It is reminiscent of that great Statesman, William Jefferson Clinton, who three weeks into his first term in 1993  claimed that he had "worked harder than he had in his whole life" to try and "fix" the budget,  but that now he "had to raise taxes".  Just like GHWB claimed he would in 1992 and Billy Jeff claimed he wouldn't.

I frankly don't know how we can afford four more years of BHO "trying his best" and coming up a crapper in the process.

Dude, that's kinda harsh for the poor fellow who just reads the scripts off the teleprompter.

I'd reserve that kinda punishment for the folks who actually WRITE the scripts [Axelrod, Sunstein, Kagan, Ayers, and their ilk].

"Whose name will be on the ballot in Nov?"

You know, when you think about it, "Barack Hussein Obama" isn't really much more than a name.

His "autobiography" was invented out of thin air by William Ayers.

His only claim to having worked in the private sector ["behind enemy lines"] was actually for a CIA front company.

He was given a quota job at UChig Law School with the understanding that it was a cosmetic deal which would allow him to run for higher office.

The three or four essays which we know to be his and his alone [not written for him by Ayers or Favreau or Axelrod] are riddled with really embarrassing grammar errors [especially considering that he was supposed to have been "President" of Harvard Law Review].

For about 15 years, he allowed his literary publicist to claim that he was born in Kenya.

We don't know which country's passport he travelled on when he went to Pakistan, in 1981.

And now we have credible reports that he's been using a Connecticut Social Security Number all these years.

What do we really know about this guy, other than a name?

And what is his real "name", anyway?

Barack Obama?

Barack Marshall Davis?

Barry Soetoro Dunham?

Just a name, a starched shirt, and a well-creased pant leg.

The Hot Air article spelled out most of the answers.

RE: who: this is from a blog, http://blog.eminentdomainlaw.net/

Per Reuters, Mortgage Resolution Partners is “backed by a number of prominent West Coast financiers,” including Evercore Partners Inc and Westwood Capital, who would be paid back after the restructured loans were sold off to “hedge funds, pension funds and other institutional investors.”

From the link in my name:
"The Mortgage Resolution Partners Web site says Mr. Gluckstern "worked for investor Warren Buffett and served as General Manager of reinsurance operations of the Berkshire Hathaway Insurance Group." Also according to the Mortgage Resolution Partners Web site, the firm's chief of staff, BJ Greenspan, "comes to MRP most recently from the Institute of New Economic Thinking (INET), founded in the aftermath of the most recent financial crisis, where she helped to launch their efforts and served as Chief of Staff." The Institute for New Economic Thinking was founded by hedge fund manager and philanthropist George Soros with a $50 million pledge in 2009 and a $50 million follow-up grant in 2012."
...
"Evercore is led by Roger Altman, a Clinton and Carter administration official who was mentioned as a possible successor to Lawrence Summers as President Obama's chairman of the National Economic Council. Mr. Altman's firm was paid $46 million by General Motors pre-bankruptcy, then turned around and asked for a $17.9 million "success fee." A U.S. bankruptcy trustee termed the fees "staggering" and "inordinately large" and said it "clearly exceeds the bounds of reasonableness" given that "Evercore had no success at finding a purchaser or funder for the Debtors." Mr. Altman then wrote an op-ed piece in the New York Times praising President Obama's auto bailout."

Other way around. They're going to seize *performing* loans and essentially strip the banks of the only loan assets that are still paying off. They may as well just go in with guns and empty the vault, but would probably get less cash that way and this way there's no insurance to recoup the loss to investors.

"We're all hoping for a Romney win, but imagine the job before him if he does win. I'd argue for an immediate purge of Stalinesque proportions, but it won't happen."

To fix this mess, we would need an immediate and perpetual increase in SoshSecurity and Mediscare eligibility ages - I'd argue for [at least] increasing the minimum eligibility age by one year every two calendar years - so that, by the end of Romney's first 4-year term, the eligibility age would have increased from 67 to 69, and by the end of Romney's second 4-year term, the eligibility age would have increased from 69 to 71 [etc etc etc in perpetuity, until the eligibility age is 125 and no one qualifies anymore].

Immediate phase out of all SS Disability, Medicaid, WIC, AFDC, crop support subsidies, and every other form of personal and corporate welfare. No more "too big to fail". Banksters go to PRISON.

Immediately cease all efforts at nation-building in any Muslim country - Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, wherever: If they refuse to play nice, then turn them to glass from 40,000 feet, but under no circumstances do you place boots on the ground in any country whose Constitution declares it to be Muslim.

Fire Bernanke on Day One. Audit the Fed. Figure out what our true fiscal "obligations" amount to.

Send ALL illegal immigrants home immediately. And their anchor babies. And if John Roberts whines and bitches and moans about Wong Kim Ark, then tell him to kiss your ass.

Immediately seal the border with Mexico, by deploying the USMC if necessary.

