Glenn Beck: You Need to Know About Brett Kimberlin
— Ace

Interviewing victims Patterico and Aaron Worthing.

All props to Glenn Beck.

The Blaze is still front paging this.

Wish some other prominent talkers would take an interest.

3 I sometimes cringe at Beck, but this is yeoman's work and kudos to him for doing it. Now if Rush and Levin would cover it, then that would be the trifecta.

God bless Glenn.

7 Drudge needs to headline the Kimberlin story after Memorial Day.  And if Rush would get on this the story would be huge.

Beck is doing the work other talkers won't do.  Good thing he has security.

8 Beck has been on George "Spooky Dude" Soros' ass for a few years now.

11 #8, Yeah, and one of Beck's people met with one of Soros' top people and was threatened.

He gets blasted for crying on air (I can't remember the last time I heard him break down....not that there's even anything wrong with a man getting emotional) but he's got titanium balls when it comes to dealing with Barry and his minions.

What about trying a phone line "bombing" on his Open Line Friday show?  Attempt to get as many people as possible to spend the entire show calling in wanting to talk about Kimberlin?

15 I liked Beck's show.  He just didn't have enough new material for an hour-long show 5 days per week.

The had magnets with all the Logos and names: Van Jones, The Tides Foundation.  The Center for American Progress, Leon Panetta.  ACORN.  He tied them all together.

23 The past week or so, Glenn has been on fire revealing info about Barry that no one else will talk about.  He was the first to have Ed Klein on, but even then questioned Klein about past things he has written.  Klein cleared up doubts about his credibility.

I've gone days without listening to him, but suddenly in the last several days I found myself turning on the radio at 9:00 a.m. and not being disappointed at all.

Doing God's, and this country's, work.

Hope he, his family, and employees stay safe.

24 This is why I get pissed off at Beck's critics. The man. steps. up. Time and again the Beck Team is solid and acting the tip of the tip of the spear. He was Breitbart before Breitbart and on a bigger stage. It didn't win him many friends. It got him countless enemies. And yet, there he is fighting the good fight.

Maybe some of Team Moron might consider subscribing to GBTV to help him and his work since the GOP (or virtually all politicians), most of the media, and countless "leaders" are castrated sheep huddling on all those other hills they decided not to die on.

29 On the left, stuff typically spreads from its radicals and fringes, and then later gets diluted and polished and spread to the CNN/NPR types.  For instance look at the way global warming belief spread.  You can say alot against but you cant argue the effectiveness of it.  Something to be said if every controversial Fox News article had millions of conservative activists informed and ready to talk about it.  A little convoluted, but hope my point was clear.

54 Conservative kindergarten lol, when i got fed up with college leftist indoctrination, cnn, daily show, I went looking for people the left hated ended up at fox news and for some reason Hannity and jonah goldberg.  That was like 2004.  I am well well past kindergarten now, into the mark Steyn graduate class.  Big things require a process, and we all have to go through it.

Cant wait to teach my children about the founders and freedom.  Probably avoid much republican talk.  I never knew my Dad was republican when I was younger, I just new a bunch of principles my Dad taught, Guns were tools, when someone gives you something they own you, good intentions are no substitute for a good plans.  etc..  Enough good lessons that I was never going to feel naturally comfortable within the left.

60 I had to stop following a lot of conservatives on blogger yesterday b/c they were obsessing with this Kimberlin guy and still not sure why I should care, seems like a personal thing a criminal matter, not really a political thing of great interest to conservatives.   Rush and others have to pay for security people so if you have some guy harrassing as a pundit maybe you have to cough up some dough for security  if the police won't.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:35 PM (4BzOb)

61 I doubt Rush is going to focus on this. It's getting down in the weeds and it's not that relavant to national politics and defeating Obama.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:36 PM (4BzOb)

62

Seems like the blogger community is always having little wars, but I always thought they stayed in the cyber domain.

