— CAC 61% to Romney's 28%.
*Not mentioned in headline: Obama sees a 16 point drop in support from 2008 share (77%). President Obama currently grabs a significantly smaller share than Kerry (74%) or Gore (79%) as well. But I guess that headline would be uncomfortable.

What they will not do is vote for a Republican. Note that even though Obama dropped in that poll Romney has not gathered all of that drop from what McShitty got in 2008.
And besides that, it is far to early for that poll to be accurate.

OT- IÂ’m having some work done on the wireless router and connections trying to get faster downloads. Comcast had some promotional deal on better service, but IÂ’d like to know if anyone out there checks their speed (IÂ’m using speedtest.net) and what do they get with what type of service. ItÂ’s hard to tell if IÂ’m getting screwed or not.
Right now, with the low end upgrade from Comcast I’m getting 16.5mps download and about 10 – 11mps upload, which is better than before but still not great.

On what issues were they queried? How best to prepare dog? What wine pairs best with Dachshund?
I took a call from a pollster (showed up on my caller Id as AFL-CIO). None of their questions were misleading, but some of the prompts were mis-matched from the order they gave the options in a given question: for example, if they mentioned A, B, and C as options in the question, they might say "Press 1 for A, Press 2 for C, or press 3 for B."

The approach appears to be paying off among Jewish voters. The AJC poll showed Obama scored 58 percent approval in how he managed the U.S.-Israel relationship and 69 percent in how he handled national security. Last September just 40 percent of respondents to an AJC poll approved of his handling of the relationship with Israel.
So Barry runs around and panders for a few months before the election and people are buying into it? Compare what he's actually done to his empty words. How can anyone believe his BS?

"It’s a lesson the Obama campaign seems already to have taken to heart. Obama has spoken three times in the last six months to Jewish audiences and has always emphasized Israel’s security, whatever the forum – whether it was Union for Reform Judaism in December, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in March or U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in April."
As should be done with any politician, pay attention to what they do, not what they say.
The few American Jews who can actually get over their reflexive Democrat vote are swinging to the conservatives side. Just don't ask them to admit it in public.

My first thought was holy crap that's a huge drop.
I took a call from a pollster (showed up on my caller Id as AFL-CIO).
I got a push poll call yesterday on the gay marriage constitutional amendment that's on the ballot for May (oh fml) and at least this time I didn't make the pollster cry so I guess that means I'm a better person. My response of none of the above to the various options really threw the poor guy though.
Here's a random question, what does the Horde think of early voting? Voting day for the primaries and the aforementioned constitutional amendment (oh fml) is on May 8th but you can vote earlier. I don't know what I think about that. I kind of prefer making voting a bit of a big deal because it should be a big deal.
Also I want an I Voted sticker. The only reason to vote as soon as the polls open is to get the I Voted sticker and brag about it all day long.

My experience with my fellow "Conservative" Jews is that the label is a misnomer; that is, they tend to be VERY liberal WRT social issues (gay marriage, Obamneycare, etc).

President Barack Obama's reelection campaign is out with a new slogan today — "Forward." — as part of a seven minute video highlighting the president's accomplishments in his first term.
The message is reminiscent of the MSNBC slogan "Lean Forward," and is intended to provide a more optimistic message to a campaign so far defined by "we're better than the other guy."
The video features a listing of Obama's legislative achievements, obstructionist Republicans, and, of course, the killing of Osama Bin Laden.
According to the Obama campaign, the video will be played at President Obama's first campaign rallies on Saturday.
Republicans are attempting to co-opt the slogan on social media, with RNC Press Secretary Kirsten Kukowski sending out nine bullet points, including: "Under Obama's budget, Americans can look #FORWARD to $1.9 trillion in higher taxes."
Referencing the Fox slogan "Fair and Balanced," MSNBC Morning Joe anchor Joe Scarborough quipped this morning: "So is Mitt Romney's slogan going to be 'Balanced'? ... They're taking MSNBC's slogan."

FDR sock: "So what if I let Hitler kill 6,000,000 Jews?"
This isn't fair. FDR's record on Jews in WWII isn't perfect. Hell, it isn't even good when it comes to refugees. But he saw that Hitler needed to be defeated, and he took steps to lead us into war at a time when 80% of the American people were firmly for staying the hell out. Pearl Harbor or no, we'd have been at war with Nazi Germany by 1942 anyway, what with the convoying of British ships into British home waters, with orders to shoot on sight any German warship.

