Jon Stewart Introduces Fast & Furious To Those Inside The Liberal Cocoon
— Ace

Semi-funny, and he does a reasonably good job of actually reporting on Fast and Furious -- something the media refuses to do.

It will be a little harder for reporters to claim there's nothing worth investigating in Fast & Furious when their designated Truth Teller just contradicted them.

The most biting part of it is his characterization of Fast and Furious as a program to smuggle guns into Mexico... in order to find out who's smuggling guns into Mexico. Turns out, he says, it's the US government. "Circle of life," Stewart says.

29 Is there a chance those US Consulate murders are related? I thought our response to that was weird at the time. Too muted. It was a Mexican drug gang that murdered them--and when is the last time US Consulate workers have been murdered? Doesn't happen every day. Supposedly they were handing out visas to a rival drug gang. Did the press ever ask any more questions about that? Now that we know the Obama Admin was handing out guns to rival drug gangs are visas that hard to believe? I'm starting to doubt the murdered consulate workers did that on their own initiative. Seems sort of related and I think the timing corresponds.

Perhaps the saddest element in all of this that after hundreds have been murdered with the very automatic weapons the United States government actively provided in circuity to drug cartels, the story finds its bona fides only when it is broadcast on a show aired on a network called, Comedy Central.

I truly weep for our country.

43 Jon Stewart throws a crumb to the right.

My guess is that he did it because he realizes this isn't going away.  The facts are just too nasty to stay hidden by the MSM.  Stewart's own ego required him to get in front of the dam that will eventually burst by talking about it now, with reasonable accuracy.  This way, he'll look prescient and "plugged in" to events that nobody else seems to know about (nobody but the *cough* right blogosphere *cough*, where it's been common knowledge for more than a year) and his dimwitted audience will continue to think he's a comedic savant.

Its a good sign, I guess, that people outside of the right are sensing that this is going to blow up.

50 The murder weapon used against Brian Terry--I just googled it--sorry just getting really interested in this now... It was found at the scene. That's not a bloody "accident". That was a message from the drug cartel on the "outs".... Seems to be the same "message" being sent by the US consulate murders. Drug gangs are business men--they don't take those kinds of risks for the hell of it. It's very calculated. When was the last time a drug cartel in Mexico murdered US consulate workers. 90 This is only the first treatment of the story. Stewart won't tell that whole thing in one setting. It's a developing narrative in any case.  That Stewart even covered it is the key.  It verifies that the snowball is now officially rolling downhill and picking up both speed and mass. You morons shouldn't wait to lay in popcorn, shavers, and pudding supplies.  This is going to be epic.

From my brief experience with bus monitors as a child, they're supposed to be there to make sure the kids stay in their seats and don't beat each other up or stick each other out the window.  It saves the bus driver from having to split his or her attention between driving and observing the bus.   The problem is that bus monitors and drivers have no power to actually discipline the kids.   So it's more or less useless.

I do find it funny that this is such a breaththrough for the Left.  The Daily Show and Colbert actually have shitty ratings; nobody watches them.   I suspect their most potent influence is when their videos go viral, as this one hopefully will.

226 As to Jon Stewart, guess what it's not the same. The program under the Bush administration was in concert with the Mexican government. They realized that it was a POS and bagged the idea as too risky. So the Obama administration starts a new one and didn't inform the Mexican government nor the cops on either side. And an agent and a sheriff got dead. Apples and oranges but the fact that ANYONE other than Fox is talking about F & F is a freaking miracle. No--I'm not buying the--it's to suppress the second amendment.

Any particular reason?

It was going to be pretty immediate gain in context--allowing the advancement of an agenda that has been brewing for 20 years, all in a  matter of a year or two.  They had already been priming the press to report about "US guns flooding into Mexico" when for the life of me I couldn't understand what drug lords needed with semi-auto crap.  At $200 or so a pop, though, that's cheap firepower, even if you can't really suppress with it (unless you have a lot of dudes firing).  Not to be all "UN" about it, but the small arms trafficking treaty would have been a coup for Lord Zero.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/ politics/2009/04/president-ob-18/

April 17, 2009:

"As President Calderón and I discussed, I am urging the Senate in the United States to ratify an inter-American treaty known as CIFTA to curb small arms trafficking that is a source of so many of the weapons used in this drug war," said President Obama in Mexico City on Thursday.

School authority figures are like English cops these days.  Their response to bad behavior is to say "STOP! Or I'll say STOP again!"

Alas, most school types are libtards now, so that's just how they want it. And worse, that's how many of the parents want it.  I never trust any so-called parent who is unwilling, on philosophical grounds, to beat their kid.

257 As to Jon Stewart, guess what it's not the same. The program under the Bush administration was in concert with the Mexican government. Posted by: tired

Stewart, to his credit, didn't even bring up the 'BOOOOSH started it' meme in regards to Wide Receiver.

They realized that it was a POS and bagged the idea as too risky. So the Obama administration starts a new one and didn't inform the Mexican government nor the cops on either side.

