All you can really do is ask questions that force them to confront their cognitive dissonance. Questions that force them to announce their ego-centric stubbornness.

70 The pick of Ryan was completely unimaginative.  That's a good thing.

In hindsight, the only thing the SCOAMF has done has taken down the "fourth wall" of the theater.  He's brought the ridiculousness and wastefulness of government, which us folks take as a given, into full view.  The crony capitalism, the corruption, the vote-buying, he has made into every-day life, rather than the thing we don't speak of.  He basically just showed us the emperor's wardrobe, but mostly because he's a sociopath.  He has no understanding that such things are discussed behind closed doors.

With Romney, who I once said wasn't even my second pick, we see at least competence, and as proof we get this unimaginative, yet intriguing pick.  Ryan can play the attack dog like no other.  He's a Reagan Republican.  Probably the pick comes from the non-risk-averse side of the investor-Romney.  Sometimes you take risks, and if you're not a complete dumbass they pan out a lot of the time.  Romney is no dumbass.

Real world experience.

How fucking refreshing.

Obama Attack Ad attacking Paul Ryan.

But everyone should watch that. Because it's very revealing not of Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney, but of liberals.

The end of the ad has the following:

"With Romney and Ryan the Choice for:

Women

The Elderly

Veterans

Students

Middle-Class Families

couldn't be clearer"

Nowhere is "America" mentioned. Nowhere are Americans mentioned. I suppose because that would exclude the illegal immigrants.

But there you go. Liberalism in a nutshell. Divide everyone up into their separate groups, and then target those groups.

100 62 - Those people have always been around. I'm not sure what their numbers are, but it's fairly negligible, and they don't tend to effect the outcomes of elections because, for every one of the purists on your side there are who threaten to stay home, there's one on their side. And if it needs to be said, the number of them who actually follow through and stay home (or go third party) is a fraction of those who are fussing and fidgeting right now.

Here's a starter list of words to make your own combo:
Risky, Desperate, Wonk, Counterweight, Style, Ploy, Kamikaze, November, Weakness,Good-Looks, Base, White, Entitlement, Confrontational, Poll-Driven, Unexpected, Racial, Choir,Miscalculate, Women, Insider, Expected, Backfire, Disaffected, Bitter,Gambit, Extreme, Resentment, Loss, Nonmoms,Hispanics, Swing State, Address, Medicine, Medicaid, Element, Hammer, Deaf Ears, Unemployment, Perceived, Public, Jobs

You use these words as a punch line.  But I use these words to defend a way of life.  Words like "hysteria", "Biased media", "slanted coverage" and "plagiarism" aren't just slogans, but something worth defending.  You may laugh about it at your little meetings of bitter clingers, but I am here defending this at cocktail parties, big fundraisers and on the cable broadcasts of CNN.

And deep down inside, you know that I am full of shit. You want me to be full of shit. You need me to be full of shit.

Because where else are you going to go to get your daily ration of bullshit?  MSNBC?  Faux News?  You need me on that cable news, you WANT me on that cable news!

Did I plagiarize someone elses word!  Damn right I did! And as an American hating Muslim from India, I would do it again!  You can just go screw yourselves too, because I still make loads more money than you do, and the President listens to me because we both hate this whitebread racist country and want to bring it down.

So thank me later, screwheads.

I met Paul Ryan briefly 8 years ago when he and Mark Neuman (who held Ryan's House seat back in the 90's) travelled to our humble Dem-leaning district to help out our guy' s campaign that year.  He's the Real Deal.

Love the theme -- "Comeback Kids!" -- 'cause everyone loves the underdog. Plus we already know that BO's team is going to drag this whole country through slime and muck, and Ryan is the perfect antidote.  What you see is who that guy is.

And yes, Wisconsin is now VERY MUCH IN PLAY.  Hope and Change, indeed!

