— Ace On FoxNews, I just saw the headline, "White House passes on chance to disavow attack on Ann Romney."
Which is strange, given that Obama's campaign guys have thrown Hilary Rosen under the bus, and even Michele Obama took to twitter to claim she respects all moms, and we all ought to.
But maybe it's not so strange.
Watch this video from Breitbart, where he talks about the woman who "advised me at the law firm where we met" (a knock on Romney's statement that Ann is one of his advisers) and goes on to say "We didn't have the luxury for [Michele] not to work." And how it was hard for Michele Obama to "balance" the needs of work and child-rearing.
This is from last Friday, says John Nolte, who made this connection.
The Obama campaign would have us believe that last night on CNN Obama advisor and frequent White House guest, Hilary Rosen, spoke out of turn with her indefensible attack on Ann Romney and every woman who chooses to stay home and raise her family. But in a speech last Friday at “The White House Forum on Women and the Economy,” President Obama seemed to be laying the groundwork for exactly this attack.
It sure seems, then, like the White House cooked up this line of attack, and Hilary Rosen, who's been there 35 times and advises Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (in order to help her "tone it down," ironically enough), was simply delivering the Daily Two Minute Hate, as ordered by her bosses.
And in that case the White House's and the Obamas' and Messina's and Axelrod's claims of finding fault with the comment are, naturally, completely disingenuous.
By the way-- Sandra Fluke? Hilary Rosen's PR firm represents her.
Jay Carney... claims he can't confirm that Hilary Rosen has visited the White House 35 times, because he "personally" knows three women named Hilary Rosen, so, you know, who can say with any certainty which Hilary Rosen it was.
PROTIP: It was the one who works for former top Obama adviser Anita Dunn. Not the one who serves coffee at Starbucks, and not the one who just got bat mitzvah'd.
Video: I know three Hilary Rosens. So maybe it was one of them.

The Obama campaign is seriously dumb this time around if they are going to try and cast the Obamas as the "average family working hard to get by" for this election. The way they have lived and behaved in the White House, the weekly parties, the flying to New York to see a show, Michelle's constant travel, her wearing $450 sneakers to a food bank. Yeah, that shit is what the average struggling family is doing alright.

When I grew up, you could live in a modest house and still go to a good school. Not anymore. Now you pretty much have to be upper middle class to get your kids into a good system.
So there you go. My wife WOULD be a stay at home mom, but she can't thanks to Democrats like Obama.

This was set up, just like the Trayvon case before it, and the idiot question by Stephanie Snuffleupagus at one of the debates about the GOP wanting to ban contraception.
The left thinks they're playing the country as it was played during the W administration. And they were, except today, it blew up in their face.

"We didn't have the luxury for [Michele] not to work." And how it was hard for Michele Obama to "balance" the needs of work and child-rearing.
So you two are bad at taking a budget and paring it back where necessary in order to work with the funds available to you?
Color me surprised.

You don't think a house in the Hyde Park area comes cheap, do you?
Also of note: President SCOAMF's remark, by implication, means he feels women should stay at home...
...you see, Michele HAD to work. Women shouldn't get choices and considerations when it comes to their careers.
War on women indeed.

I'm not so sure it is a distraction, but it probably doesn't matter either way. The only people who are paying attention to these comments right now are most likely voters who have already decided who to vote for.
As for whether it is a distraction, I do not agree. Talking about unemployment and deficits doesn't always get people at the gut level - when it should. Certainly it does for those who are unemployed, but the majority of people are employed and while they face economic certainty wonk talk probably doesn't grab their attention. But whether women work or take care of kids - that's a conversation starter. That grabs people's attention. And if you can then turn that around to the ecomony the way Ann Romney did the better.
Clinton could make this work for him. Obama cannot. He'll say something stupid such as "Hey we had to work for a living" which comes off hollow from two Harvard grads.
In the end, this probably favors Mitt a little, but very little. Because the people paying attention know who they are going to vote for.

Who's angry?
This is a signal that the Obaka campaign is already thrown away their 2008 campaign playbook. And, yes, we should be happy. It signals that Obaka is planning on an angry and ugly campaign, the exact opposite of how he became elected.
If Romney pulls out a Morning in America script, it's game, set, match.

These comments also included how popular and loved Michelle Obama is.
Then this week Michelle herself noted how much more popular she is vs her husband.
This attack on Mrs. Romney was certainly planned by the WH.

