— Open Blogger Larry Correia, over at Monster Hunter Nation has written an excellent framework of the current gun control debate. Correia, a true firearms expert, takes a systematic, point by point approach in exploring all of the arguments being made by gun control advocates and refutes them with facts and common sense. It is a must read for anyone planning on discussing this issue intelligently with friends and relatives over Christmas dinner. So now that there is a new tragedy the president wants to have a “national conversation on guns”. Here’s the thing. Until this national conversation is willing to entertain allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons, then it isn’t a conversation at all, it is a lecture.
The single best way to respond to a mass shooter is with an immediate, violent response. The vast majority of the time, as soon as a mass shooter meets serious resistance, it bursts their fantasy world bubble. Then they kill themselves or surrender. This has happened over and over again.

No attempt at literary fiction. But a good combination of gun porn w/ B-Movie Horror hijinks and a liberal dash of witty oneliners on top.
Not Dresden Files good, but definitely worth reading if you're a fan of urban fantasy or horror.

Now, how do we normally protect peoples' lives in this nation? How do we protect the President's life? With trained people carrying firearms. How do we protect politicians' lives? With trained people carrying firearms. How do celebrities protect their lives? With trained people carrying firearms. How do everyday citizens protect their lives? By using firearms.
So how should we protect the lives of our children? With trained people carrying firearms. Whether it be teachers, volunteers, or paid professionals, the answer seems clear.
It's not that hard of a problem to solve, really.

I don't think the "conversation" is going to turn out the way the anti-gun people think it's going to. Case in point: my brother went to a local gun shop to buy some ammo for one of his boom sticks. Parking lot full and the shop was sold out of AR-15 rifles and magazine; also sold out of .223 ammo. Other guns were flying off the shelves. These people aren't buying this stuff to just spend money before Christmas.

The NRA walked right into a trap on that one.
They just killed their argument with anyone under the age of 30. Already Video Gamers are... I can't avoid the pun....up in arms.
And what are people like me (who get ammo and video games for Christmas) supposed to do? It's like I'm being forced to choose sides. Thanks NRA!
But perhaps more importantly, they just handed the liberal PC crowd everything they possibly could have wanted. Expect chorases of "Even the NRA thinks we need to ban violent video games" to start becoming the new norm.

The amendment from Sens. Now, the talk around the table had been civil and we were going to keep it that way. I pointed out the number of laws already on the books, the ones that the shooter violated and how every time there is a massacre, more laws are demanded. I even pointed out how as a former Marine, I know how to put holes in people using the kind of ammunition that folks can buy over the shelves.

Yet I would bet my bottom dollar that those liberals STILL think they "won", since their standard of argumentation appears to be the syllogism:

Therefore, the conservative argument is wrong and mine is right

But here's the problem.. it will likely work. All over America, mothers who are a helluva more concerned about the safety of their kids are thing "something" MUST be done.
Those mothers don't give a shit that the founders guaranteed your right to armor piercing bullets. And they don't really give a shit that you think it is your Constitutional right to have high-capacity magazines when then is no apparent real-world need.
So, yeah.. that campaign will work. But the restrictions will be symbolic, because we know magazine sizes are not what is killing people.

After arguing with someone on this issue, I spent several hours doing research on why America's murder rate is higher. The truth is, it isn't.
England, Germany, Japan, etc. all have less than 1 to about 1.5 murders per 100,000. The US has about 4. That's not much of a difference when you consider that Mexico, Brazil, and many of the South American countries have 15-20. Our demographics are closer to Brazil, while our murder rate is much, much closer to England. If you look at a murder rate map of the Americas and stop comparing us to monocultures like Japan and Sweden, we look remarkably safe.

The teacher could have one of those quick open combination bedside safes in a drawer. It would be too slow for the teacher in the room with the shooter, but not too slow for the teacher that hears gunfire starting elsewhere in the school. It would still keep the guns safe from snatchy teenagers, or whatever.

Adam Lanza finally stopped when he was confronted by an armed cop, and he shot himself. See how that works?
Mentally ill and criminally insane moonbats have more rights than sane people who make the logical choice to do what is necessary to protect their homes, family, and lives. I own a firearm and I guaran-goddamn-tee you that if anyone breaks into my home, they will leave in a body bag.
Ironically, some have called for arming school personnel in response to what happened in Connecticut. Gee, wonÂ’t that involve guns?
Bottom line: Armed criminals and loonies deliberately choose soft, unarmed targets. They couldnÂ’t give one shit less about the idea of restrictive gun laws. Every law-abiding American citizen has the right to defend themselves from low life thugs and deranged psychos like Lanza, in spite of the LeftÂ’s fatuous politicizing.
"pass a law outlawing the manufacture or sale of guns and ammo"? Yeah, you're a real fucking genius, Larry. The current regime in DC would love to control guns the way it does healthcare. I prefer to have the option of getting the ammo and guns I need, if only to protect myself from our own government. But, you go right on ahead and kowtow to the whims of an out of control Fed. Just don't expect the rest of us to follow suit.
"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government"--- George Washington

Both the guys went out and bout an AR-15 thinking as everyone else does that their days are numbered and were bitching about how it sucks that guns are being blamed, etc. So I tweeted both of them and said "I told you so" referring to Obama. They both write back something like "we knew about Obama and his gun views and if it means we have to give up some gun rights in order to make the country better overall so be it".

