— Ace This means she will be the nominee, up until the point cratering poll numbers suggest she can't win and she withdraws and the Democrats find a friendly judge who will let them switch to one of the Kennedy Half-Wits.
My prognostication failed me. I didn't think she'd take the nomination now; I thought her rival would at least be permitted to contest the nomination, with a vote and all.
But apparently Devall Patrick "passed out the Kool-Aid." As the linked article speculates, Democrats think that unopposed nominations lead to victory, while opposed ones result in losses, so the establishment twisted arms to give Elizabeth Warren an uncontested nomination.
There just seems to be so much cocooning in the Democratic Party.
Elizabeth Warren is going to lose. I know no Democrats believe that, because they think this story is going to go away, and that no one cares.
If no one cares, why is it in the media every day? If it's going to go away, why hasn't it yet?
This story is dangerous because it makes Elizabeth Warren into a punchline.
It's hard to elect a punchline to the Senate. Ask Christine O'Donnell.
Yes, Elizabeth Warren is just as damaged as Christine O'Donnell.

Do you know why Defranco didn't get on the ballot?
Because on Thursday the MA Democrat party sent out an email to delegates warning them not to support Defranco.
They checked ID's before the delegates voted. In other words, they were being watched carefully. There is no way Warren is not going all the way. And she has a damn good chance of winning. Like 52-48 chance.

That's what the MA people are hearing today.

This little gamut particularly pisses me off because the United Way gives money to Planned Parenthood. Our Catholic school had a United Way number and was encouraging the pay check gift (I hate that pay check deduction bullshit--it reeks of the company store and communism). I threw one of my little fits which this time only consisted of saying to the principal and pastor that United Way gave money to Planned Parenthood and did they think that was ok. They paled and jerked the agreement.

The whole thing could have been defused with a few sentence statement when the ripples first started to appear and there would have been little/no damage or blowback.
"My past actions were based on what my parents told me. If that turned out to be unverifiable by people who've spent far more time digging into this triviality than I ever did, then so be it. Can we get back to the serious issues facing the country now?"
Case closed. Instead she doubled down on stupid and made what should have been a couple of day campaign ripple into a major issue.
If Clinton had said:
"Yep, I got a blowjob from Monica, what of it? I'm not proud of that, but it happened.",

1. some ports/nations won't let them dock with them aboard. (even stowed on entry)
2. liability issues
3. Insurance issues
4. The avg. foreign seaman on a merchie won't exactly be thrilled about being in the bulls eye once he lights that gatling gun or 3" 50 off. The pirates can get rocket launchers and aim right for that thing.
Soon it's a weapons race. and the Merchie aren't carrying cargo anymore they're acting as national surrogates.
Good news is they've come up with some anti pirate/boarding preventers that use ONLY high pressure water. (which strangely enough Merchies have plenty of.) Works a treat and no one gets a bullet up the keister. The pirates get wet or drown but so?

Patterico: Audio & Transcripts From the Hearing Where Aaron Walker Was Arrested for Blogging About a Public Figure
This post contains the audio from that hearing.
Listening to the audio, I am struck by how much more respect I have for AaronÂ’s performance, and how much less respect I have for the judgeÂ’s behavior, than I did based on the published reports.
At one point, Aaron cites the seminal U.S. Supreme Court case on inciting violent speech: Brandenburg v. Ohio, a case that absolutely supports Aaron’s position. Judge Vaughey responds: “Forget Bradenburg [sic]. Let’s go by Vaughey right now.”
Wow.
Yesterday, I published a Glenn Reynolds-style request to the “Army of Davids” — asking people to transcribe the most outrageous parts of the hearing.
In this post I will just highlight a few key passages that show a) how rude and dismissive the judge was; b) how dishonest Kimberlin was; and c) most important, that the judge disregarded Supreme Court precedent and found Aaron in violation of a peace order for his public statements about a public figure.
These excerpts also show that the judge issued an order preventing Aaron from blogging about Kimberlin for six months — a clearly unconstitutional prior restraint of speech.
IÂ’ll get to the transcripts in a moment, but I want to say one thing first.
Now that it is clear that Aaron Walker was arrested for blogging about a public figure — and that a judge has imposed unconstitutional restraints on his speech rightsPosted by: momma at June 04, 2012 10:33 AM (sYijI)

