Some of us still have nightmares about McCain. And the general sense that the squishes (I'm totally saying that lovingly right now) always seem to have more fight for conservatives than for democrats.
That being said, Romney's showing some fight, so good on him. Also one of the trolls told me he was responsible for Dunkin Donuts and I love Dunkin Donuts, so, um, yay, team.

I think the issue was that he wasn't showing any of this in the primaries. He was giving indications of going all McCain on Obama's ass. You can't really fault us for thinking so.
That being said, I find my increasing faith in Romney disturbing.

That may be true, but his short political record is quite different from his bidness one. I can appreciate his bidness record, but it's his political record that concerns me. He's spouted off some fairly leftish political stuff even when out from under the yoke of lefty MA. I hope he corrects.

My guess is if there's a quick small move away from Obama, if we start to see Romney tick above 50% and a few swing states appear out of Dem reach, it won't ever come back for Obama.
If it starts to look like Romney's race to lose, we'll see a safe, placeholder sort of VP pick.

I don't share Ace's exuberance yet and Romney is not as conservative as I would like, but he's a good choice to take on Obama. And if he wins, I don't think he'll be an awful President--nowhere near as bad as the one we have now--especially with a GOP Congress tugging him rightward.

Well, that's the point. He didn't hesitate at all to bring out the long knives against the other Republicans, but his tendencies toward Obama were all "Well, he's a good guy, but..." and other such squishiness. It made it seem as though (like McAmnesty before him) he would "reach across the aisle" and that he might even say that "you have nothing to fear from" a second Obama term.

He may have been wearing his 'mittens' during the primaries, but we all saw how Romney went after his GOP rivals with a meat cleaver.
There was never a doubt in my mind that he'd be exponentially more brutal on Obama -- the socialist responsible for pressing the pedal to the medal on America's catastrophic debt spending. Not a Single Fucking Doubt.
Romney will appropriately harness the extreme anger that tens of millions of Americans harbor against Obama for the damage he has done and would continue to do to our country. By appropriate, I mean that Romney won't over play his hand. (Though that would be fairly hard to do considering Obama's record.) Rather, Romney will harness and focus the energy of our anger without appearing ugly and angry himself.
With ads like this one plus his arguments from the stump, Romney will help millions of other half-oblvious Americans that are 'undecided' come to the realization that: "Yeah, this president really does kind of suck. We really shouldn't let him have a second term."

The distant incomprehensible, long ago, and far away world of 2008. Where trashing Republicans in the primary was A-OK but going hard after Obama was off limits.
Personal attacks aside which are arguably harmful to our side, Romney has done a little to assuage my fears, but I haven't seen the level of "He's a SCOAMF!" I am looking for yet.

Probably because you don't know how you will handle the decision not going our way. Make a plan how you will respond for both possible outcomes. Then realize that further worry prior to decision announcement will not help. Having a contingency plan helps stave of the worries.

IIRC, Email is basically required (as it is most places to cut down on spam in some meaningful way) but you should have a throw away email account by now for this type of thing (also I have it set to send me emails for DMs and such so I don't miss them.) You can turn off "Search by email address" as well (so it won't show, just like here.)

Just look at the body of Ace's post. You have the overarching strategery of Romney pounding on SCUD's economy - the thing that will eventually win the campaign - but you also have the quick, fleeting tactical attack of FidoGate. Next week the tactical attack will take a different form, but the net effect of the little attacks is to dishearten the enemy and build morale for the good guys. All the while, the big economic campaign grinds on.

I think it's a good line of attack for a couple of reasons. One, it's revolting. It underscores how unAmerican Obama really is. It's a subtle reminder this guy was not raised in America and does not share our culture.
Two, it points out the hypocrisy of him making Romney's dog an issue. Obama is the most hypocritical, lying weasel I've ever seen. Unfortunately many in the squishy middle only know what they learn from the MFM. By pointing out the hypocracy over and over every chance we have, hopefully O's true nature will break through to those who still don't see it. A sensational example like eating a dog draws attention, so it's a good for our side to capitalize on it.

True, and if voters, especially undecided independents, decided who to vote for only based on real issues, there'd be no need to respond. But we have to fight fire with fire especially when we have the advantage which we do here. Can't afford to ignore the other side even when their attacks are stupid.

You quite obviously do not live in a state whose residents were deluged with nasty campaign literature from Romney and his PACs (and if you think there's a distinction there I have some oceanfront property in Arizona you might be interested in) during the weeks before their primaries/caucuses. Romney tore his opponents apart like a rabid dog yet barely mentioned Obama for months.
You'll have to forgive us for believing what we saw instead of all your happy-talk. Some of us just have a hard time getting past our own lying eyes.