The thing that was most scary? The "media" actually fucked up and and played the FULL clip of that scene once....ONCE, and was never shown again.
The scene I'm talking about was the long blond hair dude they pulled from the tanker truck. What they showed once, and never showed again, was after the dude was beat up and was kind of laying under the floor board of the cab, some fucking scumbag walked up with a shotgun, pumped it, held it out to almost point blank range with one hand and fired, pumped it again, and fired again, then did some dance like he was in the mother fucking end zone of a football field after scoring a touchdown.
I had a room full of people at the house, and they ALL saw that. Half wanted to go get guns and head for the nearest city where shit was going on. The media knowing damn well that that clip was all that was needed to start a fucking race war never showed that clip again. It was buried never to be seen again. I saw it, the whole house saw it. That scene was so brutal it completely changed my attitude about a lot of things.

But, playing the devil's advocate for a minute, let me summarize what a lot of people in the middle feel.
Gun owners and morons and other Constitutionalists look at this ideologically. One tiny restriction is a "slippery slope" to eventual gun confiscation.
Many people in middle America do not believe restricting magazine sizes, etc. is a big deal at all. They also feel certain types of military-style rifles are best left in the hands of the military. They also feel we need better registration and tracking - they have no idea the national tracking system is already in place.
Bottom line - we will get some new gun laws, ineffective and symbolic as they may be.

Good luck on you and your team surviving more than a few seconds... Keep in mind, many of the current video games are reasonably realistic. In other words, banning law abiding citizens from owning assault weapons isn't going to stop the possession and use of these weapons illegally -- it's just going to put honest folks at higher risk of being unable to protect themselves.
As Israel has discovered thru experience, the front line of protection against thugs and nutjobs brandishing assault weapons is NEVER going to be police or regulations. The front line of defence against thugs and nutjobs is (or should be) honest law abiding citizens who are willing to carry a weapon to protect themselves as well as others in their vicinity -- a well regulated militia, if you will.
Seems there is something I once read about a well regulated militia having the right to bear arms... Now where was that?

in other words, being anti-gun makes losers feel like heroes
in truth, they are very unhappy self-loathing people who can only feel good about their miserable selves when they demonize others
Also, they don't recognize that there are, unlike them, responsible people in the world who can safely operate a weapon and use it for good purposes.
Theirs is a psychological projection that makes everyone else as big a failures as they are.

They've already decided, the science is settled.
Has ANYONE, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE heard a progressive liberal take back some proven inane and/or stupid progressive ideal after having proclaimed it the only solution?
That's what I thought.

Do not forget to send a message to the F**KNEN ACLU for their part in labelling the punk kid shooter as a protected class person/not whack job/uninstitutionalized.
I am pissed.

I was reading an article a few days after the shooting and it happened to mention that liberals' favorite form of entertainment is anything making fun of conservatives, while conservatives' favorite form of entertainment is football.
They really have nothing animating them but their hatred of those who disagree with them. Which is why whenever a country gets taken over by collectivists, after they purge their first set of enemies, they turn on each other by creating a new set of enemies amongst themselves.

We should have gun control signs like we do for highway commute times. At each school here in CA, we should be kept current.
"Gun-Free Zone. Nearest help is only 25 MIN away"
Heh. One of the hospitals here has a billboard with the current waiting time to be seen in their Emergency Rooms. We could repurpose that, too.
Larry's article cites many statistics that we never, ever hear about concerning responsible action taken by gun owners to minimize a massacre. I keep waiting for somebody on our side to step up and start hammering these points on the clueless Leftards.
It never seems to happen...

yeah but that isn't the scene I'm talking about. This wasn't that Reginald dude that I saw. It was a different dude, and the dude who did the dance was a fat mofo, and there were others around him. I think the media did a bait and switch thing. I think they purposely pushed reginald out in front for no other reason to say oh he lived, see, not so bad. My guess is they thought people would confuse the 2 different situations and "forget" the other scene they saw.
No way was the dude I saw Reginald Denny. The dude I saw got shot at point blank range twice with a shotgun by a fat motherfucker.

I did read it. I remember seeing the koreans blasting away from roof tops. I was cheering them.
My father had a store in Newark NJ in the 1960's, just in time for the riots. yeah I have a little experience with this shit. I learned early, trust me.

The PD and FD were ordered to pull back during the Rodney King riots. 50 or so people were murdered in the street as a result.
That was REAL. It happened. "The system" abandoned the public to save its own ass.
Here's a clue: decent blacks are going to need some protection from the mobs too.
Posted by: @PurpAv at December 22, 2012 08:43 AM (xpgUt)
Wait a minute.
Is everyone forgetting what Drew taught us about nobody needing assault weapons for hunting or target shooting?

I don't even look at it as a black/ white thing. Its a mob thing. The rodney king thing was a mob created by race hustlers and the fucking media. The OWS thing was a mob created by obama and his class warfare bulshit. Its a leftist thing. Every god damn mob action in recent memory has the stench of a scumbag leftist on it.
