Horrible News for Romney out of Nevada
— CAC

Obama is winning 81% of black voters and 54% of hispanic voters there.
Horrible news.

John Kerry did better in 2004, snagging 86%/60% respectively, which is obviously bad news for Mitt Romney. The President has seen his share of the respective blocs decline 13 and 24 points respectively, again reflecting horribly on Mitt Romney who is now only tripling and doubling McCain's share of these same blocks. Terrible.

Romney outperforming Bush amongst minority voters (when Bush won with less in 04) is a bad thing, as our resident troll I am sure will be happy to explain.

Obama's 12 point win in 2008 here is down to a scant 1 point edge in this latest Survey USA poll, which again our troll will be delighted to tell us is terrible, horrible, no-good news for Mitt Romney.

Because you win by losing chunks of your core supporters and bleeding independents, of course.

No good, rotten numbers for Romney, indeed.

CAC..what was the sample?  I am sure Dem Skewed what 5-10 points?  This is very bad for Obama...if he is losing 19 percent of the African American and 46 percent of the Hispanic voters....he is losing.  The skewed sample may show him 1 point up in Nevada but I am sure come closer to election Survey USA will clean that up and I would imagine Romney is really up 2-4 points in Nevada right now.

Suffolk Pollster told O'Reilly last night that his firm...Suffolk(very well known and highly respected polling firm) is PULLING OUT OF FLORIDA< VIRGINIA AND NORTH CAROLINA because MITT WILL WIN THESE THREE!!  Pretty amazing stuff....They are reallocating resources to other states....Pretty cool ladies and gentlemen!  Do not tell Greg that!

78 Some Funny Observations:

Exit polling showed a tie in party affiliation turnout in 2010.  So, how do you win 63 seats with a tie amongst your base?  You don't.  Exit polling always has and always will favor Democrats by at least 3 points.

In reality, 2010 was probably 37/34 Rep/Dem.

So, given that, why does it seem like absolute anathema for ANY pollsters to assume a + anything Rep turnout in 2012?  Our enthusiasm leads by almost 20 points, Rasmussen himself says party affiliation is now Rep +4, and yet, even Rasmussen himself is using a Dem +3 model?

I propose that ALL of the pollsters are wrong and Romney is actually 5 to 7 points ahead right now.  It will only get worse for Obama as the Libya scandal deepens and Obama is destroyed in 2 more debates.

The ONLY option for Obama going forward is to "get angry in the debates".  Well, that hurts him with women, doesn't it?  Women don't like angry men.  They like strong men and Obama is not a strong man.  He is weak and that is why women have flooded to Romney.

Angry Obama might win votes from his base but that is all.  He already has those.

This election is over.

Posted by: Bill Mitchell at October 10, 2012 07:26 AM (hlUJY)

79 Romney closing in on Obama is, of course, horrible news for Romney. Any tightening in the polls of states that had been blue is, of course, horrible for Romney. Look it's over. It doesn't matter how many polls show Romney leading or tied that previously showed him losing, it's over.

Posted by: Gerg Loves Lamp at October 10, 2012 07:26 AM (V6aL5)

80 Listen up, knuckleheads...%81 of black ARE VOTING for The President.  That is %81 of guaranteed turnout, because that is what he pool says.

If you add that to the %45 of the latinos, then you have %126, which is way more than Obama needs to win.

That is how numbers work in the real world, knuckleheads.

But in a knucklehead world, you can still pretend Romney is your president, if you want.

136 Semi-OT Long anecdote here, but I think it's worth it. Some years ago there was a Fantasy Fair here in DFW called Hawkwood. Think of a Renaissance Fair where elves are not only approved, but part of the cast. Anyway, there was one comedy-swordfighting show that would always start of with some warnings. They'd say things like, "If one of us falls off the stage, slamming our heads into the pavement? That is not part of the show. Go get help. If we are fighting, and one of us gets pierced through the side? That is not part of the show. Go get help. If a small child jumps up, runs down the aisle, leaps on stage and is accidentally decapitated, spewing blood all over the front rows? They have just become part of the show." Well, methinks Gurgie (which is what I will always call him now) has become part of the show.

That's because you can't think like a lefty.  You find it hard to do that because you live in the real world - the world where actions have consequences.

