8 This is entrapment.

Stop!  Whining time!  I have been heartlessly abandoned for Memorial Day.  Okay, so it's not like I had actual plans with the 'rents but we were going to do something.  Then my mommy calls last night and asks if I can dogsit today since friends of theirs who live an hour or so away invited them down for the day.  What was I going to say, no?   So they're off for a picnic and I am doglet sitting.  Oh woe and despair.  On the other hand, at least now I have an excuse to stay in and watch tennis all day.

There was like 8 people there.

It was shocking enough he actually made it - but nobody was there! The usually overflowing steps were empty. Is it because he didn't invite anybody? Or nobody wanted to see him?

Today's menu is pulled pork.  We put a pork shoulder on the grill an hour ago, and we'll pull it off in 6 or 7 more hours.  Hickory smoke, with a hit or two of mesquite.  Homemade BBQ sauce, of course.

Leftovers will help fill some baked potatos later this week.

My kids show more love and respect for our Fallen, then that asshole and he is (bile in throat) Commander-in-Chief:

My little cow patty town just had their Mem. Day Parade. It consists of the Color Guard, Boy Scouts, school band and kids on decorated bikes.

The entire town was there.

During the National Anthem my 6 year asked really loudly why no one was singing ('Just because there aren't words to this version, people should still sing mom!' He, and my 4 year old daughter, started singing and little by little the people around joined in.

Damn. I am a proud momma.

63 Radio Prague often reprints stories,  photos and replay live radio broadcasts of WW2, some of the stories are very compelling.

Czech WW2 re-creationists also hold annual events honoring Allied contributions to the the war effort. Last year RP ran a cool photo series of restored US military vehicles, artillery pieces etc motoring - in convoy - through the former Pils/Sudetenland region.

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Reinhard Heydrich assassination.

On Sunday, military buffs, supervised by historians, re-enacted the actual attack on the deputy Reichsprotektor near the site where it took place on May 27, 1942.