A few months ago, I got some very very earnest young 20's sounding girl got me on the phone for a "poll" that was very clearly pushing the anti-amendment stance. I tried to be polite but then she mentioned something about the only reason for opposing it being bigotry and I teed off on her. I got back a snotty "you don't know what it's like to be gay" and I snapped back "Honey, I've known I was queer longer than you've been alive". There was a bit more back and forth and then I told her that she should demand a refund from whatever college she attended as clearly she'd never been taught how to think and that's when she started crying and hung up. I felt kind of bad about it. Not really bad, but a little bit.
Gah. I have had a pounding headache since yesterday. The workers just started respackling and repainting the front lobby. There's a better than even chance I'm going to hurl at my desk from the fumes. /pitywhoring

He'll struggle to get 61% here in FL. I have quite a few Jewish friends. They're openly criticizing and abandoning him in droves. I also have some retired union rank and file friends who supported him in 08'. To a man, they're all openly critical and saying they'd vote for anyone but Obama.
Would these people say any of this to a pollster? Absolutely not, they'd all lie and say they supported him because of fear of retaliation. Nobody trusts that the pollsters keep responses anonymous, and with Obama's proclivity towards attacking private citizens, the prudent thing to do is give the "correct" response.

"Conservative (Masorti) Jews do not support Obama. In other words, observant Jews do not support Obama."
Maybe (although we go pretty regularly, and ,ost of the other regulars are major libs).
But there's this (from the movement's website):
"the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism endorses the "Interfaith Statement in Support of Comprehensive Immigration Reform"
[WRT energy] "Ensure equitable sharing of the benefits of those resources to advance the security, economic and personal well-being of all residents of North America"
[WRT "Reproductive Choice"] "administrative agency actions or any other governmental actions that will or reasonable grounds to believe exist that it might impact a women's right to fulfill any halachic requirements in regard to abortion." (fancy weay of saying "pro-abortion")
Admittedly, the USCJ us an "umbrella" org, not a Papacy, so these aren't binding on individuals. But they represent the overall attitudes of its membership.

Those who do are predominantly JINO's. They're "Jews" when they find it advantageous to use that label.

16 point drop in support from 2008...
2% of the population, concentrated in Blue states The O will inevitably take anyway.
Fund-raising and maybe Florida aside, no real help there.

If they're smart, they'll say nothing or offer tepid non-cash lip service support for Obama when in public. This one is still up in the air, and it would be unwise to put yourself in a position to be retaliated against should Obama win. Just voting against Obama in the privacy of the voting booth is enough.

The thing about gerrymandered districts is they were designed for normal times when the voting base wasn't irritated. When a few percent in a gerrymandered district flip, the whole deal goes pear shaped.
Obama, even with a slim "electoral" win, could wind up causing significant down ticket carnage for Dems.

I'm not religious, so I don't really pay much attention to what religion someone is except in cases where religious affiliation predicts anti-social behavior or the triumph of dogma over reality.
To me there isn't a whole lot of difference between Judaism and Christianity. The latter is derived from the former and the moral lessons of each are more or less the same. So I always found it strange that the voting patterns of Jews would differ so starkly from that of Christians until I realized that the two groups didn't get along. (I can be kind of slow on the uptake sometimes.) Jews seem to spend a lot of thought and effort trying not to be Christians, in defending themselves intellectually and culturally from being dissolved in the sea of the Christian culture of America.

I would like to see a poll of Jews who believe in the Torah and observe the Sabbath- that would be 90% for Romney.
Many of those Obama supporters polled as Jews are non-practicing ones, or perhaps not even Jewish according to the Torah

"or because the left is more secular and accepting of non-christians, unlike the right which is very strongly associated with Christianity? ... I always found it strange that the voting patterns of Jews would differ so starkly from that of Christians until I realized that the two groups didn't get along"
This post puzzles me, because Christian conservatives in America - both according to polls and in my personal experience - tend toward philo-Semitism: deeply opposed both to anti-Semitism and to any effort to use Christianity to justify it. What little anti-Semitism I have encountered has been "racial" or cultural, not theological, in origin.
I would agree though that many American Jews "spend a lot of thought and effort ... defending themselves intellectually and culturally from being dissolved in the sea of the Christian culture of America."

Some Jewish libs just need a good relentless asskicking for selling out their Israeli brethren.
