— CAC Some are now waking up to the potential of Wisconsin going to Romney, especially since Ryan is now on the ticket. Welcome to the Order of the CAC:
It has been in play since 2010, and the Walker operation that saw massive Republican turnout in the WOW never turned the lights out. With Ryan on the ticket, and Reince as RNC chair, Wisconsin is a top-priority state for the Romney team and they will be pouring millions to keep the red streak alive there.
Now if I can just convince a few more folks that Pennsylvania isn't a windmill this time...

A home state VP probably adds 2-3 points minimum. If Bush can come within a point in both 2000 and 2004, I'd say it's nearly in the bag with Romney/Ryan, especially now that they have a voter ID law on the books. Bye Bye out of state Madison college kidz.
The electoral math for Obama is EXTREMELY difficult for Obama now, even if he peels off Ohio, the GOP could still win the White House.

I think PA is in play, but the interesting one to me will be Minnesota. They've been unhappy with the DFL for decades now. They've been running 3-way races since Ventura for most major statewide races. It signals to me a party out of favor with the people who are nonetheless emotionally tied to it.
No matter how elitist they become, Democrats are still seen as the party of the "workin' man".
But the Iron Range dumped their "been there forever" Dem Congressman and he didn't do anything specific, like, say, a scandal. With a Wisconsinite on the ticket, it might be quite close. If this is a landslide election, I think they will go red.

Ryan though represents a liberal leaning district, and yet he still clobbers his Democrat opponents by usually double digit margins. I tend to think the same people that have voted for him in the past will be there for him at the top of the ticket.
Also, there is at least some "home state" pride, even if the politician is not in your specific district. Wisconsin is definitely wired that way.
I think 2-3 points is a pretty conservative estimate for the "Ryan" effect on the ticket in Wisconsin.

Strategically, due to it's demographics it might be a good sink since we have such a large money advantage going forward to spread the battlefield and make that jagoff stretch his resources thinner -- sacrificing resources that would have gone to coverage of OH, VA and FL.
In terms of actually winning -- if we take PA the country has tilted such that we're already fated to go north of 300 EVs and are doing lines of blow off strippers tits by 8pm.

Rove and Trippi are playing it correctly if you were an academic. They only move when they have a data-point and don't rely on inferences or historical linkages, etc.
Nobody has polled SC, ND and TX in at least a month and in SC's case it's like upwards of 6 months. So, he leaves it undecided. That said, no [public] pollster is going to waste money polling a state like SC where they know from demographic and historical couplings that it's solid republican.
Rove's map is, thus, to be taken as an uber-conservative baseline that's a lagging indicator of the current state of the race.
CAC's (or mine) maps are to be taken as aggressive heuristics that are geared toward being a predictive leading indicator.

I appreciate the sentiment but I have lived in Alberta and the Yukon as a youth when Grandpa had custody. Nobody will have a lot of employment if the worst comes to pass, Barack is on course to buzzsaw economic freedom here. He can win by 1 in PV and EC and you KNOW he has "a mandate".
They are in a rage that we beat 'em in 2010 and even if we have the house and seante they are gonna go nuts with EOs.

I am beyond becoming a cynical bitch. If they want to riot, LET THEM. We have survived riots before. I refuse to live in fear. If it looks like it is going to be close, then, don't go into the worst cities the night of the election and the day after, so you do not become a victim like poor Reginald Denny. Call in sick, take a vacation day, just don't go until they have everything under control. Without innocents to worry about protecting, it takes a lot less time to get a riot under control.
