— Pixy Misa This election isn't over. Despite Romney's small lead in the national polls, he's down, tied or narrowly up in the swing states that matter. Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Colorado.
The election is next Tuesday. Next Tuesday! Can you believe it? You've been waiting for this moment since January 2009. You've been counting down the days. Now I ask you, what are you doing to help Mitt Romney?
If you are in one of the aforementioned states, then you have to volunteer. Hate making phone calls? Hate going door to door? Hate giving rides to people you don't know? Well, do you hate those things more or less than another four years of Barack Obama? A liberal Supreme Court for the next 20-30 years? A Barack Obama free from the constraints of running for re-election ever again?
I can only guess at your answer. If you can't take off election day, then volunteer at a local victory center in this last week of the campaign. You can find them here. Just click your state to find the nearest Victory Center. They are normally open seven days a week from 9am to 9pm. Show up. Make phone calls. Ask them if there is anything else you can do. They might be able to hook you up with a group doing door to door work. They may ask you to drive people to the polls on election day. If you don't get off work until 5pm, then drive people to the polls between 5:30 and 8:00.
You can make phone calls from home if you don't want to travel to a victory center. You can do so here.
Your volunteer work makes a difference. In 2004 George Bush won Iowa by 10,000 votes. If there are 1,000 precincts in Iowa, then that means George Bush got 10 extra voters to each precinct to win that election. You can drive 10 people to the polls, can't you? You can convince 10 people who otherwise weren't going to vote, can't you? You can convince 10 lazy registered Republicans to show up on election day, can't you? That's all you need to do to help Mitt Romney win the election. Our small contributions add up.
If you can take off election day(or a half day), then please consider signing up to work as a poll watcher. Sign up here. You can work the morning shift or the afternoon/evening shift. Once you sign up, they will send you an e-mail with a training video. They will mail you out a packet with the information you need and assign you to a polling place.
You will show up at that polling place on election day and work a strike list. A strike list is nothing more than a list all of the registered Republicans at the precinct you're working at. Strike lists are electronic now. so you'll need to take your smart phone or tablet. They will have you download an app that has three components.
One, the strike list which will allow you to mark off people as they come in and vote. Two, a "problems" option that lets you report problems such as fraud or that the democrats are trying to kick you out of the polling place. The Romney campaign has lawyers on standby for this. Three, a simple communication option. It allows you to send messages and observations to Romney's command center. For example, if the workers at the polling station say they've never seen it this busy before, then you should pass that along to the Romney HQ.
What happens when you mark a name off the strike list? It instantly updates the lists at the Romney command center where they have phone banks of people making calls. If someone shows up to vote, their name is off the list and they don't receive phone calls on election day asking them to vote. This is how we get out the vote. We call registered Republicans all day on election day until they vote.
Those are your options if you want to help defeat Barack Obama. Those of you living in Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Michigan, or Wisconsin should be volunteering. The fate of this election could depend on people like you. God forbid you wake up November 7th and see that Obama won because he got 4-5,000 more votes than Romney in Ohio.
Obamacare, the Supreme Court, the Middle East, energy production, food prices, inflation, Medicare insolvency, American insolvency....There is so much at stake in this election.
I'd like to end this plea with a few lines from one of my favorite speeches.
...and in so doing lose this way of freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening. Well I think it's time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by the Founding Fathers.Not too long ago, two friends of mine were talking to a Cuban refugee, a businessman who had escaped from Castro, and in the midst of his story one of my friends turned to the other and said, "We don't know how lucky we are." And the Cuban stopped and said, "How lucky you are? I had someplace to escape to." And in that sentence he told us the entire story. If we lose freedom here, there's no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.
And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except the sovereign people, is still the newest and the most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man.
This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

If you are in a non-swing state and sign up using the link in the sidebar, then they may not contact you. I'm guessing that they are focusing their resouces on Project ORCA for swing states.
If you live in a light red state, then show up at your local victory center. Your state may already go for Romney, but we need to win the down state races as well.

I don't know what the laws are in your state but in my state one of the few places you can't carry if you're licensed to carry is anywhere near a polling place. I forget the exact number of feet away from the polling place that entails since I don't bring weapons with me, in the car or on my person, when I go to vote.
So Alex? If security is a big concern, don't do it. Make calls instead, or go knock on doors with a group of good people.

Some of us were hard on Romney, not because we thought he was a bad choice, but because we didn't want him to coast through the process. I think it helped. He had a tough road, and as imperfect as his R opponents all were, they were necessary.

After signing up to volunteer I finally heard back last week (didn't know where to go). Made calls during the weeknights & door-to-door on weekends. Same thing this week, too. Much to my surprise, it was fun and everyone was super-nice.

No dough and living in a midnight blue part of deep blue CA, there is zero I can do to affect the election beyond state and local ballot measures. At some point (10 year or less) I'll move out and into some swing state where my vote will actually matter.
