His map BEFORE Romney unloads the monetary mothership?
Not so much, per the latest polling averages:

The above map will likely get a lot redder as the Romney's Death Star 2.0 unloads Friday. But this is right now. Obama has seen catastrophic double-digit collapses from his 2008 performance in a wide swath of territory, some of it shocking.

President Obama had a summer to unload on Romney, only to make his map worse. This is the reality. The challenge will be for Team Romney to capitalize off low hanging fruit and make aggressive assaults into territory their funds give them the liberty of "blowing" on. The more we shrink the darker blues, the more likely Obama faces total electoral collapse.

Then count the bodies entering and compare to the votes cast.

-Not- trying to figure out who votes. Just count the bodies in versus number of ballots cast in that precinct. Account for Absentee and Military ballots correctly.

Advertising dollars just won't be that big of a deal post-conventions. No matter how many billions are spent, this rate will be won or lost by a couple of percentage points, and within 50 electoral votes either way.

141 We keep seeing reports of how the electoral map still favors Obama and how Mitt has to this, that, and the other to flip more than a few states. But think of it this way, the top map was a 52-46 victory. Enthusiasm back then was remarkable.

People were arguing about how smart Obama was, how it was nice to have a scholar! in the race rather than the dimbulb Bush. Obama was caring, compassionate, post-partisan, thoughtful to a fault. People argued how only he could heal America's place in the world, reverse the evils of Darth Cheney....plus he was just so damn smart!

Now we talk about how the Republicans have thwarted him, how Mitt Romney is rich (and KILL the rich), how he isn't like us, etc....but no one is talking about how smart Obama is anymore. Remember, that was his premier qualification 4 years ago and no one is discussing now.

And the people I argued with were passionate. Now they know they tied their feet to an O shaped anchor. That is the crush in that map.

And just to get this thought out into the air as football season starts, all this talk about Republican obstructionism sounds like a losing coach interview.

"We played our game but their defense really stepped up. We didn't have an answer for it."
