Goodbye to the Liberal Media
— Ace

Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel pen a scorching column about the coming death of the establishment media.

. The point is that many in the press are every bit as corrupt as conservatives have accused them of being. The good news is, it’s almost over. The broadcast networks, the big daily newspapers, the newsweeklies — they’re done. It’s only a matter of time, and everyone who works there knows it. That may be why so many of them seem tapped out, lazy and enervated, unwilling to stray from the same tired story lines. Some days they seem engaged only on Twitter, where they spend hours preening for one another and sneering at outsiders.

By the next presidential cycle most of these people will be gone. TheyÂ’ll have moved on to academia or think tanks or Democratic senate campaigns, or wherever aging hacks go when their union contracts finally, inevitably get voided. TheyÂ’ll be replaced by a vibrant digital marketplace filled with hungry young reporters who care more about breaking stories than maintaining access to some politician or regulator.

All of this was probably inevitable, but it came faster than expected. Through their dishonesty the legacy media hastened their own end. Their moral authority has evaporated. So has their business model. Wave them goodbye on the way out.

I mentioned the fact that it cannot be healthy that I have spent the 7 weeks since September 11 consumed with rage towards the cocksuckers who left those men for dead in order to score political points and the little Goebbels that have protected them with every trick at their disposal. He agreed with me.

8 If Romney wins, yes.

If Obama wins, no matter by how much, the lib media will know that they can carry even Obama's busted ass over the finish line.  A bronze statue of Nate Silver will be erected in front of the New York Times building, and MSNBC will immediately fire Joe Scarborough and purge their network of anyone who's voted Republican in the past three elections.

15 Pres Romney could facilitate this by the way the WH allocates access. Why have all these media slots occupied by the MSM when they are essentially one uniformly corrupt organization. Why not revoke CBS's press pass and give it to PJ Media, Drudge, (AoSHQ?)? Start revoking access to top officials, briefings, interviews etc. and these organizations will rot and die even quicker. But Republicans/cons/libertarians still whinged about how the MSM wouldn't own up about it. Again, they weren't hiding anything from us, they were out there, loud and proud for all the world to see.

So now can we stop with the "If a Republican had done/said X what Y Democrat just did...blah blah blah"?

49 It's not going to be anything sudden. It's just going to be that blogs and websites will continue to become more important, and news shows and newspapers will become even less important. Eventually, the newspapers will have moved to the web, and the networks will decide that they can make more money showing reruns of How I Met Your Mother than news shows will get them.

These guys are weasels, brown-nosing, c...k-sucking lib beta males and if you looked at them cross-eyed, they'd wet their pants. What has happened to real men?

Personally, I'd pay really good money to see someone like Steve Hayes of Fox just blast one in the face with a perfectly placed punch.  (I have no knowledge of Steve Hayes having any propensity to engage in a fist fight, but I'd love that.)

These were the kids who were viewed as weenies in elementary school, the kids who were tattle tales and they "grew up" into progs who went to journalism school or, more likely, got a degree in "communications" or "media."

As for the females like that airhead on CNN, Soledad O'Brien.  An IQ test would reveal no higher than 110, very bad for someone with that mic in front of her.

109 I would like to see a scenario like this: in 5-10 years the network TV channels stop broadcasting regular show schedules and instead produce shows that are put on demand streaming and shown through your TV when you desire. Advertising has died to the point of a brief banner and product placements in the shows, and you watch only what you want, when you want.
I think that's a very real possibility, going from channels to just publishing houses for shows.

What I've never understood about her is why she works so hard to be physically unattractive.  She *works* at it.

158 When cable is forced to unbundle that will go a long way.  Nobody will pay for CNN, many will pay for Fox, and a few deranged lunatics will pay for MSNBC.

For the most part, I think in the future people will be able to find and get what they want content-wise.  Personally, I canceled cable and just stream TV shows and movies, and get news off the web.

Liberalism needs free mass media in which to marinate people to create majority opinion. It's a serious problem if people go off into their own little niches of interest.

I'd love to buy a few channels that interest me - like food network, and history channel - but it's not available.  Yet. I'm sure those networks will in the near future offer through roku boxes or whatnot and cut out the cable company. Also, I can't remember the last time I saw a TV commercial.  The less ads younger people see the better for the culture, imo. Ads tend to make weak-minded people weaker minded and more pliable for progressive ends.

162 There's a reason the MSM caters to and promotes a very narrow strip of center-left opinion -- the entire industry was created in order to appeal to  corporate advertisers.

And, in order to do that, they consciously chose to foster a sense of credibility by being the mouthpieces for Official Sources.

Naturally, official sources liked the idea, and something of a partnership was created, more or less overnight, between government and "news," shortly after the Civil War.  It wasn't the printing press, but rather the telegraph that made it possible.

It's in the interest of the government class to continually expand the power of the government class.  The MSM has been there every step of the way, for over 100 years, facilitating the expansion of government power.  They created "schools" for journalism, which serve no functional purpose whatsoever, in an area for which no schools are needed, merely in order to function as a gatekeeper of approved opinion and methods -- to indoctrinate the next generation in the System of relying exclusively on Official Sources.

The Internet was really a curve ball for them.  It dropped the price of publication down to zero.  The cost used to be enormously high -- there used to only be 3 TV stations, and running a TV station is expensive.  None of them was going to risk having even the slightest deviation from the Approved Viewpoint, lest the corporate advertisers be frightened off.

Expecting the MSM to offer any real challenge to the premises of the Center-Left corporate state is a total non-starter.  It's like expecting the advertising agency for Bank of America to pump out a campaign of stories challenging the idea of banking -- that's not what they were hired to do.

They may not be AS obscenely profitable as they were 20 years ago, but TV networks make money. Print newspapers may be dying, but they're just becoming very well-capitalized, slick online news sources. And while we congratulate ourselves about the rise of conservative news outlets online -- who are the big guys? If you look at the news sites preset on your web browser, it's fucking CNN, fucking NPR, the fucking BBC . . . with the Wall Street Journal tossed in to provide "balance." In short, the same usual suspects. The mainstream media aren't going away without a fight, and I think we have to prepare to give them one.

172 I sat in on a presentation by two journalists who are now in academia at a Midwest university.  They were pitching a new service they propose to allow newspapers and other printed media to connect with readers by smartly consolidating and aggregating stories based on usage.

Their mockups showed three stories, one from Grist (an environmental news source, one from Mother Jones (leftist) and one from Time.  They said that newspaper owners were seeing a decline in business and they wanted to get their content into a form that was going to be read by people with smartphones and tablets.  I remarked to another attendee that these media owners would rather die than provide content that I would want to read.  In fact, no amount of reformatting or repackaging was going to induce me to read any of these left's bilge.

So, up close and in person I saw this mindset, and how absolutely clueless they were as to why their business was on its deathbed.   As the old saying goes, if your enemy is in the process of committing suicide, don't get in his way.  And these folks are my enemies for they want to enslave me via perpetual debt.  In other political contexts, they would be cheering when I was being arrested for Islamo- or homo- phobic public statements, or for resisting government's takeover of healthcare.

(I used to  think, well we haven't gone that far, but consider the reaction of mainstream journalism to the deaths in Mexico from a program directed out of the Justice Department to run guns into Mexican drug gangs for the sole purpose of being able to nullify one of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights.  Journalism has blood on its hands for its silence and running cover for the Administration.)