Leftism is an emotional movement.  It has absolutely nothing to do with reality.  When facts are on their side - and they rarely are - they argue the facts.  When facts are not on their side, they act with the emotional comportment of a two-year old.

Look at any lefty movement of the last 40 years and tell me I am wrong.

197 Still not getting trolls. It would never occur to me to go on a lefty thread and make claims about how we are going to win. It seems counter productive to me since it wins no votes (trolls being obnoxious and all) and it energizes the opposition rather than depressing turnout.

Plus if I went to a lefty site I might get cooties.

201 Polling from Susquehanna Research today has Pa. Sen. Bob Casey with 46 percent to Tom Smith's 44 percent with 9 percent undecided. They declare the race a "statistical tossup." I don't buy the Rasmussen poll numbers for PA.

203 If Obama wins or if the Dems win the Senate, Greg is right.  My tears will be for America but just for a second.  I will then go into my 'every man for themselves' mode and will not look back.  I will stomp on people like Greg when they eventually cry for help.

204 #193  I leave going to those sites to the tougher people;  I am not one of them.

I did learn this,  though.  The election,  after we have all done our best,  is in God's hands.    The election of 2000 taught me this.

209 Still boils down to this:

Suppose your kids are starving.  Who would help you?

Mitt Romney,  who once took an entire Thanksgiving dinner to people having a hard time,

OR

Barack Obama,  who in four years has never produced one account of personal kindness,  not one?

212 I just don't understand what happened to Nevada (I'm guessing illegal immigration).

A traditionally Republican state with the worst unemployment in the nation should be +8 Romney, and sure as hell would have been just a few short years ago.

I give out phones and EBT cards so starving kids can order pizza delivered. Tell me how that's not an act of kindness.

They felt it necessary to post the "We Survived Bush, You'll Survive Obama" crap the past four years every time TFG fucked up. Which was a lot. They will either block me or get 4 years of Mitt facts daily. They set the rules, I'm just playing along.

217 "So, King Putt is under-performing in places like CT, NV and WI (and lots of other formerly deep-blue states) by 10-12 points (and sometimes more), but somehow (according to Greg and the MSM) this is going to translate to Romney losing IA, FL, OH, VA, NC and MO." I worry that they're tempting Romney to waste resources in places like PA and NV precisely so they can pull off shenanigans in MO. His lead has been slipping steadily there thanks to Akin, who reported to the AP he took in $1 million last month, undoubtedly from Democrats encouraging him to stay in the race. I really think MO is the GOP's Achilles heel. It could lead to a tie decided by the House with riots ensuing.

222 So help me, if the numbnuts in Nevada who saddled us with the execrable Harry Reid, end up giving the state to Obama, I will never set foot in Vegas again as long as I live. (Requires a qualifier : I hate Vegas. It's like Disneyland with the tackiness amped up on steroids for fat lazy people who think that they are visiting Italy or New York if they go to a replica casino. And people who live there voted for Harry Reid. )

223 "152 Ipersonally know several people that voted for the Lyin kING and will either not vote or switch to Mitt.I do not know anyone who voted for McStupid that will not vote or vote Lyin kING! Posted by: Natasha at October 10, 2012 09:22 AM (pyYXJ)

224 This is good news. Combined with the fact that more Republicans are requesting early ballots then Democrats, 2012 may be better for Republicans than 2010, despite the Dems regaining their '08 level registration lead. In 2010, though Reid won against Angle (she was Reid's dream opponent), his son lost by double digits to Gov. Sandoval, AND Republicans won more votes for their assembly candidates than the Dems.

225 "In 2010, though Reid won against Angle (she was Reid's dream opponent), his son lost by double digits to Gov. Sandoval, AND Republicans won more votes for their assembly candidates than the Dems."

Exactly, and that's why I roll my eyes when I hear conspiracy theories about massive ballot stuffing from Unions being the reason Reid beat Angle.  If that were true, Reid's son wouldn't have lost by the massive margin he did, and Republicans wouldn't have done so well down the ticket.  Angle was a piss poor candidate that had crazy written all over her.

What's hurting the GOP in Nevada is mainly social issues, it's a libertarian state (what do you expect of Sin City?)  You get a pro-choice, Republican Governor Sandoval and Democrats get creamed because they have to talk about real issues.
