It's pretty disturbing to review how a cult of personality was able to succeed in THIS country.
Around 4:00 is the money quote. Normally, if a politician were to babble nonsense about light shining in through a window, and then your having an "epiphany" to vote for them, they'd be laughed off the stage and their campaign would be done. Clearly, something very, very wrong was going on, and there still seem to be residual effects today.
As to the last quote, that really takes away from it; it's completely insane/idiotic. I remember someone pulling that out on me before, and I countered, "Yeah, you could end up believing all kinds of crazy things without religion. Like people rising from the dead, staffs turning into snakes, seas parting upon command, water turning into wine..." Somehow everybody suddenly shifted to talking about Lazarus.
Anyway, calling "blasphemy" seems to miss the point about you scary-crazy the cult of personality phenomenon is. It just seems to be complaining about who the FOCUS of the crazy is.
