OK, having made a jackass out of myself posting a premature death notice in the last thread, here's a great video I pulled from the sidebar a few days ago. It deserves to be distributed far and wide. It succinctly points out everything wrong with socialized medicine in general and Obamacare in particular in a little over 7 minutes.

29 CA, there is no mass of people who as the result of OCare will suddenly have "access to HC". Same myth as Sandra Fluke's "access to BC". These people will access the HC system most likely as they have before, which is to say as needed. Real question is how many doctors will hang around for it. Drudge had a poll headline Monday which said 85% of doctors considered retiring as result of OCare passage. Now THAT is a change in supply and demand.

Why doesn't anyone compare health procedure costs against cosmetic & vision correction procedures costs?

Cosmetic & eye procedures prices have come down the last few years, while heath procedures has exploded.

39 In regards to 85% of doctors retiring. If we are left with the wrong 15% then we are so screwed. OTOH, I feel sure that those Gods in White Coats could be coaxed out of retirement for a 3 day work week and $1500 an office visit, $2000--if they have to write a prescription, $2500--if they have to endure you turning and coughing. 45 It need not be the entirety of the 85 percent. If only say 10 percent of those who considered go forward, that's a reduction in the care supply pool of 8.5 percent. That is huge. BTW, my own doctor is planning on it pending the election outcome.
