Longer Clip of Chris Matthews' Meltdown
— Ace

When even your liberal allies Mika and Brokaw are suggesting you get your shit under control, you might have a problem.

Drew had a clip earlier, but it was of a lower quality and shorter.

The man really is frothing. Romney does not thrill his legs.

Since this is a repeat, I'll link the Big News that Charlie Crist will speak at the DNC. And he's hoping to run for governor on the Democratic line in 2014.

Oh, and then this claim that Christie didn't want to be veep because he doubted the ticket could win. Which gets juiced up in the article into some kind of Lock of the Week vow that Romney can't win.

1, of course Christie doubted the ticket will win. Even I doubt that sometimes, and I am way out of front of the polls in predicting a preference cascade.

2, the article suggests, without stating so, that Christie turned down the offer. He was never offered the job. I never thought he would be. Romney really liked Ryan. Whatever Christie's private doubts, they didn't have much impact on Romney, who had independently decided that Ryan was a bold, unifying, likable figure.

30 They're doing their best to sow discord in the conservative ranks, folks, by pitching against one another via this kind of story, Akin, etc. How many times do we have to read that there are GOP strategists dissatisfied with some aspect of the campaign?

Just answer yourself two questions:

1) Who has run a better campaign this far in 2012--Obama or Romney? Although Romney's campaign is not perfect, why are all the stories about how he has to reboot and the wheels have fallen off? Obama is blowing through campaign money like it belonged to the taxpayers. He says incredible gaffes like "you didn't build that" and his staff tweets things like "McCain's business at Bain was not jobs." They run ads so bad even the media has to admit they are lies.

2) Who has the better running mate? Yet again, the media blisters Ryan, whereas if it was Ryan versus Biden, we could call the election today.

As far as Christie, I like him, but Ryan was a far better pick.

Crist....LOL...he works for Morgan & Morgan the biggest slip and fall law group in Florida.  After he lost the 2010 GOP primary and then the race as an Independent he has been miffed.  He joined Morgan & Morgan right after the loss...WHO IS MORGAN & MORGAN...is it run by John Morgan the biggest Obama contributor in Central Florida.  I live here and when Obama comes to Orlando...John Morgan is with him and has fundraisers at his home for Obama.  John Morgan is the kind of creep most people think of when you think slick lawyers.  He runs ads night and day here and it is sue, sue and sue.  Crist appears in ads for the law firm.  Several months ago, Crist announced he wouls be changing to an Independent....however, insiders have stated that it is just a stop on transition to becoming a Democrat.  Crist is not liked here by Dems either since he tried to force Kendrick Meeks from the 2010 Senate Race on the Dem side.  He wanted to be Dem vs Rubio.  Meeks did not leave the race.  Rubio beat them both....Republicans cannot stand Crist!

If Crist runs he will lose in a landslide.  It is funny here in Central Florida no one has covered on TV the Crist endorsement of Obama.  People do not like Crist and he is immensely unpopular.  But Morgan is a money man and Crist will need deep pockets to run!  Hence his tranformation and change!

Just remember as well..Crist when he ran before was PRO-LIFE, PRO-GUN and said he would REPEAL OBAMACARE...now reconcile that with today's DNC???  Boy will he be pegged for the fraud he is!!

I will tell you if you want an endorsement in the State of Florida that would hurt you Crist would be the one....this man everyone knows here is a Benedict Arnold!

Maybe real comedians don't make fun of the disabled, but Obama did on Leno's show when he said that "my bowling looks like the Special Olympics".

Jugears just had to make fun of 1) people who like to go bowling, you know rednecks or hillbillies or the uncool of the world, and 2) the physically and mentally disabled who compete in the Special Olympics.

Jugears is so unsure of himself deep down, that he has to compare himself favorable against those who are profoundly disabled in order to prop up his tiny little inner self.

