— Ace To the point. And on the air.
I'm glad he's running this ad. I believe -- as most of you believe -- that the media and the Democrats (BIRM) have essentially Jedi Mind Tricked the country into believing there's this massive wellspring of affection for Obama, and that the country will react hostilely to any attacks on Obama.
Nonsense. The media is still in love with him, as well as his bitter-ender progressive fantasists (but I repeat myself again), and no one else.
Independents don't like this guy. They might not hate him, but they don't like him.

And then there's this from Weasel Zippers: Biden reminisces to the NAACP about sitting in Rev. Wright's church and how he "learned so much from him."
Un-freaking believable.

Next step.... closer to the election... a commercial showing Obama flubbing the Oath of Office...
Then... a quck seiries of shots like a shot of the Consitution, zoom in to 'only Congress can declare war'... then Headlines about Libya...
A shot of the written oath to faithfully carry out the law... the Headline of Obama's Ex Order to not enforce immigration Law.
etc... etc... etc.... just quick shots showing that he did not keep his oath....

This line of attack seems to mesh quite well with your previous theme that voters don't like to acknowledge that they made a mistake in 2008 but will respond if their told that they have been duped.
It seems like Romney's camp is giving people that out, allowing them to say "Hey, he lied to us too!"

You've got to start somewhere. After all, Romney does need to vaccinate the populace against the even more outrageous ads that must surely come, so starting with the personal attack ads is necessary and timely. And when the point's been driven home that you cannot trust Obama in the easiest thing to distrust - campaign ads - then you broaden it to show what else Obama's lied about. Put your foot into the door, salesman, then wedge your way in.

Exactly. The populace is not us. They don't give a shit about the 4 years of everything. They are generally morons. (not not the good kind). Very very simple messaging must be used. This does that extremely well.

There is a tradeoff between the explosiveness of the allegation and the potential loss to your own credibility. Virtually nobody, including most Dems, actually believes the nonsense they've been spewing. It's an exercise in cynicism, and each time they ratchet it up, they look worse.

Watch this: Big Pale, you are a inveterate liar. Everything you have written is dishonest to the core including the a's and the's. It's a good thing lying is not fatal because your co-workers would have found you tits up in your cubicle long ago.

Well it is defensive. It's reactionary. Obama says something, so Romney runs to put out the fire and say "he's a liar!"
Obviously you shouldn't let your opponent walk all over you (McCain), but it IS defensive, by definition. He may have used some tough rhetoric (calling him a liar), but it's still a reaction to something Obama said about him.
NOW, if he comes out with a TV ad that says "Obama said he wouldn't raise taxes, and his healthcare law will raise x-number of taxes on x-number of people. therefore he is a liar, and can't be trusted with a final term in office." Then THATS going on the offensive.
Posted by: BigPale at July 12, 2012 08:59 AM (O1G/0)
I'm definitely in the camp that thinks these polls that say people overwhelmingly like Obama on a personal level are a result of the Bradley effect.
Obama is a thug, plain and simple.
Romney ha shown he has the sack to criticize a black man. McCain (the supposed tough guy war hero) was scared to death of the MSM calling him a racist (which they did anyway).
The worst was when McCain was actually running pro-Obama ads during the Democrat Convention.

Um, the Clinton clip had nothing to do with Romney, so the idea that the ad is a purely a reaction can't be made.
NOW, if he comes out with a TV ad that says "Obama said he wouldn't raise taxes, and his healthcare law will raise x-number of taxes on x-number of people. therefore he is a liar, and can't be trusted with a final term in office." Then THATS going on the offensive.Posted by: BigPale

Ace,
Sweetly pithy yourself, man: "bitter-ender progressive fantasists." - Very nice.
Oh (and far more importantly) once again, your analysis that Obama is quite vulnerable to accurate attacks on his shoddy character is spot on.
As long as the attacks aren't bullshit [and from the Primary race forward Romney has been adamantly non-bullshit in his specific approach; see 1) his attacks on Gingrich, and 2) his recent NAACP speech]: a weary voting public will gradually warm to the brutally harsh truths emanating from Obama. His deceptions. His failed policies derived from his fundamentally flawed ideologies. - All will gain relevance. But someone has to have the confidence to speak out on these truths. It appears that Romney does.
An unapologetic declaration of what and who Obama is and the damage he is wrought and will continue to wreak on our country is all that is needed.
