No Security At Benghazi Consulate Except Locked Doors
— Ace

No Marines, no bulletproof windows. No nothing-- except "lock and key security," also known as "no security."

The administration "explains" this by saying it was an "interim facility." Apparently you don't have to fear attacks at an "interim facility." It's like a Church in the Highlander series.

Except it's not.

But it would be crude politics to say something like "Obama should have provided security at the 'interim facility.'"

How was he to know there was any danger? It's not like Benghazi has long been a, what are the right words?, an Al Qaeda stronghold or anything.

Oh wait. That's right, it always has been an Al Qaeda stronghold.

Now he's sending in ships and helicopters and Marines.

I guess to secure the dead bodies.

But remember, the real story of the day is "Mitt Romney criticizes Obama and the Cairo Embassy and the media doesn't like it one bit."

No Reason To Worry About Benghazi... Except for the State Department warning people about violence and kidnappings and assassinations in Benghazi.

By the way, there was also an IED attack on the office in June.

I guess those locks held at that point. So, they probably got overconfident about their door-locks.

By the Way: In Las Vegas, Obama delivered a beautiful eulogy for the dead embassy staffers, in the form of his own version of Amazing Grace.

The consulate where an American ambassador to Libya was killed on Tuesday is an “interim facility” not protected by the contingent of Marines that safeguards embassies, POLITICO has learned.

28 Under this fuck's lack-of-leadership the vacuum has taken lives:

His lack of leadership on Fast-and-Furious helped arm the drug cartels and took 2 American and over 300 Mexican lives, brought down atleast one Mexican Military Helicopter.

His lack of leadership on identifying the threats abroad in the Middle East have taken an American Ambassador's life while the Cairo Embassy is being overrun.

His lack of leadership has caused the US debt to spiral out of control, the US to not pass a simple budget for his entire term.

His lack of leadership is spreading uncertainty, at home and abroad.

How much longer should we hide from the facts in front of our eyes?

43 and remember, we all had to deal with lefty assholes yesterday who were all like "Boooot the NYT's says Bush should have known!!!!!" Right, but here? Then again, the key is not whether the president should have to micromanage what the local boots on the ground consider to be tactical decisions (example 1, Bush is told AQ wants to attack at some point, ok, tell me more when you know more and example 2, Obama is told we need marines at consulate, ok then do it). So, did consulate, interim tell obama "no problems, lolz, we'll be super safe without marines"? or did Obama tell consulate, interim that "lolz, jk, no marines for you because we respect islam"? That's the question, who decided on no marines?

What was he doing at a poorly secured consulate with just two Marines in Cowboy Country(Benghazi). This makes no sense! The right questions aren't being asked. You don't send an Ambassador based in Tripoli to evacuate a consulate in Benghazi. That's not his job. You send the military to do that. So why was he there? In Benghazi?

No "lack of leadership" involved. None at all.

Everything you cite was deliberate. Things are turning out exactly the way Choom Boy and his co-conspirators want.

Well, except for the campaign donations. He needs a whole hell of a lot more money.

But wait, you say. If this was all deliberate, that means we have an America-hating traitor in the White House, someone who has no feeling for the people and country that have given him, well, everything.

That would be true.

166
Richard Nixon, in internal exile in 1979, quietly talked to visitors about the way in which Jimmy Carter had allowed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran to be violently sacked without reprisals. Nixon said that precedent was going to cause America huge problems in the future.

Nixon reminded those visitors that our embassies in foreign countries are ENCLAVES OF SOVEREIGN U.S. SOIL within those foreign countries. And that allowing attacks on those embassies without retaliation is precisely tantamount to allowing foreign enemies to attack on American home turf without retaliation.

Nixon didn't say what he thought should have been done militarily, but given that we're talking about a guy who twice sent huge B-52 strikes right into downtown Hanoi in Operation Linebacker 1 and Operation Linebacker 2, you can guess that what would have happened would have scared the living shit out of the Ayatollah Khomeini.

Instead, though, we got Carter's preposterous and failed attempt at a "hostage rescue".

And a whole lot of the trouble we have had from Islamists over all of the intervening decades goes straight back to that original tap root. Of allowing the indefensible to happen to us in front of the rest of the world without striking back using brutal levels of punitive force.

The hostage crisis was covered every day, I remember seeing newspulper headlines with the daily bad news.  It wasn't as bad as during the Bush years, but Jimmy did not get a pass for his inept stupidity.