He should have quickly deflected the joke as racism charge -- it's so easy to do, just say the joke was as much a knock on birthers as Obama -- then go on offense with, "How is it that everything is race to you, Chris? You seem to think welfare equals black people. Have you looked at the numbers? I think your charge of racism in this election may be right ... but it's misdirected. You are the racist." The European charge is equally easy to deflect. "Look, Christ, Europe has a nanny state. That's what Obama wants. He wants to socialize medicine, he wants eternal benefits to all, he champions victims and thrashes doers ... what am I missing here?" Frustrating.

This country was founded on FREE MARKET principles. So yes, this sorry excuse for an executive leader that you shill for 24/7 with your rude and bullying outbursts IS BEING FOREIGN. He believes the hyper-expansion of government into every little facet of our lives is what is needed, and I doubt he gives a damn if he ruins the country in the process. He wants to see the USA as equal to other countries at a table of countries. So yes, you ignorant lush, OBAMA'S POLICIES ARE FOREIGN. 94 67 I think Preibus played it perfectly.  He knew Matthews was discrediting himself, and goaded Matthews in ever greater hysteria with a benign smile.  And in fact Matthews became more hysterical, a couple of times telling Preibus to keep chuckling or keep grinning, when Preibus merely had the benign smile of an indulgent adult.

95 I saw the clip of matthews this morning. I thought reince reacted the only way he could with a smirk and incredulity. What can you say when someone goes full out nuts on you and they are the host. The sad part is that some people, no all libs/dems only watch MSNBC and take what chris says as the gospel truth. The romney campaign needs to somehow remind Chris that he is allegedly a "journalist" and as such he supposed to be "fair and balanced"...otherwise MSNBC had better label any program he hosts as "entertainment".

Here is how you know the line resonated.  They never show a clip  of the line.  They just repeat it,  well the paraphrase it.  The joke wasn't awkwardly delivered  as Scarborough or Brokaw  stated.  It was actually pretty well executed as far as joke telling goes.  It also got a pretty good laugh  -  to be expected from a partisan crowd for sure.   But if the average voter were to see it, they would be going "What's the big deal.  It was kind of funny."

They know this makes  Mitt look a  little more human and less robatic.  Regardless, I would use this joke in a rope a dope strategy.  Pull the media in, let them spin time on such frivolities as Akin and a  joke.  Then really make the pitch to how much in trouble we are in.  How america   needs someone serious.  That  its time for the grown-ups to be put back in charge.

140 This clip shows two things the Republicans know and are going to exploit.  Americans are sick and disgusted with being called racists, and the accusation is at least a huge turnoff if not more to voters.

Obama won using the race card in what looked to many a positive way - - we were going to move beyond race.

He betrayed folks on that.  Many of them now realize he never meant it, and certainly has not fulfilled their expectations in that regard.

Obama's use of race this time looks like the cynical, divisive, infantile, non-serious political poison it is.

155 I heard romney explain his joke somewhere. I remember thinking that he made sense. Matthews did not give reince a chance to explain. But all the MSNBC hosts have adapted that interviewing style. It consists of getting the dem talking points for hosts out but shouting, not soft spoken and the second part is successfully running out the clock so the victim has no time to respond. This might be why microsoft decided to dump them...

Posted by: cynder ella at August 27, 2012 11:34 AM (oZfic)

156 That's not oddly timed, it's being leaked now to simply try to avoid Mormonizing the White House. ----- The problems with Leavitt as transition team leader are political, not religious. --- Too bad, though, since that's going to happen no matter what. "Clannish" and "tribal" are understatements with teh LDS folks. ----- I'm not sure that holds as true for people who are raised away from Utah. In my growing experience, there's a significant difference between folks from around here and those who were raised and/or lived long periods of time away from here. And that has also been what our friends and colleagues who are LDS observe about themselves. The fact of the matter is that Mitt chose a woman non-LDS chief of staff in MA. His chief surrogate is Sununu. His VP is Ryan. It looks like he will pick the best people (with whom he feels comfortable, of course). Time will tell.

