5 Yeah Rehberg in Montana...it's gonna be close because Rehberg has been our congressman for a long time but Tester is the incumbent senator.  So they both have good name recognition. It'll come down to east Montana vs. west.

Rehberg definitely needs money.

8 Reposting from an earlier thread: Apparently the GOP's Senate nominee has said that having a kid out of wedlock is the same as getting raped. Tip to GOP candidates: STOP TALKING ABOUT RAPE! Audio here [fair warning, audio is at ThinkProgress]: http://tinyurl.com/9d9vvdv Someone please tell Republicans running for the Senate that if a "news reporter" asks you about a rape-exception regarding abortion (and you don't support it), the first thing out of your mouth ought to be to CONDEMN RAPE WITHOUT EXCEPTION OR QUALIFICATION! Then you can go on to explain that as horrible as rape is, that the child has no less a right to life due to the particulars of his/her conception. I fear that the Democrats will turn this election as a referendum on rape, with the GOP painted as a pro-rape party. This will not end well...

18 CAC, you should be including Nevada in the races that need money. The GOP here is having a civil war with the state party run by people who wouldn't mind if Heller looses (because he's not a Paul-bot). The Dems still have a powerful machine AND they increased their registration lead by 30% since the primaries. Donate here: https://secure.deanheller.com/donate/

If you don't believe in an abortion exception for rape, the correct answer is that you condemn rape and dodge the question.

Basicly, according to dem logic, since there will be no free daycare, their right to access day care has been denied. Dems are anti-child care!

No word on whether theres an exception for rape or incest in getting the free day care, but probably not.

57 Hollywood level accidental shooting or just bullshit? Then on Monday morning, two American soldiers were shot and killed by one of their Afghan colleagues in the east, military officials said, bringing to 12 the number of international troops — all Americans — to die at the hands of their local allies this month. But Afghan officials said Monday’s attack in Laghman province was a separate case from the rash of recent insider attacks on international forces, because it appeared to have been an accidental shooting. When the group of U.S. and Afghan soldiers came under attack, they returned fire and ran to take up fighting positions, said Noman Hatefi, a spokesman for the Afghan army corps in eastern Afghanistan. But an Afghan soldier fell and accidentally discharged his weapon, killing two American soldiers with the errant rounds, he said. “He didn’t do this intentionally. But then the commander of the unit started shouting at him, `What did you do? You killed two NATO soldiers!’ And so he threw down his weapon and started to run,” Hatefi added. The U.S. troops had already called in air support to help with the insurgent attack and the aircraft fired on the escaping Afghan soldier from above, killing him, Hatefi said.

Posted by: Hollowpoint at August 27, 2012 05:24 PM (SY2Kh)

------------

Social issues are a big loser for Republicans.

That's why the Dems keep bringing them up....especially the abortion/rape issue.

I like the fact that the Republican party is the party of....Freedom.

And less Government Intrusion into our lives.

A woman should have the right to purchase a firearm, right?

She could 'take a life' with that gun.

But allowing her to have the freedom to have an abortion? No! We have to outlaw that.

We conservatives rail about the Government trying to micro-manage our lives.

Except on the abortion issue.

It makes us look like hypocrites.

We could outlaw abortions....but it will not stop them from happening.

Just like with owning a gun.

People will just go underground for it, and go around the law.

Just like how Drug Laws have not stopped people from doing illegal drugs.

Is abortion an abomination?

Yeah. It is.

But as a political issue....it's a loser.

I for damn sure don't want my tax dollars paying for abortions.

Most people don't.

I would like to see our candidates simply state that...."Abortions should not be an entitlement, paid for with tax dollars".

And leave it at that.

92 "Or an original thought."

...as if McCain and Graham emanate desirable originality.

94 perhaps the best answer to the "what about rape?" question is to reply, "well, a woman with a gun who knows how to use it very rarely becomes a victim of rape..."

I'm sure the girl appreciates that explanation.

96 "Social issues are a big loser for Republicans. "
I actually don't think thats as true as it once was. The nation seems to be tilting away from supporting abortion so much but the smart tactical thing to do is keep up the pressure, but do it quietly. If you push people too much they tend to react rather than listen. Women especially tend to be really touchy on the issue even if they know better. And young guys are gung ho on abortion because they figure women are and besides, who wants to be stuck with a kid because you went bareback with some hookup? Consequences are for the old.

97 I fear that the Democrats will turn this election as a referendum on rape, with the GOP painted as a pro-rape party.

This will not end well...

Nah, don't worry.  It'll all blow over in a day or two.

Legal safe and rare may be the best political position.

99 Its sad that someone who defends unborn babies from being killed for the evil deeds of their father is deemed a "psycho." That doesn't speak well for our culture. Mush mouthed egotistical idiot, I'll buy but psycho?

100 30 years ago , in the hospital I worked in at the time, A Catholic woman brought her teenaged daughter in for abortion. They lived a few hours away but didn't want anyone in their social circle to know. People are often far more pro life in theory than in reality.

101 Akin needs money, too. Unless you Republicans seek to claim revenge against him and elect McCaskill. That's a great strategy! Yep, one little gaffe -- for which he apologized profusely and repudiated -- should be punishable by death I suppose. Don't call this the STUPID Party for nothin'. Hope you like having Sen.Ocare McCaskill for another six years, but thinking Republicans and Evangelical Christians will do all we can to elect Akin. You can thank us later.

He's also a psycho because of the raving lunatic interviews he gave.

103 Yep, one little gaffe -- for which he apologized profusely and repudiated - his repudiation was as sincere as Jimmy Swaggarts apology. as Horton would Say he said what he meant and meant what he said. he just got caught saying it.

105 That lie will just never, ever go away. Sad. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at August 27, 2012 06:27 PM (r4wIV) its not a lie . Its a belief held by a segment of the Hard life community initially promulgated by Wilkie and explicitly stated by Fisher in his defense of Akin. Are you a proponent?

106 How about Kurt Bills in Minnesota? Obama only won this state with 54% in 2008, there's no way he does better, or even gets that much here this time.

108 Please guys, there is no reason to exclude Lingle in HI from this list. She has won statewide, she has a proven track record. She will be the absolute most liberal republican in the Senate, and she will make Susan Collins look like Jim Demint, but seriously she will vote for McConnell. Control is uber, uber important, Dirty Harry will eliminate the filibuster next congress if he's maj. leader. That is a small TV market in HI and we can win. Awesome poll numbers for McMahon too! Woohoo
