Lisa Murkowski: "It Makes No Sense To Make This Attack on Women!"
— Ace

Of all the losses in 2010, I'm not sure any hurt as much as this one.

"It makes no sense to make this attack on women," she said at a local Chamber of Commerce luncheon, according to the Homer News. "If you don't feel this is an attack, you need to go home and talk to your wife and your daughters."

She also said that she would continue to support funding for Planned Parenthood, adding that the courts have affirmed a legal right to an abortion and she stands by that.

59 2 reasons the left loves abortion. 1) Every professional leftist woman has had a least one abortion because she didn't want to be "mommy tracked." This is part of the reason the initial hatred of Sarah Palin was so animalistic. She had 5 f'in kids and was still governor. That goes against The Narrative and causes icky feelings of guilt, thus she must be destroyed. More to the point though, they have to make abortion as wide spread as.possible so that its "normal" and they can keep on.pretending that they aren't monsters. 2) Leftists really freaking love them some eugenics.

Yesterday I proposed to a lib friend that Planned Parenthood could solve many of their own problems by spinning off the Abortion side of things (I suggested calling it the "Sanger Foundation.")  and building a firewall between that and the rest of what they do. If they really cared.

His answer: "You're hypothetical Sanger Foundation wouldn't be able to survive."  My response: "You just proved our tax dollars fund, albeit indirectly, abortions, which kinda proves my point."  He was simply speechless, and decided that conversation was over.

I think Miller did start talking a bit too much truthiness on how much he was going to cut Alaska's stuff.  But he won the primary and he didn't commit very glaring obvious errors.  But then the scrunt started a new campaign and basically the weak Alaska Democrat party campaigned for her instead of their own token candidate.

She was basically successful with Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose strategy.

107 Friends and fellow Morons, you're not getting this.  Follow my reasoning here.

If you have the right to something, you have the right to expect the Federal government to provide it to you, at no cost to yourself.  For instance, as we all know, you have a right to consult with an attorney, and if you desire one and cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you.  If we've seen more than two hours of prime-time television, you know this.  The theory is, is the government recognizes a particular right, that right is not perfected if economic circumstances deprive you of it.

Similarly, a woman has a right to an abortion; since some women cannot afford to pay for theirs themselves, we're not really giving them that right if we're not paying for its enjoyment.  See how that works.

Now, in the same vein: I have a right to keep and bear arms.  In this current economy, I cannot afford on my own a Sig Sauer P229 DAK, chambered for the .45... therefore...

That, and Michael Steele chose to direct the Republicans to run the campaign against said token candidate instead of for the winner of the primary.

Look, I'm not counting on SCOTUS and I don't have stars in my eyes, but with what evidence, tasker, do you make this assertion?

The only evidence we have is how the WH reacted after the Supremes had their little vote after oral arguments, which suggested that Kagan gave them the news and it wasn't good for them.

Maybe it was a head fake.  Maybe they had no information and were just guessing, who knows?  But I see no evidence that Obamacare will survive SCOTUS and only scant evidence that suggests the opposite.

But I think it is true that if most questions in life are matters of degree, in the insurance and health care world, both markets -- stipulate two markets -- the young person who is uninsured is uniquely proximately very close to affecting the rates of insurance and the costs of providing medical care in a way that is not true in other industries. That's my concern in the case. ****************** That's at the end of oral arguments on Tuesday (iirc) on the constitutionality of the individual mandate. @138,

I wish it were just about the money, at least then you could blame it on simple greed.  But it's sooooo much worse than that.  If you carry Sanger's views forward you basically arrive at the idea that "the poor" would be too stupid/uncontrolled to use Birth Control, leaving Abortion as the only way to ensure "proper population growth."  So it's very much a eugenics type thing. Which is so much worse than pure greed IMHO.

(Stack on top of that this idea that women shouldn't have to choose between Birth control, abstinence, or kids, and you arrive at this as well. The problem with that idea is it basically says "decisions shouldn't have consequences.")

158 @Soona I came to that tragic conclusion along time ago.  Their statist monolith is going to crash.  It spends way over its ability to tax and is destroying its own currency just to by itself another day with no future.  If it cut the spending it needed to save its currency it would collapse from riots.  Its like a cancer on a vital organ where removing it would only kill you sooner.

In the meantime, I have mostly focused on trying:

Hold the line as long as we can.  When government institutions collapse bad juju always rushes into the vacuum.  We take for granted how limited the founders grasp on the country was when they established the Republic.  Even during the revolutionary war huge parts of the country were still with the British.  IMO We best be as prepared and have as many as possible on our side when it happens.

------------------------

You have to go back and follow that election step by step.  Miller only made one screw up that I saw when he attacked his initial backers in a very stupid move.  But that was only temporary.

What won it for MooKow was the perfect storm of (1) Wide open corruption by the AK election officials (2) Support from the Democrats for MooKow as well as the corrupt side of the Republican Party in AK (3) Support from the Republican Senate assholes like Cornyn.

The Democrat voting blocks that pulled her through were the natives who live off of government largess.  I understand they came out in huge numbers.   And contrary to AK law the elections accepted in version of spelling for MooKow on the write in.

And in the end, the frakin RNC welcomed her back into the Senate. And BTW, last year her ACU rating was 50.  She is DIABLO.