Just like Barky....Warren preyed on the Affirmative Action policy to further her career.
Warren lied about her heritage.
Barky lied about his heritage. Future centuries will wonder how America went - in the course of a mere 50 years - from separate water fountains for black people to white blue eyed blonde Scandivanians claiming American Indian ancestry. It really is just too weird for words.

All I can say is that I am in that rare Republican-leaning district where CHris Lee resigned after something about a shirtless photo, and the Republican who ran to try to replace him lost when it came out that her campaign manager had pulled a dirty trick, of sorts, on one of her challengers.
Sometimes the voters actually care if you're being an obvious scumbag - even if it's just some bad actor on your team that's doing it.
But, then again, there IS a double-standard for Democrats. Bill Clinton was a draft dodger who did inappropriate sexual things with a young employee, and he's still hugely popular.

This is a good point. I don't think the Cherokee thing by itself would at all be enough to sink her, but...
...she seems like a terrible candidate when forced out of her comfort zone. In other words, her mistake was bad but the handling of it much worse. She's just awful when playing defense.
Most places she'd be long gone, MA, however, is a different animal. I kind of think she still loses because Brown is a better candidate than she is, but consider that Romney is a former governor, a better candidate than Obama this go round, and won't come with 10 points in MA.

My God. It's hard to believe someone could claim to be a conservative, operate a "conservative" blog for years, and still be so fucking clueless.
Christine O'Donnell was made a laughing stock by the likes of Karl Rove and you and the other Beta Male Dickless Wonders. She didn't help herself, granted, but she was destroyed by the Republican Establishment with help from stupid, spineless bloggers and pundits who can't help going along with the latest attack against a conservative because they don't want to look like a fool in the eyes of people who hate their fucking guts, think they're Evil with a capital E, and want them to die slow, painful deaths. Oh, Heaven forbid a liberal thinks poorly of them!
All this crap about Warren and the Indian thing means nothing to the average liberal. Most of them probably don't know anything about it and those who do don't care. All they care about is that she's not a Republican. The only chance Scott Brown has is that this election is a general and people will already be out voting against Obama, so Brown might win. Maybe. I don't live in Massachusetts anymore but I can tell you that if I did I'd leave it blank. There's no way I'd vote for the guy who voted Yes on Dodd/Frank. Barney Frank. That's all you need to know about Massachusetts elections. Don't compare Warren with O'Donnell when you have Barney Frank.

Glad to see someone else feel the same way.
Yes O'Donnell said some oddball things. Yes she wasn't pick of the litter. But NO she didn't deserve to have the things the Democrats dug up about her echoed by the Republican party and conservatives in the blogosphere.
I'll believe till my dying day that if some folks in blogdom had given her some room, she might have got elected.
I can't be sure as I don't know Delaware that well or other sources that many of those who made fun of her had but still.
They should've let her stand and fall on her own and not piled on.

The reason the Dems railroaded her onto the ballot is simple....
She will simply not survive the summer as their candidate.
Should DeFranco have been in a primary contest with Warren, upon Warren's withdrawal from the race, DeFranco would have been the candidate....
Now, however, upon Warren's withdrawal, the Democrat machine in Mass will be able to appoint whomsoever they choose to replace her on the November ballot......
That could be Deval Patrick or whatever throw-away Kennedy they may have in mind.... Could Tim Cahill come out of the weeds for his payoff for getting Patrick re-elected?
So many possibilities....

C'OD had already failed twice in Delaware, the voters of her state had decided they didn't want to eat the dog food long before Karl Rove came on the scene.