178 NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Autopsy results released Thursday show that a 2-year-old boy was alive before he was decapitated, and his mother, who authorities said killed him, died from a self-inflicted knife wound to the neck.

Police found the body of 2-year-old Zahree Thomas in the familyÂ’s Camden rowhouse early Wednesday. His head was in the freezer. His mother, Chevonne Thomas, stabbed herself in the neck minutes after placing a rambling, sometimes incoherent call to 911. Thomas told a dispatcher that she had stabbed her son.

That Obamacare Mandate? Not getting repealed. Senate majority or not. (2/3rds to override veto)

Those EO's rescinded? Not gonna happen. That fief has all the trimmings and fixings any oligarch would love.

Israel? Well now the New Jerusalem is here some say so let's keep it at home. (not so much anti and meh)

Iran? It's in God's hands and maybe we can cut a deal.

Seems Etch a Sketch is more about being comfortable and maybe beholden to the Church.

If you aren't watching HBO's "Newsroom", written by uberlib Aaron Sorkin, you can't fully understand Chris Matthews.

After each new episode, just watch the following few days of his program.  He sees himself as the crusading newsman, bravely trying to bring the truth to the people even in the face of big business enemies and death threats.

I bet it makes his dick stiff just looking at himself in the mirror.

Ameganvi, a lawyer, told The Associated Press that her group is following the example of Liberia's women, who used a sex strike in 2003 to campaign for peace.

"We have many means to oblige men to understand what women want in Togo," Ameganvi said.

The more that the veil comes off of this type of behavior all the better. Non political people going about their business have no idea what has been going on in WI with the petulant whining and temper tantrums that one political party has had to deal with...all in the name of trying to get our fiscal issues in order.

Like WI, when this type of behavior is finally up in their face whether in person or on TV the reaction will be visceral. Independents and Democrats only by birth will abandon their ticket in droves.

Is it cynical of me to think the media are so over-hyping Isaac not because it's "on the same path as Katrina" but because they'll do anything they can to take the focus off the GOP Convention?

Are you all so freeking sensitive and ready to pounce that a few off side comments deserve cries of "burn the troll"

Sometimes you all remind of the Kos kiddies but with more intellect and less seriousness (at least about certain things).

Lighten up. I was just pointing out somethings you're likely to hear in the next few weeks and months. How do you counter them? What if they're correct?

Let's nip this little foray into empire building by telegraphing Mitt that he's headed down the wrong path by using the blogsphere.

instead you want to silence the critics and ignore the possible signs until it's too late to do anything about them.

I tossed in that etch a sketch comment to show that they do listen (haven't had any sh!t show up like that since)

This is the same kind of deal. Troll or no troll, aren't you glad I put it into perspective so you can think about it.

Or maybe you were so outrageously outraged at ME that you lost your mind and are now a mind numbed robot?

My son is off to basic training at Parris Island...and to get there, his mother and I dropped him off that the recruiter's in Scranton yesterday at 11:30 am. He spent the night at a hotel at the MEPS station, then they put him on a bus from Harrisburg PA, (this morning at 4 am), to Maryland. From there they fly him to Chicago. From there, they fly him to Savannah GA. From there, it's a bus to the MCRD.

Talk about the long way around.....

316 @ 19:
A large population can be dominated by a small group only by persuading all dissenters that they stand alone.  Most of their fellow citizens are portrayed as loyal to the regime, and everyone around the dissident is a potential informer.  A huge dissident population can therefore be suppressed, by making them believe theyÂ’re all lonely voices in the wildernessÂ… until the day they begin realizing they are not alone, and most people donÂ’t support the regime.  The process by which dissent becomes seen as commonplace, and eventually overwhelming, is the preference cascade.

