— Ace I have heard from numerous Media bien pensants that if one's intentions are good, and in the public interest, you get to ignore the law.
n attorney for Hobby Lobby Stores said Thursday that the arts and crafts chain plans to defy a federal mandate requiring it to offer employees health coverage that includes access to the morning-after pill, despite risking potential fines of up to $1.3 million per day.Hobby Lobby and religious book-seller Mardel Inc., which are owned by the same conservative Christian family, are suing to block part of the federal health care law that requires employee health-care plans to provide insurance coverage for the morning-after pill and similar emergency contraception pills.
The companies claim the mandate violates the religious beliefs of their owners. They say the morning-after pill is tantamount to abortion because it can prevent a fertilized egg from becoming implanted in a woman's womb.

They're very similar to a Joann Fabric or Michael's. A variety of crafting materials for everything from jewelry making to baking to sewing to fine arts.
I've been needing some more embroidery floss...
Posted by: MWR, Proud Tea(rrorist) Party Hobbit [/i][/u][/b] at December 28, 2012 08:40 AM (4df7R)
I said, it's the juxtaposition that's so jarring.
Who ta hell even connected segz-ual licentiousness with an arts and craft store?
Frankly, Michael's was a lousy place to pick up chicks. I almost scored a coupla times at JoAnn Fabrics, but dude, fish in a barrel. Like being th only guy at a baby shower. It just happens.
My buddy, who spare-time apprenticed with an upholsterer so he could make his own race-car seats? And learned to run a HD sewing machine, called a serger? More ass than the afore-mentioned race-car seat. He, like, serged. Zig-zag.
Will someone posit the notion that craft artisans, with all their coat-hanger-bending mad skillsetz, are so good at backroom abortions, that the prevention point is "mute"? Because, the civility rules being what they are, that's gotta happen.

They have a furniture and home-deco section...they sell framed art prints and such.
They also sell candles and potpouri, vases, etc.

Not exactly the sort of society that an idealistic conservative wishes to belong to, nor perhaps the most prosperous, generous, just, or equal society.
So...for the next four years does an idealistic conservative put principles on hold and play the game to win, with the society we have? Or is it better to retain one's principles, and tilt against a few windmills? Or maybe a bit of both?

The Hobby Lobby is obviously interested in high capacity hobbies. I'm afraid this does not qualify for an exemption to Obamacare, my plan that I intend for the health and welfare of all Americans, especially the sexually promiscuous, much like my own dear departed mother.
The Hobby Lobby will not be able to stop the march of progress and will be forced to provide abortifacients to their employees. Because that's freedom and I say so.

The wise Latina with empathy said they can't get an injunction because they haven't really been damaged yet.
Just to add to my earlier thought, I'd argue to the wise Latina that the damage she is requiring is the damage done to my soul, the souls of my employees, and the souls of the unborn children affected by this ruling. Am I supposed to come back from the dead some day in the future with the flesh wounds to prove I'd spent some time in Hell before I can get a redress of my grievances?

The only way that would work, is if they are single and didn't have any female family members that they were claiming as dependents on their insurance coverage.

The problem is that the High Court ruled it's a tax, and as a tax it is enforceable by the IRS. You know: that organization that has more lawyers and federal agents than they have tax processors? Their methodology is to use their statutory authority of asset seizure and forfeiture to grab everything first, then apply fines and penalties while the case winds its way through the U.S. Tax Court, a special court set up just for hearing tax cases. No one ever wins before the Tax Court. Hobby Lobby will be out of business before you know it.

There have been companies on FoxBusiness, saying that that is exactly what they're going to do.
They ran the numbers and figured that it would be cheaper to just pay the fines.
But the thing is...Hobby Lobby is such a nice company, they figure that it is their duty to provide good health coverage for their employees.
So it would be a gutwrenching thing for them to stop that.

We did one at work as a team building exercise. I was accused by some of cheating, since the rules didn't state where the starter mechanism had to align with the car (front, middle or back). So I put the weight to the front and a slot in the middle of the car that engaged with the starting mechanism. That way the car would start ahead of all the others by a couple of inches. The idea worked fine on the slope but when it hit the flat and I hadn't built as much momentum for that section. I didn't win but at least I stirred up some fun.