The 'They' part is somewhat important. The 'They' according to Codrea's informant was the Bush DOJ atty's. They didn't pick up the prosecutions after the ATF had arranged the buys. It fell apart at the DOJ level.

Apples and oranges but the fact that ANYONE other than Fox is talking about F & F is a freaking miracle.

Well, their hands were forced. They didn't cover the beginning of the case so they have to do sloppy recaps in order to keep their cover of 'journalism' still going. The alphabets fall into this trap routinely. Partisanship inevitably leads to hiding info from readers, info that rears up and kicks them in the ass.

263 Any particular reason? It was going to be pretty immediate gain in context--allowing the advancement of an agenda that has been brewing for 20 years, all in a matter of a year or two. They had already been priming the press to report about "US guns flooding into Mexico" when for the life of me I couldn't understand what drug lords needed with semi-auto crap. At $200 or so a pop, though, that's cheap firepower, even if you can't really suppress with it (unless you have a lot of dudes firing). Not to be all "UN" about it, but the small arms trafficking treaty would have been a coup for Lord Zero. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/ politics/2009/04/president-ob-18/ April 17, 2009: "As President Calderón and I discussed, I am urging the Senate in the United States to ratify an inter-American treaty known as CIFTA to curb small arms trafficking that is a source of so many of the weapons used in this drug war," said President Obama in Mexico City on Thursday. Posted by: imp at June 22, 2012 02:04 PM (UaxA0) ******** Hmmmm.... Let's just say that's almost too much "team" for Obama. What's in it--directly--for Obama? Why does he and Holder take he risk? What's in it for them? Maybe they are that altruistic for the Democratic cause...but I have a hard time believing that. Hell I have no clue--so maybe that was their goal.

265 Still doesn't make sense.

I wasn't opining as to their motives, I was describing their actions.

As for their motives, I think it's the 2nd Amendment stuff.  We have them on tape talking about using Fast and Furious to push through "Demand Letter 3" or whatever it's called.  I've heard (though not confirmed) that they shut down Gun Shops that complied with their demands but weren't wise enough to get (or keep) written documentation that they were acting on ATF orders.

That could be the same case in the gun story. Only one gang was getting the guns. Is that true? Anyways...that would explain why the Obama Admin didn't wan the guns 'tracked". Let's put the best possible motives on this I can come up with (I don't believe this for a minute, but I have a pretty good imagination).

There are several Drug Cartels operating in Mexico, and as they get more bold, they're also causing trouble in Border States.  The two biggest are the Zetas and the Sinolas, with the Zs being the biggest and the baddest: they effectively own large swaths of the border.

To blunt the Zetas, guns are smuggled to the Sinolas with the hope that the two groups will weaken each other.

Now, here's why I don't believe that:
1) If that was really the aim, there were better ways to get the guns to the Sinolas.
2) If that was really the aim, the Mexican Government would have been told.

How great would it be if Joan Collins was a bus monitor. Pretty great, that's how.
I'd go Raquel Welch or Diana Rigg.

All we need now, is to get Jon Stewart to ask why.

Why, Jon?

NONE of fast and furious makes any sense in the real world.

I know the conservative speculations about gun control motives but liberals aren't going to buy that without proof.  They have to get an answer for themselves.

Why just give guns to criminals? How could that ever be a good plan?

Why didn't anyone care that Mexicans would die?  They had to assume the guns would be used to kill Mexicans.  That's what guns in the hands of criminals do... kill people.  Surely they didn't think anyone was shooting deer with them.

Would Obama or Holder have approved those guns going into South Chicago, Harlem, or Watts?  Why is Mexico that different?

Why isn't the life of a teen-aged Mexican National worth as much as a teen-aged African American?

And then, why cover for murder?  Who is being protected and why is our government covering for murderers?

Much of the world is just now reading about this for the very first time... I saw the Telegraph had an article... And the Brits are pretty stunned.  It is so illogical.

Just knowing isn't enough... they have to start asking questions.  Because it is the questions that make this the worst corruption in American History.

339 Maybe the Mexican government was smuggling guns to the Zetas. A mini cold war, if you will. Posted by: Vashta Nerada at June 22, 2012 02:27 PM (DRgeg) IIRC the US State Department was smuggling guns to the Zetas. And MS-13 in Honduras. And explosives. The ATF then retaliated by smuggling guns to Chicago and other US cities. I so wish I was joking.

What's in it--directly--for Obama?

Same thing that was in it for Obama, directly, in health care.  Socialization of the nation and accomplishment of a legislative objective.

Listen, tasker, I'm an anti-conspiracy guy generally.  But no one in the federal government allows guns to go into a foreign country without some high up ok

A couple more things for your "Wide Receiver versus Fast & Furious" comparison chart.

WR F&F
Arrests 1400 0
RFID Chiped Yes No
Helicopters? Yes No
Total Guns? 400 2000
Start Date ??? Oct 2009
End Date 2007 ???

49 The murder weapon used against Brian Terry--I just googled it--sorry just getting really interested in this now...

It was found at the scene.

That's not a bloody "accident".

That was a message from the drug cartel on the "outs"....

