Jon Stewart Notices That Obama's "Slow Jam" Sketch Wasn't Very Presidential
— Ace

And actually makes the same point the RNC ad did, contrasting some of the highlights of Romney's victory speech with Obama's buffoonish shenanigans.

Oh, it's not very funny, as it usually isn't. But it is worth noting.

And a few days ago Leno remarked that Republicans had a better sense of humor about themselves.

Oh: Dick Morris Predicts Liberal Media Will Turn On Obama. Sounds insane to me, but who knows.

Actually, scratch that "Who knows." It's insane. But I've had it open in my tabs for days and it's time to just clear it from the tab bar.

If you don't want to watch the clip: His theory is that the press corrects past errors and even over-corrects them. They realize (his theory goes) they were too in the bag for Obama last time, and so, despite their liberal leanings, they will correct that to some extent now.

Yeah, I still doubt it.

I Still Think This Is Hilarious. Towards the end, when Jiminy starts eating donuts.

Jay Leno has finally figured out that the neo-puritan politically correct Left isn't good at laughing at themselves?  The President Fragile Blossom is the most thin-skinned person to ever occupy the Oval Office?

12 saw this via Baldilocks. How long did it take him to admit he was history's dumbest Buckley?

But having a first-class temperament and a first-class intellect, President Obama will (I pray, secularly) surely understand that traditional left-politics arenÂ’t going to get us out of this pit weÂ’ve dug for ourselves. If he raises taxes and throws up tariff walls and opens the coffers of the DNC to bribe-money from the special interest groups against whom he has (somewhat disingenuously) railed during the campaign trail, then he will almost certainly reap a whirlwind that will make Katrina look like a balmy summer zephyr.

If (and I'm still not sure about this) Obama loses then the media can write only the following ways:

2.  Angry people:  See 1.

3.  Socialism doesn't work:  Not gonna happen.  That means the whole house of cards folds.

80 Now, here me out. The only reason, only reason, why the liberals "might" turn on Obama is if they see a big defeat coming in November. Then you will see two divergent paths, moderates blaming lack of leadership, while progressives claim he was not "progressive" enough or too moderate. The save face strategy often involves throwing your guy under the bus. That being said, I doubt it will happen but one can dream.

No, but it could happen. Everyone on the LSM is going to keep their jobs regardless of who's elected. In this lousy economy, Alex Wagner, a total idiot, just got her own show on CNN. Melissa Harris-Perry has one now, too.

I detect that a few of them are mad about being backstabbed by Obama (list of broken lefty promises) and want to flex their talons. It's more fun to threaten someone who actually has power than to poke the Koch brothers.

Only of course when Romney is a fait accompli and there's nothing else to be done. They'll want to salvage what credibility they think they have left. They always turn on each other in the final moments of death. Pointing fingers, finally vetting the human freak. What they'll come up with on him in the following years should be interesting. "Oh look! I had this video of him eating live puppies wearing an SS uniform in my sock drawer all these years!  Who knew?"

For those who remember, they turned on Jimmy in the final hours too - not that they ever let up on Reagan.

The press will turn on Obama when they finally realize the extent of the landslide the democrats are facing in the fall.  Once they accept the fact, they will try to have him back out of the race to be replaced by an acclamation vote at the convention for Hillary.

Obama doesnÂ’t want to the black Jimmy Carter, so he will take the campaign funds for a run in the future.  HeÂ’ll rationalize dropping out by saying that the country was just not ready for a black president and that until republicans are less racist, nothing can be accomplished.

Democrats will applaud the move, knowing itÂ’s the only way to have a shot at retaining the presidency and save a few downticket seats.

Oh, if they think that he will lose, they will turn on him in a heartbeat. You could see that in Virginia in 09. The WaPost was all up in Creigh Deeds and attacking McDonnell well into late October. 156 Ace, the press is not packed with suicide bombers. They're self-interested enough that they won't bind themselves to an obvious loser. There's no point in doing that, and it will exclude them from access to a new Whitehouse. Sure, they're all socialists, but they don't want to spend 4 years without access. They're careers depend on it. I saw precisely this happen in Jimmy Carter's last three months before the election. At a certain point the press attacks against Reagan trailed off. Also the press got pretty skeptical of the Carter proxies... like the way the press treated Gingrich once it was obvious he had no chance. They're attack dogs. It will be fitting if attack dogs do in the Dog-Eater-In-Chief.

188 So, if the press blows the other way and goes against the Obarky tide, is this one of the signs of the Apocalypse? Or, similar to almanac signs of a hard winter with hairy caterpillars and squirrels gathering their nuts? Or, more likely, a sign they do not think Obummer will win and are jumping ship to be on the starboard side? Amen and sing hallelujah! Certainly his dissing of the press and Jay the Carney are not helping the cause, ticking off the WH press corpse. Loving it.

