Gun Sales Hinge On Obama Victory
As Cabela's prepares the selection of guns it will sell for the holiday season and winter hunting, the outdoor-gear retailer has two plans: one if President Barack Obama is re-elected, and one if he isn't.The Sidney, Neb.-based retailer and other companies in the guns-and-ammo business say if Mr. Obama wins a second term they are preparing for a surge in sales—the same as they saw after he was elected in 2008—from buyers fearful the president would back policies to make buying a gun more difficult.
Peter Schiff on QE 3
Variously called Operation Twist, Quantitative Easing 3, and (by Schiff) Operation Screw, the new Fed plan to buy $40 billion worth of high-risk debt at low interest rates each month until morale improves is, Schiff says, the kind of thing that should make Bernanke a figure of fun for all Americans.
Judge Throws Out Governor Walker's Union Bargaining Law
So they want to have this fight again, huh? I think this is a sign of desperation. They're clearly worried that Wisconsin is in play this November and they're doing what they can to rally their troops (read:unions) for GOTV efforts.
I'm sure having this on TV during the run up to the election can only help our cause.
*I know this was covered, but I typed this up before that happened and I'm too lazy to take it out. Consider it a pre-contexualization(not a word) that you didn't get to see until now.

Sure, the Middle East Is On Fire, But Everything Is Hunky-Dory In Asia....Right?
I think we can all agree that this has nothing to do with foreign powers taking advantage of perceived American weakness.
The Japanese government and coast guard said six Chinese surveillance ships entered Japanese waters Friday near disputed islands in the East China Sea, adding to tensions between the Asian giants. It was the first intrusion by Chinese vessels into what Japan says are its waters since Tokyo bought the islands from their private Japanese owners this week. The islands, claimed by both countries and called Senkaku by Japan and Diaoyu by China, are surrounding by rich fishing grounds and are near key shipping lanes.

Also perDrewM, we all know what this means.
Mitt Romney Leads In Category Of People Who Have A Vested Interest In America's Future
Married registered voters prefer Republican challenger Mitt Romney over Democratic President Barack Obama by 54% to 39%, according to Gallup data collected from June to August. On the other hand, nonmarried voters break strongly for the president over Romney, 56% to 35%.
Trailer Released For New Lincoln Movie
I love Daniel Day-Lewis. I think he's a fantastic actor and I've enjoyed every film he's been in, however I'm not too optimistic after watching this trailer.
A great comment on the trailer at Filmdrunk, "Jessolido: Montage where he tries on a bunch of different hats before settling on the stovepipe or GTFO."

Here’s Jennifer Granholm like you’ve never seen her. The former Michigan governor and current liberal talkshow host, who gave the single most-fiery speech at the Democratic convention, was a contestant on “The Dating Game” in 1978. The Detroit Free Press found video via YouTube on Facebook and wrote about it Thursday.
In the episode, GranholmÂ’s present-day business suit and controlled hairdo are replaced on her 19-year-old self by shoulder pads, suspenders and an enormous set of curls.

Caroline glick reports that the US led Sinai Observation force was attacked today. Protein Wisdom also has a report.
Israel media - Channel 2 – just reported that the US-commanded Multi-National Force Observors headquarters in the Sinai is under assault. Salafists laid seige to the building this afternoon and some 50 armed men stormed it. There is fighting going on in the building and there are dead inside. The MFO is the force that was established under the Israel-Egypt peace treaty. It is charged with guaranteeing the demilitarization of the Sinai.

Meanwhile, in the Golden State:
At 12.01 a.m. Saturday, when a new California law takes effect, out-of-state online retailers like Amazon.com will start including the tax on your invoice, whether you like it or not. And many, it seems, do not.
The Board of Equalization, which is charged with implementing the law, has sent out notices to approximately 200 out-of-state businesses, and requires all that are subject to the law to register with the state. Dozens of auditors, attorneys and tax specialists have been hired to assist in enforcement.
Sticky fingered government is always a growth industry.

