2 OT already,
Finished holding my nose, and pulling the lever in Baltimore.
Staff is begging me to tell my friends to come out and vote.
Looks like our Polling Place is having very low turn-out for this time of day.

7 OT.  Powerline has been documenting 'funny' donations to Obama's re-election campaign.  So far Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Usama bin Laden, and Imon Deathrow have donated.

All because, once again, the CCV option is turned off.  And people have decided to make these donations to prove this point.

I wait for Kony to donate.  But I will not hold my breath for the media to report this.

On a political note, its legit to ask a candidate what he believes in. Yes, thats done all the time.

So if mitt believes that mixed marriage is unlawful in the eyes of god because thats what mormonism teaches, then that is a legit question to ask him.

mitt believes that given the fact that he has risen so high in the mormon heirarchy, he will become a god when he dies. With such status, his beliefs state that he will receive his own planet in the Celestial Kingdom. He will then resurrect his dead wife and they will spend their days procreating to polulate their planet.

The Mormon Church, through its political organization, the Kingdom of God, says John J. Stewart in Joseph Smith the Mormon Prophet, plans on gaining a political stronghold in the U.S. government. The goal is to “bring the United States Government under the rule of the priesthood.”

This is theocracy. And it aint the theocracy many of you have signed on for. No, this is a mormon ruled world where the churchs' living prophet decides everything. Not the President. Not the citizens. Not the electorate.

Sounds terrible. mitt should answer questions about what he believes.

How the hell did a basketball thread turn into a OMG ROMNEY'S A CULTIST thread?

I was just pondering that if Romney is elected, he should go all out and do everything he can to freak out the MFM about ooga booga Mormon.  Hand out commemorative special underwear, get Giorgio Tsoukalos to show up for the inauguration to explain how the ancient aliens were the ones who gave Joseph Smith those plates, have groups of women follow him around and say he's considering adding more sister wives, the whole bit.   Pretty much do everything that the MFM is claiming he really really want to do.  I know he can't and there are idiots who would think he meant it but just once I would love to see an elected official run with it and be all "yup, totally handle snakes, wanna see?"

That's a good question.  It will depend on how the Jets want to use him.  There's some speculation they'd put him in as a running back, and use him occasionally to Wildcat.  That might be a really good use of his abilities, frankly.

53 Well, here in ole KY. we had more assholish behavior in lexington last night in "celebration" of our title. I think you can draw a big, fat straight line connecting the entitlement attitude of the current college-going crowd to this kind of ghetto behavior(and Im talking about whites and blacks). Fucking embarassment, and Kentucky fans can no longer pretend to be some kind of noble "above it all" fans who would never resort to "that kind of behavior". Thanks to the snotty little co*ksuckers of ages 18-25 for yet again showing the impending doom we face due to not having mature humans to leave in charge when the old folks pass on.

Mr. rockmom won $100 in his office pool!  It helped that Kentucky finally won one.  He actually won it on the tiebreaker for total points in the championship game - he had 133 and the actual was 136.  Not bad for the spouse who doesn't know nearly as much about basketball as I do.  But I always suck with the brackets, because I always pick Kentucky to win and everyone I hate to lose.

Well, yeah, there's that possibility too. The key is going to be the ability to work in Tebow without making the other players feel like they are part of a rotation. Resentment will kill the strategy dead where it stands. Tebow's humility and work ethic will allow him to take whatever they hand him and make the best of it.The other players might not see it that way.

78 So when tebow goes in how will the defense be surprised then? They will know what is coming. And your gonna bench your starting QB for 20 plays a game?

Well, if you actually use him as (say) a Half-Back for most of the game, and put him in as QB for the Wildcat occasionally, it's got a chance.

Think about it, Denver's whole offense (which took them to the 2nd round of the playoffs) was a wildcat offense- every play.  Frankly, Tebow makes a wildcat truly scary- unlike some wildcats, you really do have to worry about both the pass and the run.  Most can't pull it off in quite as balanced a way as Tebow can.

85 Well, if you actually use him as (say) a Half-Back for most of the game, and put him in as QB for the Wildcat occasionally, it's got a chance. 88 Hate basketball. We went to a Jazz game last Friday, mostly to see Billy Casper (PGA golfer) be honored at half-time. They were playing the Kings, so Jimmer (BYU grad) played some. To my untrained eye he did not look good. Fans were pretty funny -- a bunch cheered for him, but then they would get countered by the folks who decided it was not cool to root for the opposing team. There seems to be so much about an NBA game that has nothing to do with the sport. Every spare moment was filled up with flashing lights, t-shirt tosses, competitions. There was even a blimp. Yup.  Elway managed to destroy a huge part of the goodwill he'd earned over the years by how he handled the entire Tebow situation.  He seriously looked pissed off that Tebow was leading the team to victory.  Dude, I don't care if you make those faces when Tebow was looking completely overwhelmed.  Those are the appropriate faces to make then.  I do care when you look like he just shot your dog in front of you when he leads the team to a dramatic victory.

Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at April 03, 2012 11:25 AM (piMMO) Nope that's true. I am not all that familiar with Denver to know why they drafted him, but he got put in as QB because who was there before ( Oden? ) fell flat on his face and they were losing anyway. Hey I got nothing against Tebow as a person, but in my humble opinion, he does not have to goods to lead a winning NFL team on a consistent basis. And considering the very few offers ( forget about good offers ) the Broncos got for him, most people in the NFL think so also.

