— andy Alert the media!
Palestinians have a fierce new song to accompany their intensified conflict with Israel. “Strike a Blow at Tel Aviv,” recorded by Shadi al-Bourini and Qassem al-Najjar, was posted last week on various Palestinian websites, including the Facebook page of the TV show Fenjan Al-Balad, which describes its mission as “trying to influence young Palestinian society for the better.” The video, which features images of wounded Israelis and massed Qassam artillery rockets, opens with these lines:Strike a blow at Tel Aviv.
Strike a blow at Tel Aviv.
Strike a blow at Tel Aviv and frighten the Zionists.
The more you build it, the more we will destroy it.
Strike a blow at Tel Aviv.
Jeff Jacoby makes the point in the linked column that any neutral observer of the Israeli/Palestine conflict should arrive at: the Palestinians are the aggressors and their goal is the destruction of Israel. Anyone who says differently is selling something.
By now it shouldn’t come as news that Hamas means what it says. By now it should be obvious even to the congenitally naïve that so long as Hamas rules Gaza — a de facto Palestinian state, no matter what anyone calls it — it will never end its quest for Israel’s annihilation. To Western eyes that may seem an improbable objective, given Israel’s enormous military edge. But Hamas understands the value of terror. When it can send hundreds of rockets slamming over the border, when it can force Israelis to listen constantly for the siren that means they have just 15 seconds to find shelter, Hamas inches toward its goal. And when Israel finally retaliates and only then does an international uproar ensue, Hamas inches closer still.
I know it's Thanksgiving week and all, and Ace is encouraging us to think happy thoughts. But sometimes world events just don't cooperate.
So in this holiday season of peace and love, I exhort the Israelis to go Old Testament (SWIDT) on Hamas. Or, in the words of Gen. Curtis LeMay, "If you kill enough of them, they stop fighting."

I used to have more faith in the Egyptians when Sadat said "Ya know, getting our asses kicked by the Israelis is really getting old. Maybe we should figure out how to coexist with them". Then he was murdered.

Yeah. I really think Israel needs to turn to "the Global Community" and say, "Fuck you. We live with this every day, and when we finally retaliate, we're the mean ones? Well watch this: we'll show you the definition of mean, and we'll show you the definition of terror. Maybe it'll take you 40 or 50 years to forget, next time."
And then proceed to 1) reduce every structure in Gaza to rubble, then 2) bull doze the whole area, and finally 3) turn that into the home of a new military base.

IIRC, Wallace's shtick was not entirely about segregation and reversing federal "fairness" and "inclusion" edicts. He was a states-rights guy, and I would guess (not knowing that much about LeMay's beliefs) that was a major determining factor. Well, that and LeMay's years as head of SAC showed him Washington wasn't particularly interested in actually supporting a strong national defense.
Some things never change. Only the names of the cowards and traitors are different.

In Gaza, the Tel Aviv bombing was praised from mosque loudspeakers, while Hamas' television interviewed people praising the attack as a return of militants' trademark tactics.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum welcomed it.

Speaking of going Old Testament on the Paleosimians - any 'rons and 'ronettes interested in the Gaza doings should check out the Seraphic Secret blog at www.seraphicpress.com. Here's the beginning of a post on the name of the current Israeli operation:
Israel’s current operation against the Islamic terrorists in Gaza — Hamas and affiliates, supported and financed by Iran — has been translated into English as “Operation Pillar of Defense.”
This is a poetic translation which fails to convey the true meaning and purpose of IsraelÂ’s military operation.
The original Hebrew is, òîåã òðï, “Amud Anan,” a phrase taken directly from the Torah.

Whenever a lib says something, instead of the instinctive response to argue the conservative position (which is an exercise in futility), take the lib's position to its most extreme and use it as your argument.
Works great when responding to 'raising minimum wage' or 'living wage' arguments.
"You're right! We should immediately raise minimum wage to $100/hour! How about $1000?"