I hear it brings good luck, or at the very least sends me plummeting into the center of the earth onto a land where grass is made of chocolate, the rivers flow with beer and all the women look like Jessica Alba or Christina Hendricks (need some variety after all). He didn't load the magazine with a stripper clip. Rimmed cartridges are tricky in a box magazine. US Krag rifles had a similar problem if you weren't careful to not keep the rim of the cartridge you just loaded in the correct place behind the next round to load.
Mosin-Nagants have an odd lever over the rear of the magazine to prevent this.

The US is a signatory to the 1979 treaty. If Egypt gets squirrelly in the Sinai, They can overrun our monitoring force. But the force was in place to be a trip wire.
The trip wire is supposed to result in a US response. Unfortunately with Obama and Clinton it would likely be a stern letter protesting the deaths of US servicemen.
...And the MFM will blame the US servicemens deaths on Romney being a Mormon.

I'm actually going to visit the national parks, namely Mt St Helen and Mt Hood, then contemplate whether I should toss myself into one of them. I hear it brings good luck, or at the very least sends me plummeting into the center of the earth onto a land where grass is made of chocolate, the rivers flow with beer and all the women look like Jessica Alba or Christina Hendricks (need some variety after all). And I'm the only guy.
They subsequently make me their king and the entire population of Jessica Alba and Christina Hendricks look-alikes would become my wives. Eternal bliss ensues.
A perfectly realistic scenario if you ask me.

I read this interesting book called "Without Warning". It's a fictional book about a world in which the people of America just disappear. Everyone from the east coast up to the West. Only Seattle survives in the mainland.
Anyway, the world flips it's shit and the Middle Eastern countries prepare war on Israel. So the Israeli's strike first.
They drop a bunker busting nuke on the High Aswan damn, so not only is there a flood going to overrun about 80% of the Egyptian population living along the river, but the nuke flash boils the water. So it's a flood of boiling water.

Dear Morons,
I'd like you to check out the following two developments and tell me why my conclusion regarding the future of a Republican Party are wrong:
1. Gallup:
Married registered voters prefer Republican challenger Mitt Romney over Democratic President Barack Obama by 54% to 39%, according to Gallup data collected from June to August. On the other hand, nonmarried voters break strongly for the president over Romney, 56% to 35%. Marriage is a significant predictor of presidential vote choice even after income, age, race, gender, education, religiosity, region, and having minor children are statistically controlled for.[/i]
2. Reason.com on why Obama could win:
The third possible explanation is one
I hope is not true, but that lurks as a fear in the minds of many of those
dismayed by the polls. That is that the “takers” have started to outnumber, and
outvote, the “makers.” Add together the 46.7 million Americans on food stamps,
the 8.7 million Americans receiving Pell Grants, the 7.6 million unionized
government employees, and weigh them against the top 5% of income earners, the
roughly 7 million taxpayers making more than about $154,000 a year, who earn
about 32% of the adjusted gross income and pay about 59% of the nationÂ’s
individual income taxes. We have all kinds of systems and laws in America for
protecting the rights of unpopular minorities, but no one has quite figured out
how to prevent an election from devolving into “four wolves and a lamb voting
on what to have for lunch.”[/i]
A lot of conservatives *yawn* when the subject of declining marriage rates come up, they figure itÂ’s one of them social issues, has nothing to do with winning elections. But in a Makers v. Takers electorate, those are our people.
Less marriage = more Takers. More out-of-wedlock births = more Takers. More Takers = bye bye GOP.
Time to start talking about this, openly. For tactical reasons. We cannot win elections if this trend continues unchallenged. Can. Not. Win.
Tell me I'm wrong.

I lurk, you are about to get a barrage of advice from people that don't share the same characteristics as you. It's well-meaning, but ignore it. Go to a gun show and put your hands on anything that catches your eye, and figure out what feels good. Then find a local range or dealer that rents that model, or models, if you have more than one, and shoot it. If you have a gunny friend, take them with during the process to help you, but don't let them steer you. It's going to be your gun, so make sure it's your decision.

