— DrewM My quick take on the debate:
Romney was uneven. Good on taxes and economy (see the ad), not so good (to put it mildly) on Libya and pay equity (he should have been ready with facts about women making less in Obama's White House. Could be bad staff work).
Obama was obnoxious and lied repeatedly, nothing new there.
Crowley was an embarrassment who should be fired immediately.
Overall...Romney fought to a draw which was good enough considering the momentum is with him, so nothing changes. All Obama did was fire up his base but since that includes the DMM (Democratic Machine Media) it will seem like more than it is.
Crowley proved that if the GOP lets "undecided" voters for the Daily Kos and partisan hacks like her continue to frame these debates they are idiots. Radditz and Crowley should be the death knell for the Commission on Presidential Debates (yeah, yeah, War on Women).
Meanwhile, here's the ad culled from Romney's answer to a disgruntled Obama voter. It's very good. Clearly Team Mitt is moving into the closing arguments phase which makes sense with so much early voting going on. Can't wait until last week anymore.

Thank you for your support and, yes, I was a little off my game last night. I think I know where Obama lied, but can anyone here on this illustrious list please enumerate some of them for me, just so I can be prepared next week.
.
Your help and support is invaluable to me. You are the real America I am fighting for.

Very good ad.
I listened to a Philly local talk radio show this morning. The host is a former local news anchor who moderated many debates at the state level. He shredded Candy Crowley and also hammered Obama for being evasive and not offering any sense of where he will lead the country if he is reelected. He said, you do not win a debate simply by scoring the most attack points on your opponent - that is a "high school debate contest" mentality but does not work in political debates where the two canddiates are competing on (a) who seems the best fit for the office, and (b) who offers the most compelling vision and agenda for a better future. And Romney simply kicked Obama's ass on both for those scores.
Callers to this show included a black woman who said she was inclined toward Romney after the first debate and this one cemented her vote. Another caller is a Teamster who said Obama is killing jobs with his out of control environmental agenda and all the union guys he knows are votibng Romney. Several callers said they did not think Romney got the worst of the exchange on Libya, because Obama appeared to be hiding behind Candy Crowley's skirt and that is not manly.

Where's Biden's?
Something tells me that if you were making points that appealed to the middle during the debate, you'd run that footage in a commercial.
Why?
Did you notice the graphics embedded in the footage? Mitt's stealing credibility/trust here--and you do that anytime you can.
The big "The Presidential Debates: 2012" is a huge trust stamp and also reminder of the stakes.
If the JEF was making a play for the middle, he'd do the same thing.

Well, again guys, to be fair, he explained that oil companies were sitting on the leases indefinitely, so they got yanked, and then relet (that means leased again). I mean, there's no question that big oil has me in their pocket -- advocating a pipeline from Canada that is just for refining a finite amount of crude that will be exported, not come to the U.S. market. But whatever, the lease question was actually answered. So I gotta let that one go, too.

Crowley really helped Obama out twice - Big on Lybia, and on F & F, which Obama never had to respond to. Mitt's charge against Obama was pretty weak too, but perhaps appropriate.
Sure the questions had a liberal tilt and Candy let Obama talk more and interupted Mitt more, but that is to be expected. However, saving Obama on Lybia and not making Obama answer the charge on F & F. Those are terrible.

This is what people care about; a vision and plan for getting folks back to work and more financially secure.
People I know that are struggling said the most disappointing thing about Mr. Obama last night was his lack of that vision and a plan. They lamented he was not at least contrite and open to finding new ways to improve the economy.
Being partisan and sometimes closed to ideas from someone in another political party is often easier when you are financially secure. But when times are bad, parties seem to often take a back seat to ideas you honestly believe will personally help you.
The more people see of Mr. Romney, the more they believe he can sincerely help.

I figured it out last night.
Mitt's got the measure of Obama because Mitt's seen this before.
One of the experiences Mitt has is this:
Walking into a failing enterprise and listening to the CEO make all kinds of excuses and time-buying arguments for the business failing.
And then Mitt's either worked with the person to right the ship, or he's let that person go.
Time for Barack to go.
All Barack is doing now is negotiating his parachute.

Mitt Romney also, out of no where, brought up Fast and Furious.
As Andrew Brietbart said: "drip, drip, drip."
Do y'all not think between now and next week there won't be more "leaks" or information given out by the State Dept and/or CIA regarding the terrorist attack in Benghazi?
Do you not think that many uninformed people may be educated, finally, to what happened in Fast and Furious and the White House and DOJ still refusing to cooperate fully with Congressman Issa?
Do you not think that there will be more discussion re: the lies to the American people by this WH and Susan Rice? It is not going away. We must not let it go away.
Be patient, my little grasshoppers. Let them think they won. Who cares? It will not change Independents who have seen Romney vs Barky. Who looks more presidential? Who looks like someone sent to his time-out stool (when Mitt told him to go sit down). Who looked scared? Who lies? Who got "offended" while blasting the man who asked the question re: Benghazi? Who did not even answer his question?