I know if this dude was targeting me I'd probably stop talking about him.  Seem high risk no reward to keep talking about some nut.  Not worth getting killed over but I am a known coward.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:38 PM (4BzOb)

63 The Swatting thing sounds like a rather mild practical joke in comparison to some of the ones I saw done at Clemson University by frat boys.  Those guys do some crazy stuff.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:41 PM (4BzOb)

64

I kind of wonder about a police department who falls this completely for a hoax call though.  That's the real story in all of this.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:42 PM (4BzOb)

65 Gee perhaps if you don't understand it but there seems to be alot of focus on it then perhaps you are the one that is in the wrong and is woefully uninformed about what is actually going on.

Posted by: buzzion at May 26, 2012 05:42 PM (GULKT)

66

buzz,

I dont care much about it one way or another.  Seems like a personal criminal matter involving a blogger that needs to be resolved by the police or maybe FBI and then the court system.   If the guy is truly nuts, a terrorist, a criminal thug, you won't shame him with beautiful written pieces on the internet.  I'm not the mayor of Realville but I am an admin assistant.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:45 PM (4BzOb)

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 09:45 PM (4BzOb)

Then perhaps you should take a reading comprehension course.  They aren't attempting to shame him with words.  They are writing to get this information out there in an effort to put an end to the harassment that this criminal is conducting.  As I said you are woefully uninformed.

Posted by: buzzion at May 26, 2012 05:49 PM (GULKT)

68 I never followed Breitbart that much but seems like he kind of got into this activist combative type of politics that won't amount to much in the end.  I think it's better to stick to the issues of interest to voters at national level, getting into little wars with liberal nuts isn't going to accomplish much except get some name recognition to some of the bloggers talking about it.  I could be wrong but I think that's what some of this is about.  I kind of tried to ascertain what this was all about yesterday but it appears to be a lot of people I never heard of accusing another guy I never heard of criminal activity, so there's nothing I or any other person not considered The Law can do to resolve it.  I won't be emailing congressmen over it, pretty sure that would go straight to the trash can like pretty much everything else they get.  I'm not saying you shouldn't do that, you do what you want if it makes you feel good.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:52 PM (4BzOb)

69

buzz,

Why won't the cops deal with it?  I see people making criminal charges on the internet, and I think the man they are accusing is entitled to his day in court on said charges.  I don't know if it's true or not, and it's not my job to decide this stuff.   Political pundits and their readers can't do anthing to resolve this kind of criminal activity if it's true.  I think it's a bit of a fantasy to think otherwise.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 05:55 PM (4BzOb)

70 In my mind, it is kind of irresponsible  to term this private criminal matter into a conservative vs liberal type of thing and to me it seems like they are basically goading this man  that they describe as a terrorist and a nutjob.   I wouldn't purposely try to provoke some guy I thought was a terorrist or criminal thug or nutjob.  I'd get the police involved and I'd talk about other stuff.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 06:06 PM (4BzOb)

71 A lot of the right has shit on Beck over the years, which I never understood. Beck has done great work and this is another example.

Posted by: Flatbush Joe at May 26, 2012 06:07 PM (ZPrif)

72 What's Beck done though, sounds like this guy is still roaming free.  If he was acting outside of the law already, it's not like Beck talking about him is going to make him become a model citizen.  I can see this really spiraling into some really horrible stuff if some of the conservatives don't stop adding fuel to the fire.   If some dude is really unhinged out there, you got to deal with him with that in mind.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 06:09 PM (4BzOb)

76 Hannity does a good job hammering Obama on J. Wright and Bill Ayers.  That's the kind of stuff we need out there b/c Obama going to be hard to beat if all these voters still like him personallly.  Just talking about the economy exclusively isn't the right way to do political propaganda.  You have to demonize Obama a little too and he's a pretty bad dude if he saw nothing wrong with J. Wrigh tor Bill Ayers.

Buzz

what's your problem dude.  I probably know a lot more about this than your average person does so I'm not uninformed at all in a general sense.  I think bloggers have a tendency to get down in the weeds about stuff that isn't ever going to go mainstream.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 06:25 PM (4BzOb)

80

Here are what I think I know about this story:

Some crazy liberal dude "Swatt'ed" some conservative blogger named Patterico (spell check),  according to the conservative blogger.

Robert Stacy McCain has accused the same liberal dude of calling his wife at work.