Scary thought with everything happening.
Steven Den Beste said the US military may be designed to fight 1-1/2 wars simultaneously, but it can fight ten wars simultaneously. But 9 of the 10 will be nuclear.
If this spins out of control in Egypt, Israel and Iran along with China and Japan; and the Islamic riots, killings and possible hostage situations, someone who is over his head may panic and reach for the strategic weapons.
Not because he is dealing with a problem that needs nukes, but because he is overwhelmed and scared his image is being threatened. I have not had this much worry about a nuclear war since Carter was president. And I remember it well, because my Mom and Dad were both in traction and later recovering at home from a car accident.

Oh. Wait. Romney stocked his campaign management staff with McCain '08 retreads.
Seems to be working about as well as one would expect. MBA managerial genius on display.
On the brighter side, in the checkout line, I heard some twentysomethings who very likely had been out pounding the pavement for Barky in 2008. They were bemoaning their student debt and lack of jobs.
Does that mean they're going to vote against Barky? Of course not! That would be RACIST. They'll support him faithfully.
So that part isn't the brighter side. The brighter side is that I am imagining to myself how amazingly miserable these kids are going to be at the end of another four years of Barky. Waiter, can I have a heaping helping of schadenfreude on the side?

Indeed. The Sinai is worthless and essentially uninhabitable. The Suez is all that matters.
Although, the more I think about it, the less I think it will ever be closed. If there were ever one thing that would bring every nation together, it would be preventing the closure of the Suez canal.

I've been watching them carefully, particularly the D/I/R breakdown and they've been fast and loose with that. Most of them are showing Romney up among independents.
Not only will D's not show up in as much force as in 2008 (I think after the Embassy Crisis they will be in less force than in 2010) a lot of self-identified D's are now I's and a lot of I's are now R's.
Ras went from O+4 to O+1 to R+1 to R+3 in 4 days (3-day rolling average).
Rasmussen never does this. Gallup has the wild swings that make no sense, not Ras. Plus, Ras is the only pollster getting the post-embassy results.
I believe the media made a big mistake attacking Romney rather than ignoring him. They've ensured that people paying attention to the election are paying attention to the embassy story. They've tied that to the election and the longer it goes on, the worse it is for Obama.
It will get worse. When the polls really slip for Obama, we will see the media really panic and try to "help" him. He will try to stay on message and they won't let him. They'll think they know better than he does. It's part of the reason they want the polls to show him winning.
But again, they do themselves a disservice. When Obama does slip, it will be a true cascade. They've artificially kept the dam up. Maybe they knew how vulnerable he is. But they've guaranteed that the whole dam will burst just in time for the election.

One of the networks will want to get a jump on the others.. they will come out with how out Dept of State fucked up badly.. it may be CNN.. or maybe CBS.. but they will get an "exclusive" they can't pass up.. even if it means throwing the JEF under the bus.

Moki, his school year so far has been very frustrating as far as I am concerned, though he seems to be OK with it. If it is not one thing it is another. The latest this week included finding out that our fifth graders are all in one math class, 40 of them, and that there isn't room for desks so they are sitting on the floor. Despite the fact that there are enough teachers and rooms for them to be split into two classes and have two teachers. It is an "experiment" they are trying.
I wanted to call the school district and say "wow, I didn't realize the district was so lacking in funds that our kids have to sit on the floor. Should I organize a bake sale for chairs, or have my kid carry one from home, like they do in China?"

We're not going to be able to convince single voters to vote GOP in numbers that make a difference. Not a chance. That's why liberals have made sure so many voters are now - unlike the past - single. By winning the culture war, they've put us behind the 8 ball in the political war.

Let me give you some numbers from the NYT/CBS poll.
Theirs was a RV/LV poll.
Total #of RV: 1301
Total #of LV: 1170
Is that likely? That a likely voter screen gives that 89% of RVs are LVs? That high? Maybe. Let's look further.
RV: Obama 48 Romney 42
LV: Obama 46 Romney 45
What? So what got reported? The RV numbers, naturally.
Party breakdown:
RV: 35/36/22 D/I/R
LV: 35/32/29 D/I/R (D+6) (I don't know where the other 4% went)
The 2008 breakdown was 39/29/32. That's 2008, a huge high water mark and that's the breakdown NYT/CBS has for LVs. (D+7)
And this is NYT/CBS, not Rasmussen.
It's not easy. Lots of people voted for Obama who should have known better and they still are psychologically tied to him. Romney is a new guy who isn't perfectly charismatic. But the polls are showing a very good trend.
And this is all before the embassy crisis. The media is pushing hard on Romney because they know (from the Carter days) how horrible this is for Obama.

