He's a monster, for one thing. He's also an idiot ("the statute of limitations" has passed? No, double jeopardy has attached. Murder has no statute of limitations).

He presumably needs attention and money but mostly money.

Ask Kaelin today, this very minute, if O.J. Â— currently jailed in Vegas on a separate charge Â— killed his wife, and I repeat his exact words:
Â“The statute of limitations has now passed . . . so I can now say . . . yes, he did it.Â”
Why didnÂ’t he come forward and tell the truth? Ask why he let O.J. Simpson get away with murder, and I repeat his exact words:

37 Not in defense of OJ Simpson, but his lawyer did not win the case. Judge Ito ran a zoo, not a courtroom, and the prosecution were incompetents. The police didn't even keep track of chain of custody for things! While yes, from a bird's eye view, it is clear that Simpson did it, in the courtroom, on the jury? Without having all the information we do? I could see them saying the prosecution didn't prove their case.

This is why prosecutors shouldn't screw up, because they did.

I disagree Matt S. Not that the prosecutors were incompetent but that in spite of their incompetence, they still proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt. The evidence was clear and convincing except to the jurors who wanted jury nullification because Furman said the n word some time in his life.

In Vincent Bugliosi's book Outrage, he describes Kaelin's testimony as very damaging to Simpson, and says that he "stood up to Simpson big-time" when Simpson tried to get him to provide alibi testimony. The more significant thing...about the whole OJ Trial debacle...was that it added even more power to the Race Card.

The term 'Jury Nullification' was added to our vernacular.

What else was going on in 1995...that we should take note of?

Barky was suing Citibank, in Chicago.

On behalf of ACORN...he was suing Citibank, to force them to make Subprime Loans, to people who couldn't pay them back.

Barky was a Civil Rights attorney.

He was not an expert on Banking Law.

The Citibank shakedown...was done in much the same fashion as those done by Jesse Jackson.

But the insidious thing, about the Citibank shakedown...was that it sent out the message to other Banks:

"Make loans to poor people with bad credit...or We will sue you into oblivion!"

It worked.

The message went out...and created shockwaves in the Lending Industry.

That message was in keeping with the message from the OJ Trial...

"The Rules Don't Apply To Black People. You're Racist If You Try To Apply Them."

And so...here we are today, with a President who embodies this message.

I think in the more damning cases, perjury would be just one potential charge. As has been noted above, in a situation like this -- where Kato's perjury could very well have allowed a guilty man to walk free -- other charges may be in the offing, too. For example, Accessory After the Fact, or even Accomplice or Co-Conspirator charges if the perjurer turns out to have been actively involved in thh crime as well as the cover-up. I guess it could be a sliding scale of severity based on how much importance the perjurer's testimony had in the final decision by the jury, the perjurer's reasons for perjuring themselves, and the ensuing fallout from the verdict.

But I'm just yanking this out of thin air since I'm not a legal beagle.

It all depends on if there's a prosecutor who's willing to take it up and if there's a hard-nosed judge willing to reassert the court's authority and prestige. There's always the possibility that the court would use this to eliminate perjorous testimony to take another run at the accused. Politics, money, and media play all factor in.

If the State had employed seasoned prosecutors instead of the politically correct white woman/black man team, the OJ defense "dream team" wouldn't have been able to play the race card, and the whole trial would have take at best a few weeks.

That's even assuming there WAS a trial, because apparently OJ made some highly incriminating statements to the police after his apprehension explaining how he "accidentally" cut his hands, and then bled all over his car, his apt, etc, and due to prosecutor screwup, these statements were never admitted into evidence.

190 At the time of these murders, I had just left for a two week sailing trip. The first I learned of the whole OJ spectacle was about two weeks afterwards, when I got back into a US airport. Everyone was on the TV talking matter of factly about OJ Simpson having decapitating people and leading police on televised car chase. Like it was common knowledge and old news.

It was intensely discombobulating to have that sort of sudden shift in popular culture. It felt like I was transported into some bizarro dimension.