Regarding Republicans having a better sense of humor...I think this is true, and you better not talk about the jug-eared jackass. It is a general rule that narcissist kings, emperors nor dictators do not like being mocked. And I hope the media mocks him constantly until January 20, 2013 and whips him into a foaming fury as he goes off teleprompter [Barry, stay calm. Nirvana. Deep breaths. You are awesome and have great tidings for the dumb masses. They love you. You are articulate and brilliant and are The Won. Stay focused, you ninnyhammer...I repeat...do not go off script, you SCOAMF!]

243 I think the ultimate test of how far in the tank and crazy the media has become is how they didn't turn on John Kerry after his 2008 loss. By all rights they should have tore him apart as a horrible candidate, and idiot, out of touch, a wooden plank with stupid dated ideas, and a loser.
I predicted they would. They didn't - and it proves how nuts they've gotten. To do so would hurt their cause, they fear. They will not, will not turn on Obama, ever. No matter what.

247 If the MBM turns on Obama (not convinced yet.,.....but I am open minded to the idea) it will be along these lines..........that Obama is tone deaf/too smart/too practical/some other human flaw and, therefore, must go before he does any real damage to the cause (which can not be wrong). Posted by: Mallamutt, RINO President for Life at April 26, 2012 03:27 PM (OWjjx) I see it as more of a thousand cuts type of strategy. snark here and there, a nick here, a nick there so no one is responsible, no particular thing is responsible and obama is seen as responsible.

249 #158   Absolutely right!  I remember Carter's term very well,  and as a serious news junky without the internet yet being invented I watched Today,  noon news,  evening,  11PM,  and the Hostage Crisis Day XXX show,  which eventually became Nightline.

There was a point,  and I think it was around the middle of summer when it became obvious that Carter's big foreign policy move was boycotting the Olympics,  that they threw in the towel.  I think the press was sick of him personally,  as well.

Interestingly,  Romney has been pretty nice to his press crew that has followed him.   Obama likes to spend his time putting the press down.  I am sure all of those White House reporters thought they were going to get all sorts of access,  and it has been just the opposite.

I think they will turn about July or August,  sooner if there is some sort of major demonstration of Obama incompetence.  The "crucify environmental offenders" tape which came out today isn't going to help Obama,  that's for sure.

At some point it has to dawn on these people that if you line up all of the leftists in the White House and Congress on one side of Pennsylvania Avenue,  and on the other side put the Republicans along with Romney,  there just is a marked difference in attractiveness,  pleasant demeanor,  and sense of humor,  and the GOP wins that contest.

The missteps, the tin-eared abject stupidity of their recent moves, has actually caught me off guard a little.   I think Obama is finished. Republicans are inside the Dems OODA loop because that's the way the Dems made it, not because the Repubs have come back to life or gotten more ruthless and smart or anything.  It's just that the Dems are giving everything away.

The press will not turn on Obama though. Never.  Be prepared for the Tragic Narrative of how a conspiracy of YT and capitalists and the evil conservatives sabotaged his presidency and tricked the public into voting him out.  Long after mobs have stopped beating caucasians for Trayvon, they will still be beating them for Obama.

Twitter.  Twitter is a killer for Democrats.  They're so used to simply saying things and getting applause that Twitter allows them to be mocked outside of their echo chamber.  And conservatives (especially the South Park/Breitbart generations) are really good at snark and liberals do not take it well.

259 The fallacy starting point of many people is that the media is an independent entity that just happens to favor one side over the other and that at some point their journalistic responsibility and integrity will kick in and they will suddenly do their job.

They ARE the other side.

The kids that have gone  into 'journalism' in recent decades are the most dedicated and strident of a strongly left leaning liberal arts community and view their mission as evangelizing for a statist, nihilist society.("change the world ,make a difference")

264 nuh-uh, they can't turn against Barky. If things get bad enough for the guy, expect the media to start in with Romney (asking him how he will not let his religious beliefs get mixed into policy, etc), and promoting the idea that Pres Romney really needs lots of Dems in the House and Senate in order to keep the more extreme Repubs from pushing Romney away from the sensible middle.
You'll still have Krugman and others saying that Obama/Reid/Pelosi failed to go far enough (like with the stimulus) while others blame Repubs for blocking much needed action (like cap & trade, think of all the good that would be happening if the Repubs didn't block Obamacare for all those months). Only after Barky loses will some in the media say what FOX mgmt said after Chevy Chase's horrible late night show years ago: we went with the best candidate, he just failed to live up to his promise (yeah, they really said that.)

265 Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.

266 I told him we were going to have arugula for an appetizer and then grilled dog for the main course with an ice cream cone for dessert.
He hung up on me.

I guess he's lactose intolerant, eh, momma? That's as bad as racism IMHO.

268 Like the President doesn't Fallon's show also hate woman? Or is it specifically (R) Women like when Bachmann was on?

269 The press will not over correct. But if Obama is going to lose, they will jump on the Mitt bandwagon to preserve their "credibility."
