" after drinking heavily.  I've avoided her since and was nervous about tomorrow.  Reading your post and all the morons' and moronettes' comments have put me in a much better place to let bygones be bygones.

So for tmi3rd and family, I'm thankful you're healthy and happy.  To the other morons, 'ettes, Ace and cob-loggers:  I'm thankful for all of you for giving me a place to go to not feel like the crazy one for once! ;-)

177 Oh well, no ONT, make my own I guess. The story about the turkey rampage earlier now has a companion piece about deer vs. numbskulls... Rose and Kellis ran to Rose's pick-up truck to try to get away from the wild buck. The deer then "poked" Rose in his ribs, so Rose jumped out of his truck into the back-bed. Rose says he left his driver-side door open and the deer climbed in and took his pack of cigarettes that were sitting in his center console. http://tinyurl.com/cty89e4 ...I'm sure PETA will be up in arms about Big Tobacco getting our wildlife hooked on nicotine to open up a vast new market. 180 65 My 12 year old daughter broke up with her "boyfriend" today. She told him that she was tired of him. I explained to her that boys are retards..... all of them, and that she is not allowed to date until I am dead. She has decided that she is done with boys until at least High School.

184 I just decided to open up some champagne I've been saving. Happy Thanksgiving! I bought it for Election Night, and, well, you know...it was just taking up space in my refrigerator. It's a 4-pack of Korbel, and each mini-bottle is one glass. I'll still have some for New Year's.

I might be paranoid here.... but I hope you dont post that same photo anywhere that you can be identified.  There are image comparison tools that can find that same image elsewhere on the web.  And if that image has any information indentifying you, then you can indetified.  Very unlikely scenario, and I`m probably being paranoid, but now that you've put that photo on the web, I dont think you should use it anywhere else.

CONGRATULATIONS !!

Our children are our gift to the future.

They are out testament to the belief in a future, and our love for ourselves and our lives.

They are a grace given to us that is beyond value, although I have two teenage sons that I sometimes (on different days) feel like strangling.

People that denigrate your right to bear children have something wrong with them.  Really. I've run into some of these people before, and besides lacking any good manners and having a shoddy upbringing, they are usually incredibly self-centered and generally worthless as human beings.

Tmi3rd, she's quite a beautiful little baby. Remember these days always, as they may temper you urge to strange your children  (usually when they become teenagers) on those particular days when they test your patience and sanity.

Nah. Jerry will just promote Rob Ryan to HC like he did with Garrett when he fired Philips.

Who would have thought Wade Phillips was the third best coach in Cowboys history.

202 Caroline is a beautiful name, my late mother was Caroline, and she wanted to name me that but my father objected and instead I'm Carol. You do not want to pick one of those trendy names like Nicole, there were 20 Nicoles in my 25 year old nieces graduating class. Stick to the classic names, not the trends. My father's mother was Amelia which is now a trendy name, you want something individual but not silly.

How funny! I'm a Caroline Nicole, and yes there are a lot of Nicoles out there.

If my dad hadn't been underway when I was born I'd have been Thelma Maude.

Yeah  for  babies!  As  for  names,  I  vote  for  Daphne,  because  there  aren't  enough   Daphnes  in  the  world.   Second  vote  goes  to  Jane,  because  it's  so  delightfully  anti-trendy  and  will  stand  out  among  all  the  Nevaehs,  Addisons,  and  Parkers.

210 Congratulations, and a very well written post. Puts things into perspective. Our fight for our way of life is far larger than ourselves, and the more I reflect on that, the more heretical the idea of letting it burn seems. Nuts! We're going to win this, and for one reason. Because the world they would build on the bones of ours is utterly unworthy of our children. It doesn't matter how impossible it becomes... We truly do need to be an army of Breitbarts from now on. No more retreats, no more graceful concessions, no more failures. We can do this, because we're Morons, we're American Morons, and American Morons don't measure the odds, we fight and win!

CarolT,

Yes, Nicole is the middle.  Actually, in my area, Caroline is gaining steam, too.  The Olivia population has seemed to explode over the past few years, too.  I don't think the Jennifers will ever go away.  A lot of older names like Emma, Emily, and Molly seem to be in right now, too.

213 tmi3rd, My late mother used to say a son is son until he gets himself a wife, a daughter is a daughter for the rest of your life. I can say that it is a fact. My wonderful Mother ended up with that fucking disease Alzheimer's and I was her legal guardian. I do not weigh 100 pounds, but I could scare the hell out of almost all the nurses and doctors if they made the mistake of pissing me off I Thank God that My Mother died while she still knew me and my older brother. I t would have been horrible to see her if she did not know us. Good Night and God Bless all morons and moronettes I think we need a better name than morons and moronettes1 Bye for now it's 12<35 am here.

216 Tmi3rd, she is beautiful!!! Congratulations!

I'm thankful for many things, which I try to take the time to remember every day after the election in which we re-elected the worst president ever.  Chief among the things I am thankful for is the Moron Horde!  Seriously, love you all!

217 Snotnosed Nuclear Sonic Punk, I'm glad you're not named Thelma, that is one lousy name to stick on a kid. My friend's name is Martha, but her mother said she looks like a Patricia. I'm not sure why she named her Martha. Her mother has passed away so we'll never know the answer. You're right about the Jennifers, that was a popular one in the late 1970's or early 1980's. I don't have kids and never wanted any, even when I was a little girl. I also like Wendy as and, that's not trendy.