But the big story of the day was Lehman Brothers filing for bankruptcy and what that would mean for the economy. This is the point in 2008 that the SCOAMF started to move into the lead, and McCain started grasping for straws.
This week may be Obama's Lehman Brothers. Bush was getting hammered for Iraq and Afghanistan for years, similar to Obama on the economy, but it could only get him so far. Once a crisis hit, the people paniced and decided to go with the cipher that made some good speeches. Now, he is fucking up, and this latest episode will just magnify it.

Mine died 28 years ago and still walks with me inside my ear when I need him. I hope to join his club one day is mine. I am pretty sure one day my son will find the right girl and romer room up and ideally give me 4-14 grandkids.
I wanted 4, I got mocked for it when Akingate blew but my life was centered around wanting a family to do right by and give better than mom gave me. May not be what kept me alive, but probably is what kept me sane inasmuch as I am. The Anglic race will only die out if we let it, and I do not believe my political beliefs are tied up in my wrapper's tint.
I am not accusing you of feeling such either CJ. In a sane world I've romper roomed enough (not bragging sincerely) and my wife and I have siffered enough miscarriages that I should have probably had 6-8 kids. Tell your kids/nieces/nephews have babies goddamnit!
Heh.
I am worried but not horribly so demographics are seldom set in stone. A good war and we'll zoom right up or breed into a new hybrid. A tiny sliver of my blood came from a Lakota woman several decades back.
The Karankawa died out the Lakota and Dakota march on.
I believe in people and I believe in us.

I'm just watched an old episode of Monk. Here is the premise. A woman murdered a guy and decided to dump his weighted body in the ocean by dropping him from a balloon. It was a Firefly with a 4.9 basket. She puts the body in the basket along with the weights, stands the balloon up, gets out of the balloon and runs back to the house for something she forgot. Monk and his assistant Natali get in the balloon basket at which time the murderess returns. They get away by throwing out the weights. Somebody, I don't know who hits the blast valve and the system starts to go up. The murderess takes a couple pot shots at the envelope which immediately causes the balloon to decend. The system is draging on the ground and the body d\bounces out of the basket. Balloon continues to drag. Natali then bounces out. System still drags. The system goes over a cliff and Monk manages to grasp a root. A leper reaches for him and shouts Take my hand. Monk has to think hard about the offer. How does Hollywood get away with this crap?
Posted by: Ohio Dan at September 14, 2012 07:41 PM (JKNDp)
Let us count the errors. Balloons that fly out to the ocean usually sink in the ocean, Balloons don't sit on the ground un attended very well for long. A couple tiny holes from a pistol shot in an envelope won't cause it to lose altitute. losing 450 lbs. of ballast from your basket might just make it go back up. DERP!

Had to decrease the dose last week, because he was way too drugged up.... That's the downside to the stuff. With a national security crisis, there is a natural tendency for people to rally around the current leadership.
You know and I know that Obama is a SCOAMF, but remember, we're talking about low-information voters here. In other words, clueless idiots. They can be stampeded in the desired direction.
Posted by: rickl at September 14, 2012 11:42 PM (sdi6R)
Depends on the security crisis. People will rally around the flag, not the President. Bush got the bump in popularity after 9-11, but it didn't translate to the GOP since they lost Virginia and New Jersey in gubernatorial races. Iran hostage crisis sure as hell didn't help Jimmy Carter.
Low information voters will see Americans dieing, and the SCOAMF partying with Beyonce and Jay Z. It won't translate well.

