Stop! Whining time! I have been heartlessly abandoned for Memorial Day. Okay, so it's not like I had actual plans with the 'rents but we were going to do something. Then my mommy calls last night and asks if I can dogsit today since friends of theirs who live an hour or so away invited them down for the day. What was I going to say, no? So they're off for a picnic and I am doglet sitting. Oh woe and despair. On the other hand, at least now I have an excuse to stay in and watch tennis all day.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to invite Bark Obama over to grill a hot dog!
And maybe -- just maybe -- he'll make you an honorary member of the Choom Gang....

This is true. Though, really, there's not much you can do to prepare for that.
Forgive me for assuming you were raised by wolves, like so many here.
Heh. I do frequently feel like I need to carry a sign/post a disclaimer "Yes, I was raised better than this."

I don't care what Juan McLame and Miss Lindsey think about it. Piss on them both.
On a day that we remember our lost soldiers, sailors and airmen why even consider intervening in tribal nonsense?
Muzzies killing muzzies.
It's like ants warring on the driveway. It's what they do.
Let's not get in their way.

I was told there would be no coherent logic on this thread. What you posted makes too much sense and conflicts with "smart diplomacy" as practiced so well by our Harvard overlords!

There was like 8 people there.
It was shocking enough he actually made it - but nobody was there! The usually overflowing steps were empty. Is it because he didn't invite anybody? Or nobody wanted to see him?

Today's menu is pulled pork. We put a pork shoulder on the grill an hour ago, and we'll pull it off in 6 or 7 more hours. Hickory smoke, with a hit or two of mesquite. Homemade BBQ sauce, of course.
Leftovers will help fill some baked potatos later this week.

My kids show more love and respect for our Fallen, then that asshole and he is (bile in throat) Commander-in-Chief:
My little cow patty town just had their Mem. Day Parade. It consists of the Color Guard, Boy Scouts, school band and kids on decorated bikes.
The entire town was there.
During the National Anthem my 6 year asked really loudly why no one was singing ('Just because there aren't words to this version, people should still sing mom!' He, and my 4 year old daughter, started singing and little by little the people around joined in.
Damn. I am a proud momma.
They get it. They really GET it.

Did they block of the viewing stands?
There is no one in them.
Plus, here is what BO had to say:
With so many troops returning home from their service, Obama says the U.S. needs to return the favor.
"We have to serve them and their families as well as they have served
us," Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address. "By making
sure that they get the health care and benefits they need; by caring for
our wounded warriors and supporting our military families; and by
giving veterans the chance to go to college, find a good job and enjoy
the freedom that they risked everything to protect."

Czech WW2 re-creationists also hold annual events honoring Allied contributions to the the war effort. Last year RP ran a cool photo series of restored US military vehicles, artillery pieces etc motoring - in convoy - through the former Pils/Sudetenland region.
Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Reinhard Heydrich assassination.
On Sunday, military buffs, supervised by historians, re-enacted the actual attack on the deputy Reichsprotektor near the site where it took place on May 27, 1942.

I was wondering this earlier in the thread. My wife mentioned it before the turd in a suit showed up - and damned if they didn't show a long shot with nobody there! There were some folks over on the side, but the center was empty!
That's why I was wondering if that whole area is reserved for the "C&C", and since he's so embarrassed about the whole thing didn't invite anybody.
Glad this ruined a perfectly good golf day.

“The reprisals were truly terrible. Some 300 people were murdered because they were relatives of those who helped the commandoes. Jozef GabèÃk and Jan Kubiš, who carried out the assassination, were certainly brave soldiers but they could have never achieved this without the help of these ordinary people.”
Still, not as Gutsy as President Ramrod!

Good grief, it seems to always be about HIM, doesn't it? Healthcare, jobs, college?? This day is for honoring those who served and are NO LONGER here. We celebrate all vets on Veteran's Day. Personally, I thank any vet I see any day of the year not just when I'm told to do it.
I'm off to plant some flags....play nice people.