119 I think it's easier to ignore the stuff at baseball games. Even in a small, minor league park you have an open air environment. NBA games have you in this enclosed space where they control the lighting and sound (very noisy) so it's hard to tune out what they're doing. Prefer a baseball park with organ music over the piped in crap. Now get off my lawn.

I'm not a mind reader.  I'm guessing, however, that people took a look at the fact that the Broncos didn't want him and assumed, "Oh, there must be something we don't know.  Nope.  Not interested."

He's not a "hair on fire" QB, and he never will be, but he's vexing for defenses because he essentially makes the Option and Play Action believable on every. single. down.

127 Uh oh, the story of St. Trayvon of Martin just took a fatal blow:

“You will recall the incident of the beating of the black homeless man Sherman Ware on December 4, 2010 by the son of a Sanford police officer. The beating sparked outrage in the community but there were very few that stepped up to do anything about it. I would presume the inaction was because of the fact that he was homeless not because he was black. Do you know the individual who stepped up when no one else in the black community would? Do you know who spent tireless hours putting flyers on the cars of persons parked in the churches of the black community? Do you know who waited for the church-goers to get out of church so that he could hand them flyers in an attempt to organize the black community against this horrible miscarriage of justice? Do you know who helped organize the City Hall meeting on January 8, 2011 at Sanford City Hall?? That person was GEORGE ZIMMERMAN.”

You know, that's a great point that gets missed. Each team is a medium to large size business. Sure, winning is great and will help with the ticket buying and ratings but getting seats in the stands and eyes on the screen and those jerseys sold is the true point. See re: Cubs.

129 but overall he really doesn't seem to be maturing as a passer.

I disagree.  Based on what I saw of him (one of his early games, another later in the season, and one playoff game) I saw marked improvement in his throwing motion and release in each successive game.  Admittedly, I'm not an expert, but that was my impression.  His passes were more on target the deeper he got into the season, too.

On top of that, it was his first season starting.

I'm not saying he's going to be a franchise QB.  What I am saying is that loyalty used to mean something, and I would think you'd owe at least the facade of loyalty to the QB who took you from a losing record to the second round of the Playoffs.

But who wants to rely on that or build their team around that kind of QB?

If it works, why not?  And, you have to admit, the last 2 - 5 minutes of games were really exciting.

Guys like Peyton Manning don't retire gracefully, they shop around until someone picks them up. So I wish Tebow well, but I don't think his prospects are good on the Jets. 140 n its quest to implement stealth amnesty, the Obama Administration is working behind the scenes to halt the deportation of certain illegal immigrants by granting them “unlawful presence waivers.” The new measure would apply to illegal aliens who are relatives of American citizens. Here is how it would work, according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announcement posted in today’s Federal Register, the daily journal of the U.S. government; the agency will grant “unlawful presence waivers” to illegal aliens who can prove they have a relative that’s a U.S. citizen. Currently such aliens must return to their native country and request a waiver of inadmissibility in an existing overseas immigrant visa process. In other words, they must enter the U.S. legally as thousands of foreigners do on a yearly basis. Besides the obvious security issues, changing this would be like rewarding bad behavior in a child. It doesn’t make sense. This guy has got to go

I reject that breakdown, because it completely ignores the threat he was as a runner.  All I said was that his motion and release seemed better in later games- not that he had a better rating.

The thing is there have been so few QBs like Tebow in the modern era that it's hard to find a good comparison or have a good statistical breakdown.

So I wish Tebow well, but I don't think his prospects are good on the Jets.

I'll agree with that.  I think it was a disservice to him for the Broncos to trade him- especially to trade him to a team that was already "set" at QB.

159 Sports line of the day about Ryan Leaf, busted twice for robbery of prescription painkillers "Former San Diego Chargers general manager Bobby Beathard, who picked Leaf No. 2 overall behind Peyton Manning in the 1998 NFL draft, remembers Leaf less charitably: "His biggest robbery was me drafting him and him getting all the money from the team."

161 I think Tebow is a better QB then Sanchez. Sure his mechanics need work, but his decision making is better. Sanchez isn't getting any better, I think he has hit his ceiling.

163 what does la raza have to do with a hispanic floridian? seriously?

Nothing, since he doesn't fit their narrative of oppression.  But, trust me, if the deceased had been Hispanic, and the shooter white, La Raza would have been all over it just as fast as Al and Jesse.

The Agitator in Chief is playing a dangerous game of demagoguery, that I hope will backfire on his ass.

Manufacturing all this 'black victimhood' to support his obsession with Bell's kill-whitey dogma is yet another illustration of how he could care less about the wellfare of the citizens of this country....and only sees them as pawns to use in his quest for power.

187 OT:  Ouch!  The irony!  It burns!

That person was GEORGE ZIMMERMAN.” – from a letter to Turner Clayton of the Seminole County NAACP written by “a concerned Zimmerman family member”

194 @188 Yeah, in terms of logos as simply a picture, I think the Redskins one is like a work of art. It looks a lot like the Indian head nickel. I was trying to find who did the artwork for it, but I struck out so far. But it looks like a serious artist did it. Obviously the team name coincides with a (somewhat dated) pejorative, so that's a shame, but I think when you look at Washington's team in toto, it is not meant to be derogatory. Best solution, if push comes to shove, is to change the official team name to 'Skins, which is what we call them anyway, but keep the logo.