That may work. Their own facination with abortion limits their ability to breed.
Education may be a more important target here. Socialist have been targeting schools since the end of WWII, when they finally figured out that they were not going to get worker unrest in modern well run countries.
Communists in educational establishments are their last form of recruitment, other than race baiters on their welfare mendicant voter plantations.
Clean them out of the schools and universities, and we probably can reverse this. Once the educated class no longer thinks socialism is a good idea, we can roll back welfare and take away the bait from the democrats plantations.

This whole thing reminds me of 2008. Russians invade Georgia, McCain releases statement criticizing the invasion. Obama releases a statement criticizing McCain's, while being ineffectual. The media gushes about Obama's, then the next day, Obama releases a statement clarifying his remarks from the previous day. Media slobbers on that statement while still attacking McCain's. Then the next day, Obama releases a clarification of his clarification of his statement. Media goes full on blow job of the statement. Then the next day, yep, another Obama statement clarifying his statements, which then becomes the identical one that McCain released 4 days earlier.
This jackass says whatever he thinks people want to hear that day, not what needs to be said. He wants to do the easy thing, not the hard thing.

Actually as Muslims go, the Croats and assorted other local Muslims are really moderate. They really are the 'moderate Muslim' you keep reading about. They don't care what you believe, because that's between you and God, they keep it to themselves, for the most part.
Granted, they are in an 'us vs them' mindset with other Muslims, but they aren't the kind to blow people up.
That war was all ethnic and historical, not religious. The Muslims were fighting not for religious dominance or Jihad, but because of 2000 year old grudges.

I do, mostly to make it last longer. It is pretty salty, so does keep for a while. Depends what kind, also. Yellow bean sauce, I would. Hot bean sauce will last for a while out, but I refrigerate it anyway. In the fridge it will last many months. Out, some number of weeks, I suppose, or until you can see mold on it. I'll admit I'm extra-cautious about this. It would not surprise me at all if the locals don't refrigerate it at all. But they probably use it up faster, too.

Croats are Catholics, not Muslims. I am talking about the Serbs vs. Bosnians and then later the Albanian. Spare me they are Moderate Muslims. They are Muslims and deserved the ass beating the Serbians were giving them. Bosnians are Turncoats that sold their souls to the Turks. Same goes for Albanian.
It is a documented fact many Islamic terror groups were operating against Serbia. They had every right to crush them. That conflict was not our business.

It's great stuff, really, a semi-fermented explosion of flavor, when used in the right dishes. If you don't cook Chinese, try just a little bit of yellow bean sauce (Koon Choon is a good brand, and very widely available; I think they just call it "bean sauce") in a bean soup (the kind where you cook dried beans with a ham hock for a long time). Really perks it up.

The people there are pretty calm Muslims, seriously. Not everyone who is a Muslim is a psychotic screaming murderer. There were terror groups active there, but then... there are in the United States, too. That doesn't make the US a terrorist state.

You'd think. I've been going around all week in a daze, knowing we are basically at war, and that the administration is in some kind of total denial, with the collusion of much of the media, and I just do not understand it at all.
Part of it is that it was too much going on, too fast. I think it'll take another couple of weeks to sort it out. Once that happens, I can't imagine that Obama will come out of it with a pleasant smell.

Meh, the press protects him and keeps the polls from showing the damage, but he's suffering big time.
Obama's favorability rating alone has plummeted since he was elected, he's nowhere near as popular as he was. Want a test? Go look at non political sites like IziSmile and compare what the pictures and comments were like in 2009 vs now. They were all glowing and full of praise then. Now they rip on him constantly.
He's taking damage, you just have to blow off the legacy media. There's a reason they are dying as a business.

Yeah, They backed guys who would help them defeat their hated ethnic enemies. The Irish backed both Napoleon and Hitler, just to get the English off their backs. That didn't make them French or Germans.
Its important to be able to distinguish between good and bad guys. Not every Muslim is our enemy.