There was speculation that the  ATF/DOJ/BHO WANTED those guns found so that they could turn around and say that US guns were being  sold to Mexico, then being used against US citizens.

If I recall correctly, there was a 3rd gun also found  - which has never surfaced again - that was ALSO a F&F gun.  They hid that one really quickly....

And don't forget that right after BHO and HRC (among others) started banging the drum about "90% of all guns used in drug crimes across the Mexican border are purchased in the US", Calderon came over here and made the same statement AND villified the US in a joint session of Congress (and got a standing ovation by all of the Dems).

Then everyone in the administration had egg on their face when they couldn't PROVE their 90% claim, so  (we think) they decided to do something to make it happen.

346 I know the conservative speculations about gun control motives but liberals aren't going to buy that without proof. Let's see, they said ahead of time that US guns to Mexico was a huge problem, they were proven wrong, then they MADE IT TRUE, then they followed up by using WHAT THEY HAD DONE as a premise for more control laws. Yeah, total coincidence. /s All we lack is a confession. Why just give guns to criminals? How could that ever be a good plan? It could be a good plan if you intended to use the death of innocents for political purposes. Why didn't anyone care that Mexicans would die? The agents who were disciplined for objecting did. They had to assume the guns would be used to kill Mexicans. They were explicitly warned of this, and their response is reported to have been uncaring. Would Obama or Holder have approved those guns going into South Chicago, Harlem, or Watts? Funny you should say that, "Gangwalker" let guns "walk" to criminals in Chicago and other US cities. And then, why cover for murder? Who isbeing protectedand why is our government covering for murderers? Because they were complicit and don't want to be exposed / impeached / imprisoned. Who would? Just knowing isn't enough... they have to startasking questions. Because it is the questions that make this the worst corruption in American History. Posted by: petunia at June 22, 2012 02:29 PM (hgrmi) We started asking questions more than a year ago. We have enough of the answers to bring down at least the DOJ's leadership (and State), if we had a remotely honest press, which we don't.

Posted by: Al at June 22, 2012 02:35 PM (MzQOZ) Heck, not just the trolls. A lot of people seem to go random with the details. 1) Not "automatic" weapons. 2) Not one agent, but at least two. 3) Some people / newsdrones leave out the Mexican deaths. 4) The above distinctions between WR and FF are often lost, especially when someone is LYING about it. etc.

Posted by: baldilocks at June 22, 2012 02:42 PM (6kWFm) It used to *be* an urban legend, at least as far as the US Government smuggling guns directly to criminal gangs. It's not now, though. Lots of contraband has always been smuggled privately, though. I'm not sure if Watts is on the "gangwalker" list, I think it was 10 cities.

352 I agree Merovign, but rdbrewer's sidebar thing has a lot of the info tabulated in a 'WR vs FF' graphic.

One factoid I haven't seen is the tracking of how many of the Mexican deaths were police and military.

But the 'just the numbers and yes/no comparison' should be a running component of all the F&F posts here IMNSFHO.

353 There's a very simple reason for the implementation of Fast and Furious exactly as it was conducted: to foment chaos in both countries, leading to a crack down on freedoms in this country--especially the right to bear arms.

As has been said and demonstrated over and over again, when law-abiding citizens have their arms confiscated, criminals reign. (See: Chicago. A side affect of such a confiscation: anyone found in possession of a firearm automatically becomes criminal in the sight of the "law.")

Think of it.  Gangsters, burglars, perverts, jihadis, etc. rampaging over the land, all armed, while most good citizens are not.  The people will cry out for order. And a looming tyrannical government will give it to us and give it to us good.

Lucky you. 30 minutes for a hair cut, 30 minutes for painting color on the hair, 30 minutes of washing my hair (seems like) and at least 30 minutes for a blow out. 2 hours min, generally.  Yes, it's ridiculous.

Exactly, baldilocks.

I've thought this from the beginning of this whole stinky mess.....starting when Hillary and Barky first commented about the "threat of the flow of US guns into Mexico".

Made me wonder what they were up to.

'Engineering a crisis' that they could prey upon, looks like what they were up to.

They should have been suing the BATF.

360 This program was without a doubt an effort to involve US guns in Mexican crime in order to get some new gun laws.  There are just too many other "coincidences" for it to be anything else.

First the duly repeated lie that all the Mexican crime came from illegally purchased US guns.  A lie that is still repeated by the MFM despite it being immediately debunked by the NRA.

The the underhanded statement by the liar and chief that he had an under the table program going for new gun control.

And third, despite the fact that this bullshit program was revealed they order illegal new regulations for gun dealers who are now having to spend money and other resources to sue.

My prediction?  just a guess... but I'll bet this somehow ends up being from Valerie Jarrets desk.... with Elena Kagans help as well....

The methodology is similar.  Use 'Presecutorial Discretion' to determine whether to enforce the laws or not.... to some current things, INCLUDING whether the admin will defend such laws as Defense of Marriage...

Holder, Jarret, and the Kagan, are the three horsemen of the Lawcopalypse... where the rule of Law is subject to Administration Whim....