You're right, but will the squishy middle know about this? The media won't detail this stuff. I doubt Romney will cut that hard and deep. The RNC may put out some web videos, but those won't be "in the face" of the people who can't be bothered to do a little research on the people whom they vote for.
I fear the Obama propaganda campaign because it will be in those people's faces and they will absorb it. This is what the RNC doesn't seem to realize. The right believes people will naturally come to them by research, due diligence, and good ole common sense. I don't agree. The squishy voters we need are just that - squishy. They need to be shown the light, not shown how to flip the light switch themselves. It's sad, but true.

I've never seen anything mentioned about this ever since. I'd think it a huge data point to have a person who couldn't managed his finances on a far above median earning level is expected to have a grasp on managing the econmy of a nation. In other words, the guy who couldn't follow the directions of his accountant back in Chicago is now expected to read reports from the Federal Reserve and Treasury?

Of course the squishy middle will know about how the Obamas have spent the last few years. Every single freaking mainstream media source has splashed picture after picture, article after article, report after report everywhere. They have always meant it to be some sort of glowing paean to them, but the problem with publicizing the Obamas as much as they have is that everyone knows what their lifestyle has been like. All you have to do is stand at the checkout counter at the grocery store and you'll see magazine after magazine with their grinning visages as they jet off someplace else, or Obama sings with celebrities, or Mrs. Obama shows off some stylish new outfit.
I am expecting a pivot soon, where they fall back on the Abe Lincoln "poor boy born in a log cabin, look how far he's come" narrative for the Obamas.

Very, very few Rosens were running around naming their girls "Hilary". "Hilary" just isn't really a big hit with any group.

I know. I've ran the numbers. I could easily pull down that. But, I like the not work hours as much as the money--it's my time, I'll spend it how I want. But, I don't lie to myself and pretend that the guy making $100k a year works as few hours as I.

Sure. Yes. This was a set up. .....It's like that thing that lawyers do in a courtroom, where they say something inflamatory....for the jury to hear....and then 'retract it', and apologize to the judge.
The thing is....this carefully crafted soundbite is out there now. ...."Never worked a day in her life"....is something that was designed to stick.
We knew this sort of thing would be coming, if Romney were the nominee.
This is how they start applying the "evil rich 1%-er" narrative that they have been working on for over a year. ....The occupoopers probably will have signs with Ann Romney's picture on them, with all sorts of slurs.
The only way to counter this.....is to say "Romney wants you to prosper too....Obama doesn't". ....And elaborate on how the SCoaMT wants to control and enslave us.

The "lobby," and I use this term loosely, is decorated in the style of a frat house who got kicked off campus. The walls were once made out of gypsum-board, but have been patched together with so many bar coasters that the coasters are likely load-bearing by this point.
There is no formal seating or inoffensive corporate art. There are a couple of wheel-less grocery carts from Safeway on their side, with a bedsheet thrown over them to sit upon. The lighting in the lobby comes from the bottom section of a lava lamp which has been stapled to the ceiling, and hangs forlornly by the cord.
There is no door to the bathroom. Or light. I am afraid to enter.

Guess you don't know about Ann Romney's early married years when she and her husband had makeshift furniture and had two babies in a tiny apartment. This election is going to be won where I live, in the outer suburbs of Philadelphia. Ann Romney is going to be HUGELY popular around here. With married women, many of whom voted for Obama in 2008. Now, maybe that's why Axelrod thought it was necessary to try to tarnish her right away, but this attack has completely backfired and I don't think he will get another crack at her now.
I guess there are rumors that Dems are busy trying to find all the Romney maids and nannies to prove that Ann didn't do any work at home. Or maybe they already have and they think Ann has just walked into a trap.

Have not yet seen where these donuts go. Am told to "leave them on the desk and leave the room." Which I do. Room with desk is nondescript, but has an off-putting odor that I cannot fully describe. Two doors; one which I enter and leave that leads to the hallway, and another which is crudely labeled with scrawled lipstick "LAURAW"
Not sure what a laurwaw is, but the sounds I hear once I close the door and wait in the hallway lead me to question whether or not I want to know.

Just for the heck of it, I looked at people search (Intellus). There are 18 "Hillary Rosen" women in the USA. Only one is 45 years old and apparently Hillary Beth. A few of the people seem to be the same age/same person who is around 22yrs old. Wikipedia lists Hillary Beth as the lobbyist/activist hornet-nest kicker from DC, and from her photo she appears about mid-forties. So, unless the WH records recorded others, this is the same woman. Carney does not even lie well, much less do his job.

kallisto - a kindred spirit! I'm in Bucks County, the battleground of the battleground. I saw FIVE Romney ads on TV last night. I'm already sick of the one about Mitt saving the guy's daughter, but it's a good ad. That one will resonate with so many moms around here that have teenage and college-age daughters. The campaign is already doing a great job with the ads they are running here.
I love to talk to my neighbors and friends about the campaign. I try to do it subtly so I get genuine responses. I knew Obama was going to win big when all of them were telling me how much they despised Bush and didn't like Palin so they were going to vote for Obama and hope for the best. Now they are embarrassed to admit that and can't wait to vote the SCOAMF out! One mom recently told me she thought Michelle Obama was the most horrible harridan she had ever seen, couldn't believe all the fancy vacations and the private schools for the girls when so many Americans are still hurting. I know that lady is going to LOVE Ann Romney!