I was Corporate Controller of a company here in Silicon Valley where the shop floor was roughly 1/3 Hispanic, 1/3 Vietnamese, and 1/3 Bosnian (something about the first three assemblers having those nationalities, and continuing to hire by asking the existing workforce, "do you know anyone looking for work?"). This was, BTW, a source of endless amusement in so many ways -- when a Vietnamese worker would drop a robot on his foot, he'd swear in Bosnian.....evidently, it's a far superior language for letting off steam.....while interpersonal grudges between Bosnians would be handled in Spanish, as it excels in describing the lying goat-fucking whore your enemy would be if he'd sober up.
The Europeans should never have let Yugoslavia go bad as much as it did. It should never have been left to the US to clean up. BUT.....it shouldn't be downplayed. There were ongoing atrocities before and after Srebenica and it was obvious that no central core was working to stop them -- only pretenders trying to hide mayhem behind Westphalian forms and procedures. It's one thing to have lawless areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan -- it's quite another to have them 175 miles from Venice.

Here's a liver story: I had a childhood friend whose never-do-well uncle moved in with them when he lost his job. He said he was looking for work, but the family would find him sleeping on the sofa when they came home from school or work in the afternoon. Finally, they had enough. Everyone in that family, except for the lazy uncle, liked liver. The mother cooked liver and onions for dinner for a solid week. The first few nights, lazy uncle tried to gag it down. Finally, he said "Mary, you've had liver for dinner for a week now and you know I hate liver. Can't we have something else?" My friend's dad put his knife and fork down and said, very calmly, "Phil, we love liver in this house. We love it so damned much we're going to have it for dinner every single night from now on. And if you don't like it, well, go get a goddamned job and then you can eat whatever you want for dinner."
Phil got a job within a couple of days. That's a motivation that would certainly work for me, as well.

I think we could easily have a nice debate over "which was more useless, the Europeans or the UN?" The problem is that both were dithering as events neared the precipice. We could have seen another Great European War start in the Balkans, or bombed some Serbs -- and elected to bomb the Serbs, seeing how the last couple of Great European Wars ended up costing us so damned much.

Not really, I have no problem actually getting to sleep or getting into REM.
Apparently DaVinci was a proponent of multiple naps/day. There's actually a proper recognized term for it -- polyphasic sleep. It seems to be quite common in the animal world.
http://www.sleep.com/content/polyphasic-sleep
I think humans likely adopted their traditional monophasic sleep cycles more as tool for organized social interactions and combined labor efforts than any particular physiological need. Humans tend to pay more attention to clocks and coordinating events/efforts than the animal kingdom does.

Sounds right. What about self preservation, though? Our night vision is rather poor. Back in the day before theme park dinosaurs, humans wouldn't have much to do at night besides die. The advent of fire would've helped to change things, but, originally the monkey men might have been active during daylight only, then holed up somewhere all night. Just a thought?

I think SC will give them trouble this year. They are at #8 but they are playing UAB today so if they both win there will be no change.

On religion I would state that atheism was to be given no more preference than any other religion and I openly state that Islam is a political philosophy and not a religion.

It always seemed to me that the Founders packed way too much important stuff into the First Amendment. Each aspect was deserving of a separate Amendment.

Agree, but they had dealt with the Crown's lawyers, so arbitrary BS interpretations shouldn't have been new to them.

Looking forward to Vic's news so I can get my morning rant going.
Also, if Vic doesn't have it there is an excellent Liz Cheney column for which I will provide the link.

In the United States of America.
This is the work of Osama Obama and the America-hating liberal goons, and must be stopped.
The fact that this traitor was elected, and that his policies have been allowed to flourish without major protest or Congressional action is a testament to the monumental stupidity of the American people.
Does any rational person believe dissing the Anointed One's preferred religion will remain the only factor that trumps the Constitution? Not bloody likely.
We are losing the best nation on Earth. Hell, we may already have lost it.

Of course, if China tries to take advantage of the storm, I won't exactly be shocked...

When I told him that now he supported kicking in peoples doors and arresting them, taking their children for political opinions and religious beliefs he couldn't see it. So fantastically brainwashed at this point he can't see who these people are.

It will be openly directed against Israel and the Jews, but it's actual target is rising Turkish Power. Turkey is more than a match for Iran and Egypt put together, and the Egyptians and the Iranians both know this. If Iran goes nuclear in an open fashion, the Turks will have the Bomb within a year.
Bet on this.