297 Posted by: Infidel at home at July 07, 2012 02:45 PM (YiODH) The problem with used trucks is that you pay a premium for them because so many people want them as a second vehicle. And none of the new trucks will have anywhere near the durability of my old F150. I know I'll get a raft of shit for this, but I've been thinking my next vehicle should be a used Toyota Sienna. Great ratings for durability and safety. Shit for looks, but I don't care. Strip out the interior from the driver's seat back, and it could be a great utility vehicle. You see them all the time for sale that have obviously never been used for anything other than transporting kids and groceries. Not exactly heavy use. I know I'm not a typical car consumer. I want durability, economy, low insurance rates, and VERSATILITY. I basically want an economy car that I can load up with tools, cargo, or camping gear whenever I want to. A used Sienna could have the cargo capacity of my current Ranger-with-a-camper-top at a much lower cost.

313 289-- "So she spent $1,225,000 on clothes for herself?" Yep. They make about that much a year, more or less, so she spends a good quarter of their income of clothes. Seriously, my friend broke down piece-by-piece the wardrobe Michelle wore on her last big official European trip and it added up to over $200,000 for two weeks. Let me put it to you this way. The Alexander McQueen gown Michelle wore to the state dinner for China would cost at least $20,000 with discount. The Naeem Khan she wore to the India state dinner, which was embroidered with real silver, would cost about $30,000 with discount. Hey! You get a $2000 sundress, $300 cardigan (cheap!), $500 purse, and $500 shoes for a routine, casual outfit and pretty soon the money adds up!!! I don't care, BTW, since it's her own money. But pretending to be just-folks is absurd and obnoxious. And then there's the question of whether she's getting a good result for all the money spent. Heh.

318 As imperialism struggles to hold together this decaying social fabric, it inevitably resorts to brute force and authoritarian ideology. People, especially young people, more and more find themselves in the iron grip of authoritarian institutions. Reaction against the pigs or teachers in the schools, welfare pigs or the army, is generalizable and extends beyond the particular repressive institution to the society and the State as a whole. The legitimacy of the State is called into question for the first time in at least 30 years, and the anti-authoritarianism which characterizes the youth rebellion turns into rejection of the State, a refusal to be socialized into American society. Kids used to try to beat the system from inside the army or from inside the schools; now they desert from the army and burn down the schools.

322 This would not be a problem with manual roll down windows. All these wonderful little whistles and bells in a vehicle are great....right up until they stop working. Exactly, wheatie. I do not have a broken elbow. I'm perfectly able to operate a crank without electronic assistance. Why the fuck can't I buy a nice car without electric windows? On the old F150, an electric window went out first. When I took off the interior door panel and looked into it, the channel that's supposed to slide against the bottom of the window (glass) panel had come loose. Zero-cost fix. Later, I had a window motor go out. $365 fix. Think about this: $365 fucking dollars. And that was at least 15 years ago. To raise and lower a fucking window. I later talked to a guy who works in a Mercedes plant. It just so happened that his job was mounting electric-window motors. He said, "The reason cars come with electric windows is because it's cheaper to build a car with electric windows, and most buyers think they want electric windows." The. Fucking. End.

341 Geez. Another begging email from the Obama camp.

Originally, asking for $3 donations was smart because it told his welfare class that they could be a part of the process, and as part of a team of millions like them, $3 didn't seem like a small thing.

The raffles were astounding in their gimmickry: Raffle off a chance to spend time with the POTUS. Utterly lacking in dignity, but from a fund-raising standpoint, it was smart.

Now, with two and sometimes three emails a day, the begging has reached so far beyond desperate pathetic that a new word should be created to describe it. It's unseemly. It's demeaning of the office. It's a freak-show of such hideous proportions that I now have to read the emails through the cracks between my fingers.

It makes my head ache and my stomach turn.

And, if I were someone who had contributed to his campaign, the death by 1000 $3 pricks would piss me off.

They have gone horribly, pathetically off-course.

350If memory serves....thepower-windows thing showed up first in luxury cars.

Yes. The thing is that as labor costs increased it became cheaper to build a car with power windows than with manual windows. Hell, if I could do it, I'd pay more for manual windows, because manual windows work. Weird.

And power-windows on trucks and utility vehicles, to me, doesn't make a lot of sense anyway.

You take them out in the middle of nowhere....to places where you're on your own...so you don't need to be vulnerable to the eventuality of some of those 'luxuries' going out on you.

I was lusting for a Hummer....one of the ones that is bare bones, no frills....when the hammer came down on the Hummer line.

Now, I don't know if the parts supply would always be available.

Just this one partial sentence reminds me of something that popped up on twitter yesterday. I think it was rdbrewer or comrade arthur that pointed out a comment in the sidebar piece about "Why I won't hire you".

It is one of the most articulate explanations of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and how Socialist policies damn them to fail that I have ever read.

I think it deserves a post of it's own and, as I said on twitter, a prominent display in the "Why Socialism Sucks" museum.

421 This is the mindset that affirmative action creates.  The sad part is that he actually believes that his "trying real hard" should be good enough, and that his measurement of success should be lowered a couple of notches.
