— Pixy Misa The White Plains newspaper The Journal-News has decided to produce an interactive map of every licensed pistol permit holder in three New York counties.
The map indicates the addresses of all pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties. Each dot represents an individual permit holder licensed to own a handgun — a pistol or revolver. The data does not include owners of long guns — rifles or shotguns — which can be purchased without a permit. Being included in this map does not mean the individual at a specific location owns a weapon, just that they are licensed to do so.
The information is public, however there is no legitimate reason for them to consolidate it and put it on an interactive map. Well, no other reason than intimidation. The newspaper doesn't offer an explanation for why they created this interactive map.
This is bitter, spiteful and dangerous. This puts the gun owners in great danger. Do you live in New York? Do you want a gun? Well rob these homes to get one. When that eventually happens or someone is killed as a result of this stunt, the newspaper won't be held to account. The editorial staff and reporters won't care at all.
Fortunately, a blogger at For What Its Worth, decided that two can play that game. He found the publisher's address, pictures of the inside of her home on Zillow, and her personal likes and dislikes culled from her credit card records.
It should be noted that all of that information is public. It will be hard not to laugh when she accuses bloggers and gun nuts of intimidation.

I'd think many would be thieves would think of it as a map of what houses in general to avoid.

Here's the thing, criminals always want to get their hands on guns. They' can't buy them in stores.
A lot of guns used in crimes or murders are stolen guns. So let's say many of these permit holders own multiple guns. Well, all a criminal has to do is wait for that homeowner to leave and then ransack the house.
You can't take all your guns with you every time you leave your house.

>>That is based on first-hand knowledge.
As with all public information, a decent bit of it is out of date or not updated. As with voter roles, they're usually two years behind.

The website's map is also a map of homes where the owner is unarmed.
They're gonna get people killed. They should be in jail right now for this. Cyber-bullying, harassment, whatever, just get them off the street and yank this map.
People will look back and realize this is going to be the day the bloodshed was started. I hope you are all prepared for this.

Al this does is give prospective criminals a slimmed down list of targets, eliminating self defense types while making more vulnerable those useful idiots that would be on the side of gun grabbers - to real life gun grabbers..
Think Gun Free Zones.
This is laughable, though I applaud the FWIW effort to expose this asshole as more vulnerable than those that she targets.

Is there some kind of fine for impersonating a reporter? I'd like to call the phone numbers of the editor of the paper saying i'm a reporter for the La Crosse Tribune and ask him a bunch of questions... like if Obamas children are going to a school with 11 armed guards why can't everyday public schools have certified concealed carry pemitted teachers on site to put down a crazy intent on killing kids?
Can they take away my ps3 for impersonating a reporter? Like, no way am I doing it then! For sure not!

The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer drove a fine physician to attempt to take his own life a few years ago, then put details of his suicide attempt on the front page.
NBC's David Gregory poo-poos the idea of having armed guards at schools, but sends his own kid to Sitwell Friends, which does have armed guards.

They're efficient. Plotting crimes is unnecessary, generates error, increases evidence, etc. The way you get away with shit is do it and leave.
Robbery and burglary are crimes of opportunity, and your unconscious mind is a better opportunistic target selector than "you" are. If you find yourself thinking, "I could rob that guy," or "That house looks good," do it.
If crime is your thing.
Criminals who thought acting out a cop-show plot was a good idea are in prison.

Putnam is still putting together its records and could not immediately provide any data. The map will be updated when that data is released.
