— andy Polls close at 9pm Eastern in both primaries.
Fox News coverage starts at 8:45. As a reminder, Michigan's delegates are awarded by congressional district, while Arizona is winner-take-all.
SMOD isn't on the ballot, but last time he ran in Arizona, he crushed it.

So, yes, we are going to need more meteor strikes. Or our wives are going to have start paying us more for sex.

This has been and continues to be a hardcore full-contact primary season.
For all the emo-weeping about a "coronation" or "the fix being in", it's undeniably been a back and forth battle.
Go Romney. A sweep tonight is huge. A split is meh. A double upset would be brutal.

Doesn't matter. There is already an official protest on that score for one of the other primaries who had also lost half of their delegates. The half delegate punishment was for moving primary. going winner take all calls for having the RNC award them as intended and overriding the State party..

Why is that whenever Romney loses, an excuse is instantly invented?
Every state in 2008: It's Huckabee's fault.
Iowa: Santorum campaigned there a lot...
South Carolina: Newt threw Red Meat...
Missouri/Minnesota/Colorado: Mitt really wasn't trying anyway.
See the pattern?

I'm real tired of the GOP candidates each claiming to be the true, really, no kidding, genuine conservative.
Gingrich: squishy on global warming, and the whole sitting on the couch with Nancy Pelosi thing.
Santorum: Unions in PA are good, and we need an industrial policy.
Mitt: I was for gay marriage and an individual mandate before I was against them. What is it with Massachusetts politicians?
Crazy uncle: Sorry, I'd need a couple hours.

Now, still waiting for someone to tell me how Romney is not a weak candidate. Quite frankly, there is no one running on our side that has a chance in Hell of beating Barky. They are all too weak, but some are weaker than others.

Rough guess, but if I remember correctly, 1/3 of Michigan's population reside in Macomb, Oakland, Wayne. 4 congressional districts reside completely inside the area, while three others have parts of these counties within them.

I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant is a television program in which human beings relate actual tales of stealth fetuses that did not make their presence known until they dropped a smoke bomb and rappelled out of the womb.
And it's pulling more of a market share than the combined primary coverage on all the cable stations right now.

Maybe. After all, many people are voting out of fear. They are, in essence, playing not to lose. When you play not to lose, there is no way you can win. Because you've compromised who you are, what you offer, and how you serve others. That's what a lot of people need to realize. Not Obama isn't a winning strategy.
We need to play to win. That means taking big leaps of faith. I believe we can achieve such a thing in a brokered convention.

And who, exactly, is going to be the savior who airdrops in at the last moment to save us all, in heroic fashion? The bench is a bit short at the moment. Team R has some potential future stars, but non that are ready for the bright lights of a presidential campaign (Jindal, Ryan), and a bunch of could've-been-contendahs! candidates who chose to stay out, e.g. Daniels and Pence. Since you want this thing, this brokered convention, what is your preferred outcome?

Not saying this to needle you, but it's exactly the opposite. The margin for Romney is only going to increase from here on out. As I just wrote in #413, the major tranche of votes that have yet to report are from the Detroit suburbs where Romney is crushing Santorum. Particularly Oakland County, which is only about 35% in right now and where Romney leads by 20%. That margin is going to hold as the county fully reports, which is going to add a massive edge to his margin.

Dictators R Us:
>>>Texas decided to bar the WomenÂ’s Health Program funding from abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, in May of last year. Almost immediately, the Obama administration threatened to pull Medicaid from Texas if funding wasnÂ’t reinstated for the abortion giant. Texas refused, and in turn, the Obama administration decided last week to yank the annual $40,000,000 Texas received for its Medicaid program, beginning in March. This also results in another $17,000,000 loss to Planned Parenthood of Texas.
Obama showed his true agenda by pulling Medicaid from Texas. He would
rather have thousands of low-income families struggling to obtain
health care rather than see funding pulled and reallocated from the
largest abortion-committing organization in the nation. <<<<<<

Looks like Romney has it, maybe 5 points total.
Fox just called it for him.
However, looking at a lot of the counties that Santorum carried, some are very strong Dem leaners, and the estimates are that about 10% of the votes are Dem crossovers voting for Santorum.
That makes the Romney margin a bit higher, but impossible to prove.

It actually may end up as a 7% victory for Romney instead of 5-6% if current trends hold. And because he did so surprisingly well in the UP's 1st congressional district (which includes not just the peninsula itself, but also the Northern MI counties that all went Romney), he might end up winning every district in the state except for the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th. That would send him home with a supermajority of MI's delegates despite its proportional allocation.

I've found that pro-choicers who just assume abortion is a religious issue (and that pro-lifers are supporting it because some priest or some passage in the Bible told them to) really haven't examined the issue much.

Kaitian - I agree with you in one respect - this election should be about the economy. But, your issue with abortion is out of place in this debate. You are trying to make an emotional argument about an issue that no one is going to agree on. No, we're not. "Liberal AoSHQ Reader" is pretty much the only avowed lefty commenter here that we tolerate (and even like!) because he/she is polite and reasonable and can be talked to in a civil discourse.
You, on the other hand, are (in the immortal words of George Bluth, Sr.) "just a turd out there on field, really."

Santorum within 3%. Not like he's going to close that gap any further, but he's not really exceeding Rick's 38% plus Newt's 7%. I can't imagine a significant number of Newt's supporters breaking for Willard.
I don't think Mitt's got this thing locked up going forward

Because one has about as much chance of winning as the other. I don't support Raptor Jesus. I don't plan on supporting Raptor Jesus--even in his other forms. There's no need to pretend that the solution, though, is the pro-choice-f'-social-cons Specter route.
He didn't win (the Presidency) back when Republicans ignored him. He didn't win back when they hated him. He couldn't get into the high single digits if I remember correctly. He couldn't even win as a Democrat when he became a Democrat. That guy doesn't win. Do I think a guy who makes a point of informing others of his problems with contraception will win also? No. Neither does a guy who takes the positions and attitude of Specter.

I like Mitt Romney much less than I did when this process started.

I agree - unfortunately I like them all less than when the process started. Not one of them has grown in my estimation. At various points along the path I've wanted to like different candidates, and then ... I just can't like any of them. However I'll vote ABO.

Still here we are. Romney must be elected. Obama must be rejected.

Btw, if you watched CNN's post mortem of the primaries, they openly discussed mitt's weaknesses one of which he thinks he can make up by strategically recruiting a particular VP.

I'm reading a lot of places that her staff was shocked. Didn't learn about this until "a couple of hours before".

What do all the Santorum supporters think of their "true conservative" on that one?

Have you looked at the actual record or are you going with opposition "research".
As Gov. of MA taxes were not raised they were even lowered some - the only thing that went up were fees (a tax on use of government services). Size of state government was reduced by combining redundant agencies and putting a freeze on new hires. MA was bleeding jobs when Romney took over and he reversed job loss in the state and turned the trend positive. Finally the budget went from being 3 billion in the hole to 2 billion surplus.
So please pay more attention - this is important stuff. Lots of things said about Romney that are not even close to the truth. I've researched his record well and for the most part think he is great! Glad to see both wins tonight.

As a Romney guy, I wonder who you support other than Mitt?
The pro union "conservative" that has opened a new and stupid front on contraception. The guy who was not even organized enough to get on the ballot of VA.
Or the Moon Man who has the ethics of Clinton mixed with progressive views of Woodrow Wilson and attacker of capitalism.
Will Romney say some stupid stuff - yes, all politicians do at times - even Reagan. But, will Mitt even come close to his current competitors in the stupid comments arena - very doubtful.