While Soetero's sycophants on MSLSD were essentially FAP FAP FAP, their own set of test rabbits after the debate were swayed by...hold it...Romney!
The janitorial crew would have to use PPE to handle the disgusting bodily fluids left behind at MSLSD's desk, however, they would have to bag the entire desk in a giant red bag, based upon the lecherous discharge from Chris Matthews ALONE. As far as Sharpton...forget it.

Mr Obama and Democrats selectively picked statistics and presented them in a way which would show bigger discrepancies. The real figure show that women in the same jobs as men earn 95 cents on the dollar.
The reason for a 5 cent gap is that women often take time off or cut back to have children. That skew the statistics.
Also childless women in the 20 something age range earn more than their male peers.
It's Obama. You folks should know better than to take his numbers at face value.

I love the way Obama says A, then says the opposite of A and when called on either, says, "as I've always said...., read the transcript." Which transcript? The convenient one, obviously.

Via Breitbart:
On CNN’s “State of the Union” on September 30, Candy Crowley insisted David Axelrod, President Barack Obama’s chief strategist, was wrong when Axelrod tried to claim President Barack Obama called the Benghazi attack “an act of terror” on the day after.
“First, they said it was not planned, it was part of this tape,” Crowley said when Axelrod tried to spin her.
This was Crowley the journalist, unlike the pro-Obama advocate who moderated Tuesday’s debate between Obama and Mitt Romney and interjected herself into an argument between Obama and Romney on the exact same issue — and took Obama’s side.
During the debate, Crowley affirmed ObamaÂ’s assertion that he referred to the Benghazi attacks as acts of terror on the day after...
See, she was FOR Mitt Romney's truthfulness before she was against it.

Our local sports guys "The Ticket" were talking about how Romney told "a sitting President of the United States" when he was coming out of his chair to interrupt, to wait his turn.
I didn't really get their point, but this was a debate and Obama kept interrupting and Romney had the floor to make his point.
I'd have to think the point being made was that this was weakness. You're the President and someone tells you to sit down and wait your turn and you do it? Weak and submissive and not something anyone wants to see from a President.

==========
The Ruth Bater Ginsburg look-alike in the Luntz group absolutely loved it, too. She got it; that her retirement--beat to shit the last few years--would go a lot farther that way.
Romney did two huge things last night that the JEF Team slapping themselves on the back will totally miss:
1) He made a huge play for seniors--telling them he's going to eliminate the taxes on their retirement income.
2) He made a huge play for Hispanics--a) told them how Obama promised them immigration reform in the first year, b) reminded them his grandfather was born in Mexico, and c) let them know he has a realistic plan to deal with immigration. In fact, I think he spent way too much time on what seems to be a minor topic.
But:
FL, CO, NM--all large Hispanic population swing states. I think Romney just told us his internals say NM is in play.
Who's playing long-ball, swinging for the fences--who's on defense, hoping not to get hit in the face again?

The intent was (and still is) to push for "equal pay for equal work" laws, where Big Brother would arbitrarily decide what salary was "fair" for a given profession.
That the girl in the audience bought into the propaganda wasn't so much the issue as the fact that CNN chose her question with the bullshit premise because they felt it would favor Obama.

yes, for college-educated persons ( which makes for the most accurate numbers / studies), women 22-34 without children ( married or unmarried ) make more than men in that age group.

One of the comments that the God-that-Chooms made that hasn't been getting any notice was when he said something along the lines that the policies of the last 2 decades were what damaged the U.S. economy (besides reiterating, "it's not my fault!!!"). I know math isn't Barky's strong suit, but that puts us in the 1990s when the economy was doing well. Obama realized he f*cked up, because he later talked about how great the Clinton years were.
By the end of the debate, the SCOAMF sure lurved himself some private enterprize. Too bad actions speak louder than words.

Methinks we (I use that term losely. A few on this board have expressed some concern - not me) overly worry about stealing national elections too. For local contests and statewide contests it is much easier. For 50 statewide local contests it is less easy. This is particularly true when the other side is prepared and will not conceded lightly. Bush v. Gore. Bush was not only prepared, but he did not concede. Mitt wants to be president really bad. That is a good and bad thing. In this case, it is good. He is not going to go down easily if there is reason to believe that the other side is playing shannigans. And if this election is the rout I believe it will be, then shannigans can't overcome for that.

