Joe Biden Suuuupppper Genius!
— DrewM

One speech, two awesome bits of Biden.

First, his amusing geography error. Note, he's speaking in Virginia when he says this.

I guess the Democrat's plan to win NC is through massive voter fraud by Virginians or something.

From funny Joe to disgusting Joe.

The "y'all" is a nice touch whether you're in NC or VA. Southerns are all the same anyway, right Joe?

It's really rich to hear Democrats talking about putting people in chains to massive institutions. You know like failing public schools to benefit teacher unions, or on welfare by eliminating work requirements or God forbid! giving people a choice to plan for their retirement with choices other than Medicare or Social Security.

Added: This is making the rounds too. Biden "mocks" the woman doing the sign language. Personally, I think he's mocking himself for being a gaseous windbag but I admit, no matter how dumb he is, I can't stay mad at Slow Joe.

It's worse than that. He's talking to the blacks in the audience because he says put "back" in chains. Have the whites ever been in chains?

And this is what I hear him say: "He gonna put y'all back in chains." Then it ends with his "he said he gonna do nuttin--" before cutting off.

I can see the media response if Romney lapsed into this patois while addressing the NAACP.

Do not trust any politician whose voice morphs like this based on the audience he thinks he's addressing. A person condescending in this manner seeks to be a demagogue because he's unnaturally pretending to be one of you versus one of "them."

77 The Republican Party was not founded to abolish slavery; that was the position of the Abolitionists.

The Republican Party was founded to prevent the expansion of slavery into the Western territories; slavery, denied the opportunity to expand, would wither and then be out-voted as immigrants settled the West with 'free labor'

Republicans wanted slavery to die out within a generation or so ( after their founding in 1854 ) and expected it would do so.  They absorbed the Free Soil Party and attracted a lot of Whigs like Lincoln

189 170 - Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I think there was some wisdom in that approach once upon a time. Compared to the parliamentary democracies (with the possible exception of Britain), there has always been much less chaos in the American system. I assume the two-party system more or less evolved, and no one objected because it helped the pols establish their power structure, and it also kept them somewhat in line, away from crazier political philosophies. But the Dems have pretty much abdicated responsibility, some would say ever since the days of FDR. I think it would be good for the country if we could destroy their party, and let something healthier replace it.

193 185 Who is moderating the VP Debate? That would be ABC's Martha Raddatz. Posted by: MWR, Proud Tea(rrorist) Party Hobbit at August 14, 2012 01:22 PM (4df7R) ****** I didn't even know who the hell that was. rockmom posted her bio--foreign policy is her thing. So guess what the VP debate will be on-*if* Ryan doesn't redirect? Yep, foreign policy. Unfortunately for her--Ryan is damn good at pivoting to what he wants to talk about.

211 200 170 - Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Posted by: BurtTC at August 14, 2012 01:25 PM (2pG7H) ******* Okay-I see you know your stuff. I always thought proportional representation would not work well here because of the fact that the United States is not as homogeneous as say--Canada. So while I am upthread talking negatively about the 50/50 nation-there is also a huge upside to that. IOW you don't have every minority group with it's own political party because that isn't viable in a two party system. I think that's the way it has to be in United States. What do you think about that? It's an interesting debate.

224 Either she has a new miracle worker make up artist and stylist or she's had major work ala nanny p and she's got someone at home smart enough to say "mom take off that dress it looks terrible". But could be she saw the infomercial for the spray make up and she'll be their spokesperson in her next job. And it could be the sale rack was just chock full of decent dresses since no one but rich people like her can afford to buy nowadays.... Either way, wonder if she gets on everyone's nerves in the democratic party. I mean she is making Michael Steele's tenure in the Republican party look like a rousing success. I ignore joe biden. He's sent out there to say outrageous things to distract from the real issues at hand. They sequestered him in Rehoboth for most of the summer, didn't let him near a camera, phone or podium but since they are bringing flotus back in guess joe complained so here he is....

225 Posted by: Midaz at August 14, 2012 01:40 PM (ff2kT) Actually I'm worried about the debate. Paul Ryan is a lovely person. He was raised well to respect the elderly and those with lesser brain power and to respect his elders. Joe falls into all those categories. I hope he is not so deferential to the vice president that he loses in the debates. And you know they fully expect those well behaved republicans to perform as predicted so Ryan won't get down and dirty. I always remember the debate my dad made me watch between hillary and Rick Lazio where he was trouncing her, winning all the way and then he lost, she made mincemeat out of him in minutes.... I worry that will happen with a Ryan/Biden match.... Can Ryan get his points across in a climate that is wholly against him and come out the winner?