The crazy liberal dude is in court in Rockville MD dealling with some kind of charges that I wa stoo lazy to look at b/c I don't care.

I bet you 99.99999999% of Americans couldn't tell u what I just did and you say i'm uninformed.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 06:29 PM (4BzOb)

81 Coward Robert Ford: "...I think bloggers have a tendency to get down in the weeds about stuff that isn't ever going to go mainstream."

You think maybe that's the point of getting "down in the weeds"? Did you really read all those conservative blogs? The reportage won't go "mainstream" because the "mainstream" won't report. See how that works?

This isn't a trivial matter. Bother yourself to find out why. Your concern is duly noted.

Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at May 26, 2012 06:33 PM (eHIJJ)

82 I also know Robert Stacy McCain lives in Hagerstown MD and has claimed to have moved his family out of their house b/c of the phone call to his wife at work.   I lived in Frederick MD for two years, about 25 miles to the east over some big hills.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 06:34 PM (4BzOb)

83 Nah I think with this story the mainstream media not going to report on it b/c it's kind of like reporting on a missing person in Des Moines Iowa.   You can say it's newsworthy or should be newsworthy but I think people tend to ignore these kind of stories.  That's why the only way you can deal with this is by filing charges with The Law.   You can write some pretty beautiful blog posts about it and it won't put some liberal crazy in jail.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 06:39 PM (4BzOb)

90 You guys kind of come across as conspiratorial.  I'm not telling you what to think about the story.  I'm telling you what I think about it and you are free to mock me as you see fit.   I can handle it.   I'm a cancer survivor, mockery is nothing to me.

91 i've had 3 or 4 brief posts about it and you depict it as an obsession.  It's all these bloggers have been blogging and tweeting about for a week though, so if we going to do the obsession thing we got to consider that.

95 I think my opinions on this are valid.  This is a criminal matter that can only be resolved with The Law.    You can talk about it all damn day on some blog but that isn't going to put the man you call a terrorist behind bars is it?   To me if some dude is a terrorist and you got some evidence of that, you go to the police you don't mess around with writing about it on some blog and talk about writing letters to your congressman.  Maybe I'm too logical but if somebody is dicking around with me, I'm going to deal with it the right way.

You've done more than 3 or 4 brief posts about it.  I lost count at 12 on this thread.  This story just went viral on Thursday/Friday so it's hardly been a week.  It affects the bloggers personally and professionally.  For some reason, you're to thick to understand that.

No, I'm just pointing out that I have looked at this story a little bit but it doesn't really seem like a story that will get much national interest even if the national media picks it up.    It seems like a personal criminal matter that needs to be dealt with in that manner.  I' no throwing a party that these conservative bloggers were harrassed by some NUTJOB but blogging about it doesn't seem to accomplish much.  I'm probaby wrong and it does, who knows?  I've been wrong before, like in my Advanced Thermodynamics class.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 06:58 PM (4BzOb)

100 Look , I think it's wrong some commentators were essentially shouted down for not taking this story as seriously as the blog host want to.     You have basically b/c a variation of the liberal guy who you claim, probaby correctly, wants to censor or intimiidate conservative bloggers when you start shouting down people who don't see it as something of national interest.  Some things can seem very improtant to you and that's pefectly fine but other people aren't necessarily  going to get down into the weeds.   My impressin of bloggers is they are always having little cyber wars and sometimes they seem to think what they are fighting about is apparent and very improtant to your casuael reader.  I think there is a little bit of arrogance in that, kind of what Rush talks about how the dying old media sees customers as always being wrong.   I'm just looking at this story in terms of "customer demand" and i don't think there is much.  People reading this blog  probably more interested in issue related kind of stuff, Obama related kind of stuff.  I will let my critics have the last word.

103 Lot of people are unemployed right now, we got serious issues with debt and other things, so I think making this your big story is kind of evidence you are out of touch as a blogger.  People got bigger fish to fry, it sucks that the conservative bloggers were harrassed but nothing we can do about it.

And the tactic of lawfare is being used to mute free speech and the reportage of facts.

