[Lovitz] felt that spirit threatened by the attacks on rich people from the chief executive. “I said what a lot of people are thinking,” he told Kelly, and explained that “a lot of people are thanking me… they feel like they are being vilified because they are successful.” . . .As for pushback, Lovitz went as far as saying it may have helped his career, and explained that he would “never tell anybody who to vote for.” “I think I’m a different kind liberal in that I think people should be true to themselves… if you’re Republican or Democrat or conservative, you should be that.” Saying he was not “qualified” to tell people who to vote for, he noted he had about 10,000 new twitter followers, and there, “people say you’re a racist, you’re a Nazi– I’m Jewish, I’m a Nazi now– I mean, that’s the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever heard!”
The John Lovitz Comedy Club and Podcast Theater is at Universal Studios. Just sayin'.

Or explosives. But usually a crack. Lovitz just blinked after a sledgehammer hit his worldview. The inherent contradiction in leftism smacked him right upside the head. He hasn't had nearly enough time to apply that realization across the board yet.
But, once something cracks and you acknowledge it, it's awfully damn hard to pretend the rest of the fantasy is still real.
Posted by: grognard, SMOD-Squad at May 16, 2012 11:24 AM (NS2Mo)
There is hope for him yet. If he truly thinks he is not qualified to tell anyone else who to vote for, then he is not a leftist/Liberal. Those never have any problem at all telling everyone just how to behave/what to eat/who to vote for.

How the mighty have fallen. The New York Times may still be trying to perform mouth to mouth resuscitation on the decomposing OWS corpse, attributing continuing policy influence sans evidence of any kind to a movement that has all but completely disappeared, but compared to the Tea Party, except for the media hype, OWS was a political flop.

It's an interesting case study.
Lovitz is clearly caught up in a lot of the phoney feel-good crapola, and general tribalism, but he has also finally noticed that his "team" is actually demonizing him.
So, instead of waking up to the fact that they are his enemies, he stands confused. He complains bitterly, thinking that perhaps if he speaks out it will change them. He reminds me of the new bride, who develops new expectations of her spouse, and expects to "change him", completely ignoring who he was when they got married.
Sorry, Jon, but you're pissing in the wind. That's WHO THEY ARE. In fact, it is at the very CORE of who they are. You only hurt yourself by supporting them. You're what they call a "useful idiot".

Well, except the usual suspects, but that's not really surprising.
It means that "normal people" can sit back and say: "Wait a minute, he's right. Why work hard if the Government is going take all that away? And yet the Government wants me to work hard. I smell a rat."
It doesn't matter if he votes for Obama, or doesn't vote. He will almost certainly be responsible for other people not voting for Obama in November.

It's encouraging. People don't change overnight. It took me years, but it started with little chips in the indoctrination.
I voted for Clinton both times, but interestingly enough, while living in Chicago in 1996, I used to listen to Mancow Muller on the way to work every day. He had a featured segment called "The Truth." That's where I think it started.
By 1998, I wanted Clinton impeached and out of office. In 2000, I voted for Dubya.
It takes time to shake off the sleepiness, and that's when your career isn't a direct correlation with how left-wing you are.

This!
I think we non-libs get desperate at times to have a few celebrities speak out against the government utopia the libs are trying to foist upon us. Jon Lovitz is just an example of someone who pokes his head out of the sand for a moment, sees things for what they are, gripes about it, then shoves his head back in.

Posted by: not a fan at May 16, 2012 03:35 PM (gCa4h)
The left hated Guiliani and called him a Nazi YEARS before 9/11, all because he was actually successful at cleaning up a big part of NYC, resulting in the "Disneyfication of Times Square" (remember that phrase?). They would have preferred the Adult Movie theaters, shooting galleries and porn shops remain at the center of the city.