Stacey Dash. Who happens to have more melanin content in her skin than Barack Obama. She got a thank-you call for her support from Paul Ryan. You should google the story, it's pretty interesting.

And if the election was about either of these issues, it might matter.
It isn't. Romney won hands down on the most important issue to voters, the economy. He will continue to build his advantage.
This election is probably over, since foreign policy is pretty low on the voter's radar (right above abortion). Obama is out of opportunities to sell his economic vision for the next 4 years.

As much as I hate the Left (I hate them probably more than they hate the Right), I don't think "lies" is the proper term for what Obama and every other Leftist does, at least not all the time.
It's that they live in a bubble created by the affluence of Western civilization and mistake what they do in the furtherance of their ideology within the confines of that bubble as the things that sustain that civilization, when really they are orthogonal to that civilization altogether. The Left is NOT part of Western civilization, any more than the Chinese are.
It's as if domestic animals suddenly were to think that it was them who created human civilization and they demanded on that basis that their interpretation of reality be respected. Even deigning to listen to the Left as if they are actual people is to let the inmates run the asylum. I haven't taken a single statement by a lefty seriously in decades. They can be annoying, but only in the same way that a mosquito or similar pest is annoying, for their actions, not for their ability to actually provide a rational critique of my philosophical positions, which is something I would no more expect from a lefty than I would expect it from a domestic animal.
The Left in the West lives in a womb-like existence created and sustained by people who are not of the Left. It's not that they "lie" per se, it's that the distance Western civilization has momentarily created from reality has never forced them to come to terms with itself and they, collectively, don't have the initiative to do it on their own. So, they lash out with pseudo-intellectual ideologies like Marxism or other forms of victimology to rationalize their own failures.
That's not to say that Obama didn't lie and the main place where he really did lie is when he responded to the accusation about Bengazhi. The irony is that Romney's reaction is the proof Obama lied. Romney reacted like a person who knows something is true but is told it isn't true and having Crowley initially back up Obama's assertion momentarily provided social proof to Obama's lie. Romney's reaction at that moment is how people react to real lies, not the ginned-up version of "lie" which is, at base, a differing of perceptions from those on the Left and those on the non-Left.

God, I'm sick of the "women earn less than men" rubbish. The only valid comparison is between individuals in the same position with the same experience in positions that have a set payscale. I can't believe that that actually happens in this litigious era.
Otherwise, I don't want to hear about pay differences when the complainer is comparing individuals who differ in:
1. Experience/seniority. In most non-physical jobs, more experience makes an employee more valuable. Take time off to have kids? Great (really). But that is at a cost in experience on the job.
2. Negotiating skills. If your pay is not set by a payscale, and you get less than someone else you consider equivalent, then you need to work on your negotiating skills, and stop whining to the government;
3. Expertise/training. Sure, more women than men now graduate from college, but let's face it, there's a limit to the number of Womyn's Studies majors demanded by the economy (the upper limit being 0). To compare an English or Womyn's Studies major with an engineering major is nonsense.
I suspect that that "72%" crap comes from all men in the workforce compared to all women in the workforce, in which case these gals need to learn about weighted averages. That would be in the math department. They can ask an engineer where that would be.
And I get particularly incensed by the "equivalent work" crap, where women sitting in an air-conditioned office typing consider their job "equivalent" to something like high steel work, lumberjacks, electrical linemen, or even guys on the loading dock. How many clerks get killed on the job? And ultimately, if they think the jobs are equivalent, quit the office job and take the other one. They're equivalent, right? /rant

Mitt offered a talking point that immediately connects with women/families with the flex schedule thing. It sounds great, is is something big companies are already doing, and it is specific and responsive to ordinary people's concerns, which cuts into the meme that Romney "doesn't understand ordinary people."
Further, he went into a practical discussion of what he had already done with his MA staff. Libs are having some juvenile fun with the "binders of women" malapropism, but that's because they have nothing else from this question to hang on to. Digging any further into this issue for libs will only open them up to a compare-contrast on Obama's pay equity issues.
Obama, by contrast, went on and one about a legal case that is remote from the practical experience of most people. He was "Dingle-Norwooding" himself on an issue where he should be stronger. He came off as remote and "inside the Beltway" on pay equity.
This question was a win for Romney on several levels. Being tit-for-tat on the WH pay equity issue would have only muddied the water.

There is still the possibility of fraud, but the states in which they can make a difference are fewer in number. Also, many of the states in which they practice fraud (like Illinois) are already Obama states so they will only be cheating in local races.
In addition, some cities which used to be factors in pumping extra votes in order to swing states to the democrat side are shrinking. Detroit is an example of that.
Romney is aware of fraud possibilities and has attorneys lined up. However, if we get as many voters to the polls as possible we can overcome the fraudulent numbers.