I thought banning Hedgehog for the stated reason provided was kind of gay.  I don't care about Hedgehog one way or another.  It was also kind of gay he not only banned the hog, but had an entire blogpost dedicated to it.  It seemed kind of diva-ish to me.  I thought it was kind of "ironic" that he was banning the hog simply b/c the hog didn't care much about this "very serious" issue, but one of the things that ostensibly make it a "very serious" issue  is the  free speech and intimidation aspect of it.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 10:37 PM (4BzOb)

144 I guess one reason why police may not to want to investigage swatting hoaxes too much is they feel pretty foolish about being played and don't want too much publicity about it getting out to the people they "serve and protect".  Just a theory can't prove don't want to.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 26, 2012 10:39 PM (4BzOb)

145

@pawn,

It does seems like police need to come up with some way to determine if  somebody is hoaxing them.  There's probably a few questions they could ask that would make the hoaxing go squirrely and hang up.  Could just try, if this is a hoax, you will go to jail for long time and say you can trace their call if if it's not true.  Put some doubt into the situatiion b/c the hoaxer is taking a big risk he won't be caught.

What have I say that is trolling? All I have said is that I tried to understand what the relevance of this story is to Brett Kimberlin and I could not even learn if he was still in jail or not, and his connection to modern politics.  I was able to ascertaiin from the conservative bloggers they think he is targeting them with the Swatting hoaxes,  I didn't see the proof of that, and I never saw the reason why they were even talking about him at all.  Maybe this is a great story, but I don't think the bloggers have done a great job making it accessible to the casual reader who does not necessarily want to get down into the weeds.     I think the casual reader is going to scoff at this notion that some ex terrorist really cared that much about Robert Stacy McCain talking about him, nothing against RSM but I don't think he has that big of an audience.  To me it seems a little dubious b/c the bloggers just aren't big names, but if the guy is nuts maybe he doesn't look at this aspect of it.

Stacy,

I think I'm raising legit issues.  I think I'm a smart guy, and I don't remember having a harder time understanding the basics of some story as a I have had with this Kimberlin story, so I think the bloggers talking about have done poor job is outlining it in a way that makes it accesible to someone who does not want to get down into the weeds on it.  I think they are probably going to need Rush to talk about it b/c he knows how to talk about this kind of convuluted story in a way that will hold our interest.  I hear this blogger this is an important story but to me they aren't communicating the details in a way that isnt tedious for your casual reader.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 27, 2012 12:27 PM (4BzOb)

151

To me, it seems important to the story of Kimberiln that he was released from jail in 2000 but I got the impression he was still in jail so I was real confused how he was behind all tthis swatting stuff.   And if he was in jail, why were they were talking about him at all.   I think i speak for a lot of people out there that the communication of this story has kind of sucked.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 27, 2012 12:33 PM (4BzOb)

152 I wouldn't be suprised if RSM was just making up the story that somebody called his wiffe at work.  You guys may remember Erick Erickson of RedState making up a story that he had had proof that this loser blogger guy in South Carolina was making up the story he had an affair with Nikki Haley.  It turns out Erick Erickson was just making this up and he never had any proof, and it looks like Erickson was just trying to get some attention for himself.   How do we know RSM is making this all up, how do we know somebody really called his wife at work, and how do we know that if somebody did call RSM wife at work that it wasn't just a wrong number or some other explaination that has nothing to do with Kimberlin?   I think I'm like a good judge, I don't take everything that is told to me at face value.  Bloggers are in the attention getting business too, so you have to take whatever they say with a grain of salt.  I get the impression they are hyping up this story a little bit and some of the things they are asserting they may just suspect to be true but really have no proof it's true.  that's the impression that I get, I don't think it makes me a bad person.

It was prison, not jail, and 2001, not 2000.

Had he been given the maximum penalty for the crimes he was convicted of, to say nothing of those he got away with, he would be in prison until 2282.

And no, your point is not relevant in any way I can tell, and the misunderstanding appears to be yours alone.  There are over 180 blogs discussing Kimberlin and over 45,000 tweets.  More than ten times that number of hits on Google.  If you do not know, search google to learn.