They must not be Randians. Ayn Rand endorsed Richard Nixon back in the day, not because she thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but because he was head and shoulders above McGovern (the first Obama). Ayn Rand understood that reality trumps wishcasting all day long.

I say nay to sending Bolton back to that worthless shit hole where he can accomplish nothing.

Bolton befits all of the four above mentioned positions, and he could far more benefit America in any of them.

I'm torn between where he could benefit America most. Sec. State would probably be best. But I'd also love to see Romney create his own super-"czar" and make the left eat a super serving of their own shit sandwich.

297 The thing about Ryan that frustrated California conservatives can appreciate about Ryan is his belief that there should be a choice between candidates and ideas. Romney went bold shaping the campaign between two ideologically poles. I like it.

If Romney wins I wonder if the California GOP will give itself an enema and start to become an opposing force to Democrats instead of weak, feckless, politicians trying desperately to hold onto the slim shreds of power that remain for them. If they were a party that Tom McClintock wanted to be the standard bearer of California might have a slim hope of rebounding from the abyss.

Does Paul Ryan negate the selection of Romneycare at the top of the ticket?  No, sorry, it doesn't.  The huge swath of conservatives that weren't going to bother to vote for the top of the ticket will mostly still just vote down ticket.  Some will vote, but the GOP has already lost the Presidential election by denying it's conservative roots and picking the most liberal Republican candidate in history to top the ticket.  A man that would make most former democrat Presidents seem conservative by contrast.

The GOP establishment didn't learn last time, you don't win by nominating a moderate and trying to balance the ticket with a conservative.  You win by putting a strong conservative at the top.

344 Going to plagiarize what I wrote elsewhere:

A great new Romney/Ryan ad-- or more accurately, RYAN! ad.

Something new to like about Romney and give him props for: he's obviously not worried about being overshadowed by his VP. Doesn't feel insecure at the prospect that his VP pick might outshine him or be more well-liked. On the contrary, it looks like the Romney campaign is planning to shine a big ol' spotlight on Ryan, and he was picked for that purpose.

I can't think of a better spokesman right now for the GOP-- for the GOP that I'd like to see-- than Ryan. Kudos to Romney for seeing that. And giving Ryan a co-starring role in the campaign.

Contrast McCain muzzling Palin, and Obama hiding Biden away (of course Biden was a phantom VP candidate as much as he is a phantom VP).

By the way, while I think it's plausible Obama might pick a new VP (desperate though that move will make him appear), I wonder-- would someone with Obama's personality let a new VP steal the spotlight from him?

Well, he did let Clinton have the press conference podium to himself that time...

Vice President Joe Biden personally called his newly-minted VP challenger Rep. Paul Ryan this morning to essentially say: "game on."

In a statement following the call, the Obama campaign said Biden wanted to congratulate Ryan, a congressional colleague for the past 13 years, and "welcome him to the race."

"The Vice President urged Congressman Ryan to enjoy the day with his family," the statement reads, "and said he looked forward to engaging him on the clear choice voters face this November."

359 Not having heard about this, I was startled and pleased when I ran across part of the event on the U.S.S. Wisconsin

In particular, I liked when Romney, after making the mistake, "Here is the next *president* of the United States, Paul Ryan," he came back up to the podium.  "I've been known to make a mistake now and then," he said with a grin, his hand on Ryan's shoulder.  "It's Paul Ryan, *Vice*-President."  And hten he got off camera and let Ryan talk.  Imagine Obozo in that situation (and he did make that mistake with Biden in '08, I recall).  He'd either ignore it and his MSM fools would spring to excuse him as being "tired," or he'd come back on and explain what he *really* meant.

Apparently Ryan won't let the MSM fools distract him, either.  I caught an audio clip -- "60 Minutes," maybe?  Didn't watch it -- where the interviewer brought up his tax returns, and Ryan coolly says, "I've released the same number of returns as Governor Romney.  But this is not about tax returns," and proceeds to steer the conversation right back where it should be.  Ha!