That crowd really believed the "postracial" spiel. They really thought he was going to be a uniter and most of all...a CENTRIST. They feel deceived.
(when I said the soccer moms are trying to look like Ann Romney, I don't mean actually copying her...it's just the look they've already assumed because they dig it. It's the Main Line Woman look. They're more likely to identify with her. They've done their part by voting for the historic president, now they can go back to form.)
I live in Western Delco, just bumping up on Chesco and very close to the DE state line.

Jay Carney, wearing his Clark Kent imposter glasses, specially designed to provide super vision powers, stated today he knows at least three Hilary Rosen type women. The glasses embolden his statements, and he believes in the power of this image; lacking, of course, the red cape and quick change behind the podium. He does wear blue tights in the privacy of his office.
The glasses were thought to emit telescopic, infrared, x-ray, and microscopic vision of reporters who daily harass him...especially that Henry guy from FOX. In addition to these stylish frames, the thick lenses were thought to provide telepathic signals to anticipate questions, boring worm-holes into reporter's brains. He may actually know four or five of these Rosen women, as he also has diplopia, or double-vision, at inconvenient times (see: most of the time when he is asked real questions by reporters who now consider the daily briefing a sport. Without his glasses he bears a strong resemblance to Heidi the Cross-Eyed Opossum). He is not sure how many Hilary Rosens he knows. He may have this woman mixed up with another Hillary with double L's instead of the singular L. Rose also sounds like "rose garden." "Please repeat the question."
Carney does not have super hearing powers, and may have not heard the question correctly; nor can he read the ginned-up WH books of visitors (which often require a photo ID---imagine!---and/or Social Security to gain access).
He finds strength and power wearing the glasses, and often stutters many of his more memorable and inane emissions of stupidity as the hipster dude. This includes the more recent statement of Obama "speaking in short-hand" regarding the division of power and SCOTUS. Carney feels invincible. Truth is power, even if made up.
Henry, from FOX News, and Jake Tapper of ABC, worked together to discover the glasses are made of green kryptonite instead of the petroleum-containing polymer Carney thought was made in China. This finding explains his mind-boggling stupidity today, as green kryptonite is known to cripple Clark Kent and virtually bring him to his knees (please erase all visuals here of who Jay might be on his knees for). This discovery is believed to be part of a recent right wing conspiracy and a mole in the White House (possibly the same mole who hangs out in the Rose Garden near the podium).
The antidote is unknown and the process may be terminal in early November this year if volumes of stupidity continue to be blurted to WH correspondents. It may already be too late to replace either the glasses or Carney for this administration.

Rockmom and Kallisto - my 'rents live in Bucks. Interesting battleground county. I've noticed that when the economy is good, the uberlibs vote Dem, because they are so progressive and such. When the economy is bad, they all vote Repub. Only county I have experience with that goes back and forth between a D and R congressman.
I live in a solid R county in Texas. We don't have D on the ballot for anything but statewide races.
But I digress. Why isn't anyone pointing out that no matter what Ann Romney does or doesn't do for a job, that doesn't mean she can't listen to what people tell her and report back to her husband what she's heard. Just because I'm not Asian doesn't mean I can't listen to a group of Asians, make note of what they want me to tell somebody else for them, and report what they said. What's this BS about "understanding" and stuff? Ann herself said she reports what people tell her, and what they tell her is our national debt is a big concern to them.
And one other thing I didn't think of myself, but heard once. How much stuff do you really need to where both parents "have" to work? Rosen talks about it being a "luxury" to stay at home. Well yeah, if you have a lifestyle you can't afford then both parents "have" to work to maintain it. But if you make up your mind to have less stuff (smaller house, older cars, fewer gadgets) then you'd be surprised how little you can live on. And all the "single moms" I run into ... the vast majority I know TODAY (versus 30 years ago) simply weren't willing to tough it out with somebody who didn't make them "happy." There was no cheating, no abuse, just "we don't love each other any more." Since I'm now the elder statesman, I have to point out to them that nobody I know loves their spouse 100% of the time. Or even 65% of the time. You just tough it out because it's what you signed up for, and once you have kids, it's not about YOU and what makes YOU happy any more. You owe it to your kids to give them a stable home.
Down from soap box...