203 - the big difference this time is who will be voting....back then I could sense in the weeks leading up to the election that Jimmy would be kicked back to Plains and adults would get to work in D.C.

This time?  Well, I watched those EAC videos that were posted this afternoon, interviews with a bunch of picketing Chicago teachers.  Yikes!  Some (not all) but some were very normal looking people, spouting the most insane nonsense and wearing all the required Che and commie accessories.

And they vote.

Well, Savant Joe's prediction has come true ... and the international challenge is, really, regime-changing in magnitude. A US Embassy was sacked, and the Ambassador murdered, and apparently his corpse was dragged through the streets ... this is universally accepted as an Act of War, and words and sanctions are not even remotely enough. I have a continuing fantasy that I have had since 9/11. On one of islam's high holy days, they awake to find mecca and medina covered to a uniform depth of one inch with swine slaughterhouse effluvia. In red letters 1 foot high, there is a billboard in the center of both sites that simply states, "If your god is the god of all gods, this would have been impossible. So shut the hell up and quit killing everyone who disagrees with you. You are going to need a whole of infidels who are not afraid of a pig to scrub this place down."

Kidding aside, would it surprise you if the Mossad had info on a coordinated attack and didn't inform Obama because 1, he can't be trusted not to leak it, 2, Obama obviously doesn't give a $hit about Iran nuking Israel 3, snubbed Bibi,  and 4, a successful attack would gin up the American public against the Muslim extremists.   This is not an attack on Israel.  If you were Israel would you tell him?   My feeling is they would have told him, despite 1-4.

240 Unreal. It was 9/11 also and what was Preznit doing? Campaigning or golfing.

Please keep repeating a few points:
1) Obama did not even bother to attend national security meeting the week of 9/11 when normally there is extra security even in the US (or there was, under W).

2) The Obama administration has not shared national security information with Romney at all. This is protocol after nominations in an election year. The Obama WH? They will...eventually, with no date stated.

3) Obama, through Hillary, paid Egypt (aka the Muslim Brotherhood) $1.5 billion dollars of your money this past March/April. It was an executive order and not voted through Congress. This same $1.5 billion dollars could have been paid towards the national $16 trillion debt instead. This is a wonderful example of both his executive orders and lack of budge restraints. Also lack of sense, but that goes without saying.

4) Mitt Romney was spot on with every single word he said

5) The "unbiased" media coordinates and double-teams Romney in press conferences while throwing softballs at the delicate Dear Leader.

6) Instead of overseeing the beginning of possibly WWIII, Obama went to Las Vegas for a campaign fund-raiser

7) Hillary, instead of a laser-like focus on the Middle East, spent the week of the Democrat Convention jetting around the South Pacific wearing leis and getting laid (ok, not sure about the last part of sentence).

Israel has been abandoned by this administration

9) My own rage is overflowing

10) Romney/Ryan must be elected.

It was one of my first thoughts when this all began.  Many have observed that he would find some excuse to either pump up his votes by 'responding' to a crisis, or just call the whole thing off.  The same thing occurred to me concerning the  teachers' strike in Chicago.  I feel strongly somehow has orchestrated that considering the timeframe.

Posted by: avagreen at September 12, 2012 04:23 PM (WR2rX)

263 @264...my concern is that Marines will be killed due to ROE and firing rubber bullets or something. The optics of this buffoon flouncing off to a fundraiser in Las Vegas is...I don't have the words. The media would have had it non-stop if Bush did this in a crisis (look what they did to him during Katrina). I may start my own campaign tomorrow calling every single MSM and demanding they print or discuss the lack of security in Libya. Cowards. Bootlickers. I hate them and condemn them in the strongest terms possible. They are the twelfth man of the team.

I don't think the WH want to retaliate with great force. Unless he plans on sending drone attacks, in which they will all wail regarding the innocent. There will be more Mooslem brothahood outcries from his buds in Chicago like Lewis Farrakhan.

The point needs to be made, over and over by all of us, among other points, WHY was there no added security on 9/11 for these embassies and all interests at home and overseas? Why? For that matter, why lack of security at all for the Ambassador in Libya? Nail them to the wall. At least Politico printed it. Let's see if CNN and the NYT will follow (not holding breath).

I don't think I am going to survive until election day without head exploding at the now criminal incompetence of this administration. They signed a death warrant for these four souls with their lack of security. They cannot blame Bush for this.