" I wouldn't be suprised if RSM was just making up the story that somebody called his wiffe at work."

I know for certain that many of these attacks on family are absolutely occurring.  If you make allegations like that, you need evidence.  Like Patterico.  Patterico made some damn serious allegations.  And then he backed them up with hard proof.  Do you have any evidence to justify the accusation you just made?  Nope.  And that means you are apparently smearing Kimberlin's victims.  You are further victimizing them.

"I think I'm like a good judge, I don't take everything that is told to me at face value."

Actually, it sure seems like you have refused to review any evidence, due either to bad faith or laziness, and then announced that this means you are unconvinced and thus the victims are liars.

Posted by: Dustin at May 27, 2012 01:01 PM (z36s0)

154 "I never sawthe reason why they were even talking about him at all."

Because he's a convicted bomber who has created many smears and raked in enormous donations from political activists.  Because he's a thug who engaged in lawfare against a nearly penniless man who told the truth (Seth Allen).

Posted by: Dustin at May 27, 2012 01:02 PM (z36s0)

155 "when you are the victim of a practical joke like swatting,"

You misspelled 'attempted murder.'  At best depraved indifference to human life.

Why on earth should the victim of such an attack feel foolish?  The swatter was the coward.  The victim was willing to stand tall and blog his opinions.  The swatter was so unable to answer the facts that he resorted to cowardly attacks on the blogger's children.

But I'm used to Neal Rauhauser trolling like you are.  He brags a lot about it.  He likes to stir people up.  He thinks nastiness is somehow clever.  He is a small man could can't even look his victims in the eye.  He's an internet tough guy and a real life coward.

156 "could" should be "who"

Odd typo.

Posted by: Dustin at May 27, 2012 01:06 PM (z36s0)

157

I never said they were liars or not liars, I just pointed that bloggers do sometimes tell tall tales and I gave a pretty recent example with Eric Erickson of RedState.   I may be the first person you've seen that has asked that RSM prove somebody call his wife at work and then prove that it's connected Kimberin.  I think that's a perfectly thing to ask.   Maybe this blogger is just real paranoid about stuff, there's not any big barrier to entry to blogging so there are probably some people who blog who really aren't the best people to be reporting stuff, not that working for the networks necessarily makes a news reporter more credible, see Dan Rather.

You can make the charge that I'm lazy but I'll point out again that I probalby kow about this story than 99.99999999999999999% of Americans and I have tried to understand and it took me awhile to determine Kimberlin was in jail, and that was my big question from the start.  I actually had to go away from the bloogers involved in this story to the AMerican Thinker to find somebody who could tell me that basic fact.  IF the bloggers were conveying this information, I never saw it.

It is on the sender of a  message to convey the information in both an interesting way and a way that is simple enough for a casual reader to care about.  I dont think you can the argue the bloggers are doing this.  I'm giving them feedback on that.  They can complain about this story getting no play in the media, but I think it's legit to think that some of the reason for that is they aren't breaking this down in a way that casual readers want to dive into all these details.

Posted by: Coward Robert Ford at May 27, 2012 01:10 PM (4BzOb)

158

Oops. I'm lying down on my bed and I have a lot of typos as a result.

I meant to say it took me awhile to learn this Kimmerlin NUTJOB is NOT in jail and was released in 2000 or 2001.  That was my first question after being exposed to this story, and I couldn't get an answer, it was like some Edgaer Allen Poe nightmare, i was searching all over for an answer to this basic question and I couldn't find out, even Kimberlin's wikipedia post (which appears to be have been taken down for some bizarre reason didn't seem to cover this kind of basic fact)

To me, jail and prison are the same thing and if there is some distinction, few people know it or care.

We have to be able to nail down the veracity of all these claims that are out there if we want to get to the bottom of this

If you're who I think you are, then you didn't really do Weiner or Kimberlin any favors with your clever tactic of being ghastly until finally a lot of people notice.

I doubt kimberlin would have known enough about RSM to make that reference to his Tina Korbe snide comments.

My point is that RSM probIably has a lot of people who hate him, so IF some dude called his wife, it's NOT necessarily relatd to his posts on the NUTJOB kimmerlin
