— Ace 4th quarter 2011's growth rate was 3.0%.
First quarter 2012 is 2.2%. Unexpectedly.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but when it comes to gangbusters growth and economic activity, Obama peaked too soon.
Watch CNBC spin this to make it sound as if this rate beats expectations:
While that was below economists' expectations for a 2.5 percent pace, a surge in consumer spending took some of the sting from the report. However, growth was still stronger than analysts' predictions early in the quarter for an expansion below 1.5 percent.
So it was below expectations, but really, earlier in the quarter less-accurate predictions were for it to be lower than it turned out to be, so, going by those dated predictions, we're really looking good.

And then down to 1%. It's pretty sad that the default setting is that we are being lied to.

They can adjust and massage the stats all they want-- people know if they're out of work, if their friends are out of work.
Doesn't matter if everywhere else is going awesomely (and it's not; it's not even being reported as such), people know their situations and will vote (or not) accordingly.
Even if they just want to roll the dice on Someone Else, because they know the hand they have is terrible-- even if they just get a rook and a pawn, that's still better than having their battleship sunk.

It is slower now than at the height of the recession. Large companies are showing good profits but us small guys are capitulating. My business survived the last round and did ok once enough of the competition went under. But we are getting out this time around while the getting is good.
Good luck with that whole socialism thing. The small business guys are going to ground now and a lot of us will not be coming back. I kept my business open because it provided jobs... not because I personally needed the money. But with the war being waged on the productive class I don't see any reason to continue.

obama; This past week, one of his campaign websites posted an item entitled "Behind the curtain: A brief history of Romney's donors." In the post, the Obama campaign named and shamed eight private citizens who had donated to his opponent. Describing the givers as all having "less-than-reputable records," the post went on to make the extraordinary accusations that "quite a few" have also been "on the wrong side of the law" and profiting at "the expense of so many Americans."

I saw that article at Breitbart. Barky had the bus all warmed up for the admiral in case the mission went badly.
Gutsy call!

Yeah, I really don't see what this whole race war flame-fanning is supposed to accomplish.
Vote for Obama or they'll be riots?

No wonder he wants to spike the ball over a touchdown scored a year ago.

This needs to get out there, because Barky is totally using his "gutsy call" in his re-election campaign.

A lot of defaulters were living in their homes without paying a dime for the mortgage due to the moratorium on foreclosures. That money went for i-Toys and other luxuries, maybe a new car.
I'm sure a new wave of foreclosures will be blamed on Bush and the 1 percenters, so it's all good for Team Cool in their minds

He did what a Commander-in-Chief is supposed to do - said 'do it' and gave someone authority.
Okay, the 'risk profile' stuff is a bit waffly, but I wouldn't have expected anything better from Clinton or GWB.
Hell, the last President who'd had less waffles with that breakfast would have been Eisenhower, or maybe Truman.

The original plan was to use stimulus to buy off constituencies and to use Obamacare to get what they really want (not just gov't control of health, but everything else).
What was supposed to happen was that the American economy was supposed to spring back, regardless of the environmental regulations and the generally private-sector hostility that this administration has.
A funny thing happened. The market responded to Obama.