336 TAMPA, Fla. — Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus hurled insults at MSNBC on Monday, calling Chris Matthews, one of the network’s hosts, “the biggest jerk in the room.” “This is the Barack Obama surrogate of 2012,” Priebus said of the television network at the Tampa Convention Center, site of the Republican National Convention. “This is what they are all about: They are going to be about division; they are going to be about distraction.” Priebus went after Matthews and MSNBC after Matthews accused Republicans of “playing the race card” during a live television appearance with Priebus earlier in the day. “It’s an embarrassment to your party to play that card,” Matthews told Priebus on the “Morning Joe” show. Priebus said MSNBC network officials have since tried to reach him to “make amends” for Matthews’ accusation. Priebus said he's ignoring them but knows the “Morning Joe” hosts, Mika Brzezinksi and Joe Scarborough, were unhappy with Matthews’ remarks. Asked whether he would ever appear on MSNBC again, Priebus said he would. “I don’t really care — I mean it doesn’t matter,” Priebus said. “If more than 10 people actually watched [Chris Matthews'] show I would actually care but they don’t so whatever.”

Thing is that the Code Pink people think they are edgy and all.

Shit, those young women in Russia put far, far more on the line than these people ever will.

And the day that Code Pink starts protesting Muslim abuse of women, then that is the day I will start paying grudging respect to them.

I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Is it cynical of me to think the media are so over-hyping Isaac not because it's "on the same path as Katrina" but because they'll do anything they can to take the focus off the GOP Convention? Obama is headed down to New Orleans to man the bilge pumps.....

Preibus did fine, he was there and said his thing, you don't really even need to respond to spittle flecked irrational tirades.

He sucked. He's generally done a good job, and it's a long campaign, and it's MSNBC, etc..... But there is no way you go on there not ready with a coherent response to 'Why are you racists?'

It's 20-freakin-12. There is no reason we have to still respond to that shit with a stuttering 'Now see here, sir.'  Time to turn it around and throw it back in their faces. Playing defense is never a good tactic. He knows that. "Racial politics" is one of the few issues where the GOP still plays defense. Enough.

Exactly, would it not be sweet for someone to say to Chrissy, "Thanks for slandering me and mine.  I understand that you were really close to that  wetbrain alcoholic, Ted Kennedy, before he went to Hell to sit and spin on the Devil's pitchfork.

361 Chris Mathews thinks delegitimizing the President was good, now bad. He thinks blaming the President for our problems was bad, now good. If Bush were running and not Obama, all of these "racist" tactics he decries would be deserved. In other words, he's pissed off to be losing. Conscious hypocrisy has just gotta make it worse. I predict living in an alley, decrying civilization and living off cheap alcohol of indeterminate sorts, is not too far off. Why...he's a hobo-in-the-making!

363 And (Charlie Crist is) hoping to run for governor on the Democratic line in 2014. He'll never get out of the primaries. The Dem base will see him as a flip-flopper, and the Rick Scott campaign commercials will literally write themselves. He was against Obama before he was for Obama. He was against gay marriage before he was for gay marriage. Etc, etc, ad nausem.

365 "Oh, and then this claim that Christie didn't want to be veep because he doubted the ticket could win. Which gets juiced up in the article into some kind of Lock of the Week vow that Romney can't win." Romney-Christie probably could not win. He's not as stupid as he seems. In related news, I can't impregnate Obama. Although unlike in Christie's case, the other person is probably willing to give it a shot.

Posted by: thunderb at August 27, 2012 03:59 PM (Dnbau) ----- +1000, and I think people are getting sick and tired of it. Many people voted for Obama to prove they weren't racist. Now everytime anything about the man's record or any kind of criticism is brought up, instantly, the speaker is labeled RACIST. I for one have gotten quite tired of it, and I wager alot of other voters have as well. It's gotten quite old. When real real racism occurs to be called out, these instances cheapen the fact that it does sometimes actually exist. Up yours, Chris Matthews, for making racism More possible as a result of your incoherent crying wolf regarding it, and screw your party for being the main perveyors of actual racism and slavery.