I have been known to shock and offend him with mockery, but I usually leave the room before it gets to that. Well, okay, not America, but Egypt really took it to Israel... wait, you mean they didn't? They got slapped down a couple of times and decided coexistence was better than getting their asses kicked every couple of years? Who knew?
The problem is we never let Israel win. We (that is, the World generally, and the US more specifically) never actually let Israel finish the war, so Hamas and the Palestinians never learn that they can't win. They're allowed their illusions that they "voluntarily" agreed to the ceasefire.

The disturbing thing is that once they leave a state for surrounding states, their power in the host state doesn't seem to diminish. They maintain their hold on that state while infecting states around them

I think a lot of that is due to the apathetic and/or "low information" idiots who just vote for the incumbent in any election, or who vote for the person with the most memorable name or the flashiest campaign sign. The actual percent of a population that is genuinely leftist isn't that big, but once they get in power it's impossible to get them OUT of power without a paradigm shift in the minds of the idiots who don't pay attention to politics. I honestly believe that if we could just have enough one on one conversations with the idiots, they'd start to think a little more about things before pulling the lever at election time. They might not always vote the best way, or the right way, but they'd at least have a moment's pause in which to say, "Hang on, DO I want this?" But it HAS to be a one-on-one conversation. Mass media is too over-saturated with leftist drivel for anything our side says to make an impression.

That's a good question, but it really presupposes a different question:
If we had smart bombs to use on the Germans and Japanese, would we have been willing to bomb civilian areas (even contributing to the war effort), or would we have kept to purely military targets?
I think, back then, we would still have destroyed all of the factories and rail lines in Dresden (for instance), and so the Germans, at least, would still have surrendered. The Japanese (with their different culture) are harder to know about. It would almost certainly have cost far more lives than it did.

I still remember the story of the dude who raped Jacob's daughter. His sons convinced the rapist (and his village) that if they'd just get circumcised, they could intermarry.

That's the thing, though. A lot of the idiot low info types are only steeped in that culture to the point that they resort to it as their default position, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't be open to hearing and accepting an alternate viewpoint if one is presented to them. For example, we're all used to hearing that our schools aren't getting enough money. Oh, boohoo. We have to increase our school budgets FOR THE CHILDREN! That's the "default" position.
So take a low info voter aside and say to him, "I don't get this. They keep telling us we have to pay more and more for our kids to go to school, but the kids keep doing worse and worse on math and writing and history, and all the things we're supposedly paying for. And we pay more per student than any other country in the world except Luxembourg! I think the money isn't the problem. It's like when you take your car to the mechanic for a tuneup, and you walk away with a laundry list of things they SAY you need to get fixed that will cost you thousands of dollars. So you pay it, and a week later you have to take it back to the shop because they missed the REAL problem, and now your engine is making a knocking sound and your brakes are squeaking. So now you have to pay MORE money.
"Well I'm not going to vote for another increase in funding. The schools already get plenty of money. We have to find the REAL problem and fix THAT."

Well, really it's been kind of a shitty morning, but hey....
So, just for the record, my vote is for a completely disproportionate Israeli response. You have to make it not worth the effort. If they kill 20 and you kill 20 or knock down some houses, they win. They kill 20, you kill 200. They kill 200, you take out 1000.

AllenG,
I always think of this as redundant. Especially a "lunch" meeting. Like the company is doing you a favor. It's a crappy lunch and a crappier meeting.

When Hamas refuses to take credit for the bus bombing they should be mocked and derided for being incompetent....then carpet bombed until they take credit and then carpet bombed for what they did.
For the life of me, it's a high energy version of what we put up with on our borders, and it never has sufficent force applied to stop it. Makes me think some big hands want this shit to go on.

what has the arab world given mankind in the last 500 years? if you don't contribute, if all you do is take, you are a parasite. parasites must be eradicated. humanity is slipping backwards and even the most casual observer must agree the rabs have fallen the furthest. kill every single one starting with the fat, screaming, toothless women. its no wonder buttramming is such a popular sport over there. the women are disgusting.

I wonder; if by some means the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem were to be damaged or destroyed, and it could be shown that Hamas was the 'doer' (stray? rocket) would the rest of the Muslims still support them, or cut off their gonads?
Israelis' might think on this. Those rockets are pretty indiscriminate in where they go and what they hit.
